DrJules 11-29-2005, 06:01 PM If this is true then this is brilliant news. In 2002 ankle injuries forced her out of the game. At the time she was my favourite female player. One of the most complete tennis players I have seen :worship: :bigclap: :bigclap: :bigclap: :bigclap: Frederick16 11-29-2005, 06:02 PM no not pattaya only. she asked octagon to ask for wildcards for a full schedule! Chloe le Bopper 11-29-2005, 07:59 PM lol i thibk it's great to see her back :) I think it might be a bit hard for her to come back, what'll happen about her ranking? I'm not sure what the rules regarding protected rankings on the wta are. I would assume that she simply won't have one... nor will she need one for entry purposes, I can't imagine her getting turned down for a WC anywhere. I'm sure that somebody on wtaworld will clarify the injury ranking rules sooner or later. Regardless, I won't get my hopes up about this :p Doris Loeffel 11-29-2005, 09:46 PM Well she's going to give a press conference on Saturday about her comeback - so we might know more then. But it for sure would be great to see her back. (But hopefully fitter than she was in Battaya....) Scotso 11-29-2005, 09:49 PM Arthur Ashe not funny. almouchie 11-29-2005, 09:55 PM r u sure Martina Hingis is making a comeback?? thats strange I thought her injury would prevent her from playing a full competitive season. I always thought she gave up her racket too soon it will be an uphill battle for her she is a good marketing scheme so tourny directors will give her WCs Scotso 11-29-2005, 09:57 PM yes we are sure. Frederick16 11-29-2005, 09:59 PM if you can beat the hell out of anyone on that team tennis thing in the us. you can also win against nathalie dechy and flavia pennetta... i hope we can see all the scary looks of the top players on the schedules next year!! hablovah19 11-29-2005, 11:09 PM I'm so happy she's back  except if she beats Momo :angel: Billabong 11-29-2005, 11:49 PM AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY DREAM IS COMING TRUE:banana:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She will wipe the floor with what is left over of ball-bashers and continue her destruction of the atrocity that is Serena Williams. Enough WTA talk for me. :) Fergie 11-30-2005, 12:27 AM OMG I still can't believe it! ... Martina!!! :hearts: :bounce: TenHound 11-30-2005, 01:49 AM I hope she can make it back to the Top. Yet, she's no Anna K in the looks department and, alas, the world hasn't forgotten the spice sisters of tennis. Leo 11-30-2005, 02:14 AM Good news. :) Not sure what she's getting herself into, but it'll be nice to see her on the tour again. Golfnduck 11-30-2005, 02:17 AM I hope Hingis plays well, I like her playing style. TennisGrandSlam 11-30-2005, 02:21 AM The WTA could use more spice. Will the Majors Feature an Exhibition MD match - on TV - Martina & Roger v. Steffi & Andre - loser dumped in pool of mud??? That'd be Great fun!! Martina totally dominated WTT, her team won (a lot thanks to her) and she won the Most Valuable Player award:worship:! So she probably used the WTT to see how she could still compete against the other players, and her results there probably encouraged to come back to the WTA tour:yeah:! GOOOOOOOO MARTINAAAAAAA:bounce::hearts::drool:!!!!! Socket 11-30-2005, 03:22 AM I wish her the best of luck. Her sublime game is simply gorgeous to watch. And I look forward to listenting to her slice and dice some of the current players in her press conferences. Mimi 11-30-2005, 03:26 AM i am so happy for her and her fans, i wish monica can come back too :wavey: TennisGrandSlam 11-30-2005, 03:37 AM She's probably also thinking, "Hell, if Lindsay can be #1 at 29 and Pierce can stage a comeback at 31, what can I do at 25?" But yeah, seeing her play against Lindsay/Kim/Henin-Hardenne? That would be fantastic. WTA 2006 is interesting Belgian Twins (Kim C, Henin-Hardenne) Williams Sisters (Venus, Serena) French Twins (Amelie M, Mary P) Lindsay D Russian Groups (Anastasia M, Maria S, Svetlana K, Nadia P, Elena D) also Jennifer C hablovah19 11-30-2005, 03:52 AM And I look forward to listenting to her slice and dice some of the current players in her press conferences. ditto  mandoura 11-30-2005, 04:05 AM i am so happy for her and her fans, i wish monica can come back too :wavey: Same here. Clara Bow 11-30-2005, 05:51 AM Pat Rafter or Marcelo Rios. I haven't had enough of them when they retired. Ditto- I was so sad to see both of them go. I thought both retired too early and both brought something unique to the game. I miss Rafter's play style, samurai ponytails, zinc oxide and "sorry mate"s. I miss Rios' great talent, questionable long on top/shaved underneath hairdo, and just the fact the he didn't give a toot about what people thought. Even though Guga is still not yet officially out- I am hoping that his physical problems are miraculously healed and he comes back 100%. I lurve him. I hope that Hingis does well in this comeback. She definatley had one of the most interesting personalities of the past 20 years in the women's game. I think that Dementiava has some spicy (albiet different style) personality too- but Hingis brought the drama like no other. i am so happy for her and her fans, i wish monica can come back too Me too- but I am afraid that it is too late for Monica. Frank Winkler 11-30-2005, 06:14 AM great tennis news. I just hope she does well. She was a truly great player for protracted period of time. Action Jackson 11-30-2005, 08:33 AM I can't stand the WTA, but this could be newsworthy. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/4484064.stm Hingis offered Melbourne wildcard Three-time Australian Open champion Martina Hingis will be offered a wildcard for next year's tournament - if she decides she wants to compete. Hingis, who retired due to injury in 2002, announced on Tuesday she planned to return to professional tennis. Tournament boss Paul McNamee said: "She'll be very popular and very welcome, but she has not finalised her plans as to when she's returning. "We're hoping it's in Australia, but it's not a fait accompli." McNamee said he had already made informal contact with the 25-year-old Swiss star's representatives. "It's great for the sport that she's coming back," he said. "We just don't know whether it will be in Australia." The 25-year-old Hingis, who won five Grand Slam titles during her career, made an earlier unsuccessful attempt to return to the circuit last February. But on Tuesday she said: "I was never happy my injuries cut my career short and ultimately forced my decision to step away from tennis. "I miss the game and the challenge of competing at the highest level of tennis, and I want to gauge whether I can stay healthy and compete against today's top players." its.like.that 11-30-2005, 08:39 AM great, who gives a toss about Hingis? go to wtaworld :retard: almouchie 11-30-2005, 09:45 AM i just read that in several places she really wants to come back should add flavor to the tour just by being there, & a few wins might get the attention of most he is a brilliant talent, no doubt about it, BUT is she truly fully fit & has put her injury behind how strong physically is she to stand the battering some of the younger player diss How legitimate a challenger would she be to the top girls I liked watching her play, always expect the unexpected from her DrJules 11-30-2005, 09:52 AM great, who gives a toss about Hingis? go to wtaworld :retard: Do you have to be so negative  avocadoe 11-30-2005, 11:58 AM oh wowowowowow, Hingis comeback would be fab and certainly spice my year. I bet she got so used to being the best that seeing the Williams sisters dominate the game was too much for her... if this is truly the case then she will probably last for a couple of months only... let me tell you now... after a couple of losses to Petrova or Sharapova she will probably quit again... DrJules 11-30-2005, 01:59 PM I feel that she quit the first time because she could not stand her losses to the younger and stronger players. Especially the Williams sisters... She quit because of ankle surgery in 2001 and 2002 which did not fully recover. I think she was leading the ladies points race at the time she left. I agree she may struggle to return, but her exit owed mostly to injuries; a problem all too evident in tennis today. Bubba08 11-30-2005, 05:24 PM It's almost impossible to make a come-back after a retirement of the ATP tour, whereas on the WTA, it is still possible. Frederick16 11-30-2005, 06:49 PM marcelo rios can be an candidate. i thought i heared something of that last this year... that he is comming back. whats true about that?
