Bec and Lleyton welcome baby girl

29nov05

BEC and Lleyton Hewitt have welcomed the birth of their first child, a girl.

"Lleyton and Bec Hewitt are pleased to announce the overnight arrival of their first child, a healthy baby girl," publicist Rob Aivatoglou said today.
The baby was born at Sydney's North Shore Private Hospital at 1.45 am (AEDT). "At this stage Lleyton and Bec have not announced a name for their new arrival," Mr Aivatoglou said.

"Mother and baby are both doing extremely well. Lleyton and Bec are absolutely thrilled.

"Most importantly, everything went smoothly and mother and daughter are well.

"Bec and Lleyton very much look forward to taking their daughter home in the coming days."

Mr Aivatoglou said the couple had no further comment other than to thank the public for their "generous support" in recent weeks.

"They have genuinely appreciated the thoughts of well wishes as this most exciting time in their lives has approached," he said.

Bec and Lleyton's baby lobs in

29nov

BEC Cartwright and Lleyton Hewitt have welcomed the birth of their first child, a girl, their publicist said today.

"Lleyton and Bec Hewitt are pleased to announce the overnight arrival of their first child, a healthy baby girl," Rob Aivatoglou said.

Bec, 22, and Lleyton, 24, met five years ago at a Starlight Foundation charity tennis day.

But they began dating only late last year and became engaged six weeks later, in late January.

Hewitt popped the question on the night of his loss in the final of the Australian Open.

Their engagement came less than four months after Hewitt's break-up with former tennis world number one Kim Clijsters, and followed Cartwright's four-year romance with Home and Away co-star Beau Brady.

The pair later announced they had purchased a palatial home on Sydney's northern beaches and married at the Sydney Opera House in July.

The couple have sold the story rights to the birth to women's magazine Woman's Day.
Previously, the pair had sold the story of their engagement and pregnancy to competitor New Idea.

The couple have sold the story rights to the birth to women's magazine Woman's Day.
Previously, the pair had sold the story of their engagement and pregnancy to competitor New Idea.
For weeks they were continuously on the front of New Idea and then Bec started writing for Woman's Day in the lead up so it all changed over... I am in charge of the magazines at my supermarket and funnily enough, the sales of New Idea has improved and Woman's Day has declined since they switched over :p

ANYWAY...

I'm not a boy, but if I were, I would love to be named Dakota, because then everyone would think I was a cowboy and I'd get to wear a cool Stetson without looking like a complete dork. :) :) That doesn't happen if your name is Stanley or Marshall or Irving.

Bec and Lleyton had a gut feeling (which I shared) that it was going to be a boy, and they had picked out the name Cody. We were all wrong, and it's apparently back to the drawing board on girls' namesInteresting. Did they just choose not to find out the gender before (I know sometimes there's a medical reason that prevents the test from being done)? I wonder what having a little princess around will do to Lleyton and if it'll change how he is on court :) I remember once I had a teacher, and all the kids in years ahead of us said this woman was a horrible, mean, angry lady.. but when we had her, she'd had a kid and was as nice as could be

I like Cody, btw :)

Lisbeth
11-29-2005, 10:36 PM
I think I read they didn't want to be told the gender beforehand. Some people don't :)

Lleyton's always been incredibly sweet around children but it will be great to see him with his own kid and I agree it will be interesting to see if it changes him.

What's in a name? Your thoughts on naming baby Hewitt
Wednesday Nov 30 06:00 AEDT
By Juan-Carlo Tomas
ninemsn

Star couple Bec and Lleyton Hewitt have welcomed the birth of their first child, a girl, born at Sydney's North Shore Private Hospital early yesterday morning.

But amid the joy and congratulations all news parents share, what's everyone calling her? What, we're left asking, is her name? Bec's provided few clues, but she did say there were lots of things left to do in her most recent Woman's Day column.

RELATED LINKS
VOTE: Which name is best?
Long odds to find royalty

"So many unknowns, but it makes it all the more exciting," she wrote. "We're ready!"

But not on the naming front. We asked you, our readers, for ideas and you flooded us with suggestions at the rate of five or six emails a minute!

At first, we thought it'd be easy picking a winner. There was the usual slew of readers recommending their own names (seriously, have your morning coffee before logging on) and a curious contingent who thought it apt to ask why anyone cared about the news — when obviously you did. And enough to write and tell us.

So anyway, a good 800+ emails later, and we've condensed the top choices into a vote, which we'll pass on to the happy couple care of Woman's Day.

What did well? You liked Hayley, Bec's character on Home & Away; Britney, presumably because she's just had a baby herself; Bella, short for Annabella, Isabella and a slew of others, maybe because it sounds vaguely Italian; and Summer, because Bec's former soap is based in Summer Bay and summer is (technically) around the corner. That still didn't explain why someone suggested Autumn. Oh well.

Then there were some real doozies. Ball Boy topped the list (although the new bub is a girl), followed by Cleyton, Laybeck, Love, Bayton, Lebecca, Hewbec, Starlight, Tenaway, Hot Stuff, Come On, Paris, Adelaide and Sydney. There were double barrelled offerings, like Deuce-Summer, and a host of foreign names with meanings we doubt are authentic. Nice try, but we're pretty sure 'Harmony' means just that, and not something else. You know who you are.

I think I read they didn't want to be told the gender beforehand. Some people don't :)

Lleyton's always been incredibly sweet around children but it will be great to see him with his own kid and I agree it will be interesting to see if it changes him.

Hope it does not change him ON court. He tried being nice ON court years ago and kept losing. As long as he is sweet off court thats what counts.

I'm amazed @ all the people who actually thinks about names for a celebrities' baby. I don't even know what names i would gave to my children if i had some, so i won't spend time thinking about baby Hewitt's name

For one of few times I agree with Socket on something... Cody is an awesome name. Some of you know my female dog is named Cody, and she's AWESOME! Plus, over here you've got billboards, erected by (or something) a company named CODY. It says it under the posters...and it always makes me smile, and think of my dog. I sound sooo retarded. ;)

I think I read they didn't want to be told the gender beforehand. Some people don't :)ah ok cool :) My mom always told me that they couldn't do the test on me b/c of some position I was in or whatever, so they just picked a girl and a boy name :p So I didn't know if it was that they didn't want to know or couldn't find out. I'd love to be able to wait but I just don't think I could do it, knowing the information was out there and stuff

Can you believe that Noelle, when I saw that earlier I was like.... oh. my. god. The poor child. But, I suppose her parents kinda asked for attention when they sold pictures of her before she was even born

I look forward to reading about the child in trashy womens magazines here. Maybe they can do some sort of 'Truman Show' with her, and make mummy and daddy Hewitt more money :D

To each his own I suppose; I knew that I was having boys and we had the names picked out months before they were born.

My brother and his wife agreed on boys' names as soon as they knew that their youngest was going to be a boy. Then, he was born, and my brother decided that none of the names "fit." Took him close to a week to make a decision. My sister-in-law was ready to kill him.

When I was pregnant with my first child, we picked a name for a boy and one for a girl. I didn't know what it will be. I hate to know. When he arrived, we chose a completely different name  .

The second time, the name imposed itself but that's another story.

I hope they choose a nice name. I hated mine when I was a kid. It is so uncommon that everybody picked on me for it. I like it now though.

Fair enough. Yes, a magazine is paying them to take exclusive photos and do articles about the baby's arrival. Personally, I think that Lleyton's principal motivation is not so much the money (although I'm sure he's happy to take as much as they want to give him), but to piss off the rest of the Aussie media by denying them any photos of the baby and as much information about her as possible. The papers that criticize him and mockingly call him "Little Lleyton" will get nada about the baby, while Lleyton and Bec will get paid big bucks for a perfectly lit photos of Baby Hewitt and her adoring parents and fluff articles with absolutely no mention of anything involving Chela, Blake, or foot faults. Sounds like a great deal to me. Lleyton owes his agent a big Christmas bonus for this one.
