ATP 2005: YEAR IN REVIEW

disturb3d

- Nalbandian awakens potential, captures the year's biggest title
- Federer dominates the quick courts
- Nadal dominates the slow courts
- Roddick avoids Roger at any cost
- Hewitt continues to deny that there are players more talented than he
- Agassi blames every loss on injury
- Argentina is the target of Drug reports
- Gay Croatians fill up these boards
- Disturbed release their third album

Breakthroughs of the Year

1. DaveMeister, Nalbandian
The most talented Argentine, the best player to have never won a slam.
Most had thought that Dave would never win the big one, let alone face Federer in the final of the Masters Cup;
end up winning and putting a stop to half a dozen records, all the while sky rocketing his ranking 6 places.
------------------------------
2. Ljubicic, Ivan
No doubt about it, Ivan belongs where he is.
Throw in a poor 2006, and he'll still finish among the top 10.
------------------------------
3. Ginepri, Rob
He's like Lleyton.
Yet with bigger ground strokes, a powerful serve, and a badass gimmick. You can't go wrong.
------------------------------
4. Blake, James
'Dramatic career-threatening injury' bullshit aside:
Jim has shown us that he's able to go toe-to-toe with the best on fast hardcourt.
I doubt he's capable of making a splash anywhere else. Besides, 75% of tournaments are played on slower surfaces.
------------------------------
5. Davydenko
Who cares about this guy.
He deserves to have made the top 10, but someone should really show him the door.
------------------------------

Scams of the Year

1. Performance Drugs
Anyone in the business will tell you that half the players within the top 50 are filling up on performance enhancers.
The only question is; why take action against the Argentines, not the Russians, Czechs or Americans?
After all the Argentines are home to half the world's top 10 line-up.
------------------------------
2. Roger Federer
Notice how the press loves to praise Roger's every move, while not making a mention of his on-court arrogance.
Sure Rodge is a fine and dandy guy during interviews and easy match-ups.
But when he doesn't get his way on court, the bitch flings balls anywhere and everywhere; including ball kids.
All the while swearing at linesman, and somehow maintaining his perfect 'ambassador' label.

It's easy to be a nice guy when you're setting records and going undefeated for six months on end.
But every once in a while, when his opponent has the upper-hand, the Rodge from the 90's tends to appear.
------------------------------
3. Roddick seeded ahead of Hewitt at Wimbledon
One word, WTF
------------------------------

Jackasses of the year

1. Tommy Robredo
Boy, shave that monobrow. And easy with the high-riding, you're the geek of the ATP.
------------------------------
2. Alfonsojose
We know you're a fag. Get over it.
... Its gay to be gay.
------------------------------

A look into 2006

The 2006 line-up should look a little something like this:
1. Federer
2. Nadal
3. Nalbandian
4. Hewitt
5. Ljubicic
6. Coria
7. Ginepri
8. Berdych
9. Roddick
10. Gasquet

This is taking into account that Safin and Agassi will be sidelining the majority of '06.
And that Nadal will be trading his clay boots for a pair of sneakers (indoor hardcourt).

:haha: Wow, reading your whole post is like watching a brain melt down. It starts off -somewhat- intelligent, but by the time we get to the end you're babbling, openly trolling, and gay-bashing all in one fell swoop.

Besides, we all know Robredo is the hottest thing in the top 20.

Disagree.

It starts babbling and ends babbling. It's just based on who he likes.

Or Hispanics or blacks. Hell, I'm surprised that you took the time to spell Nalbandian right, rather than "Nalbino".

I am not taking sides here but an honnest question:

Isn't arguing a way of exchanging ideas and not necessarily a win/lose game? Can't 2 individuals argue and end up both winning more insight? Just wondering. :)

Nalbandian definitely has made the breakthrough more so having defeated the perfect score of federer in the final & captured the title. he only has 4 titles on the circuit. somebody of his taalent should be winning more, other argentinian surely are.
Nadal & gasquet have been fresh air on the tour. while Safin keeps surprising us by doing his talent justice & winning AO. old timers are stagnant Roddick, Hewitt & contingent. Agassi maybe chasing one more ellusive GS win.

Yes. it does bring different perspectives on all issues. Even trolls by provoking reactions generate ideas and opinions. If you look at older thread by the end every possible view has often been considered.

Federer wasn't 100% if so Nalby would have never won besides Nalby shouldn't even be in the masters if not of all the pull-outs.

Had Safin, hewitt, Roddick and Agassi been playing Nalby wouldn't stand a chance he was lucky this year

David on the other hand swept past every opponent, and outplayed Roger in 4 out of the 5 sets.

Only a fit Safin is capable of repeating such a result.

Hewitt did so well against Nalbandian last time they played, surely it would have been all over for David in that match.
