It's finally here.

The Australian summer of golf is here. First tournament is the classic Australian Open. Peter Lonard is defending his title.

The first tournament is always hard to work out but the big names are the ones whom I will be looking at for the round balls.

Back later with plays.

At the moment I currently like the following top 10 finish plays.

Peter Lonard @ $2.25
Stuart Appleby @ $2.25

Both represent good value. Can double your money there. I can't see these 2 blokes not finishing in the top 10. Lonard is in good form as is Appleby and they both fire here in Australia.

Outside chance for top 10

James Nitties @ $13.00 - This guy is a good golfer. I rate him. If I play this, it will be small stakes. He's my wildcard this summer. I can safely say now that James Nitties is going to have an awesome golfing summer.

More to come.

LOST - Lonard
WON - Appleby

Robert Allenby has shot a course record -9 and leads.
Spencer Levin an unknown American is second.

Adam Scott answering his critics and is not too far back.

My wildcard Nitties is sitting tied 7th on -4.

1. Robert Allenby -9
2. Spencer Levin -8
3. Scott Laycock -7
4. Adam Scott -6
4. Geoff Ogilvy -6
6. Nick O'Hern - 5
7. Brett Rumford -4
7. James Nitties -4
-----------------------
16. Stuart Appleby - 2
63. Peter Lonard +2

I expect Lonard and Appleby to fire up the leaderboard in the next 3 rounds.

Mate where did you get those sort of prices about a top 10 finish for those guys.

On Sports TAB they were both $2.75 for a top 4 finish. So either the bookie you are using has stuffed up monumentally or you are telling porkies.

Sportingbet.

The only player paying under $2 for a top 10 finish was Adam Scott. Off memory he was paying $1.72

I think Allenby was $3 odd. Or he was between $2.20 and $3.50 off memory.

Sportingbet is good for golf. Top 10 finishes. You will find good odds with Sportingbet for top 10 finish's in golfing tournaments. They don't usually have many under $2.

Round 2 - 3 balls.

Going with Lonard again.

Peter Lonard @ $1.83 to beat Richard Green and Eric Ramsay

Also adding.

Brett Rumford @ $2.75 to beat John Senden and Nathan Green

Lonard did his best to blow it at the end there mate. Had a four stroke buffer with three holes to go and scraped home with a one shot win in the three ball after Richard Green missed a makeable birdie putt on the last.

I just need Parry to get up in his three ball now and it will be a perfect day. Not looking that great though at the moment as he sits at one over for the round through 10.

Cheers,

Sparks

How'd you go Sparks?

Rumford had a shocker.

Lonard can say good-bye to a win unless the conditions change.

I think Allenby has this tournament won. Can't see anyone cathing him unless he blows the lead and he is a class player and I can't see him blowing it.

But who knows what the weekend will do. The two balls tomorrow will be interesting.

Lonard and Appleby top 10 are still in with a chance.

Nitties top 10 is probably slightly in with a chance but I doubt it.

Allenby leads very comfortably, but he might retire because of a problem with his hand.

Allenby leads comfortably.

I should have Appleby top 10 won. He's on -1.

Lonard isn't far off the top 10. All he needs is a wind free round in the morning and early afternoon and he might find himself top 10.

Nick O'Hern over Aaron Baddeley @ $1.80 - Liked what I saw of O'Hern today.

Allenby will play. It's not on the official site that he's pulled out and they still have him on the live leaderboard.

He is leading by 5 - he'd be crazy to pull out.

Today I've taken Pampling to win in the market without Allenby at $5.

I also decided to have a small bet on Sheehan to beat Allenby in their two ball match up @ $2.35.

Here's hoping for an exciting afternoon of golf.

Cheers,
