A party thread - very good idea!

My favourite song right now is Itchycoo Park by the Small Faces - featuring the line "It's all too beautiful" :D

You all can be glad you can't hear me ;)

Hope we'll have LOADS MORE opportunities to party in 2006!!!!

The champagne and hors d'oeuvres coming up!!!

Kyla
11-21-2005, 07:27 PM
No more champagne for me - I had too much yesterday (I usually don't drink)... I turned very giggly indeed :D But maybe that wasn't the champagne after all! And I've already eaten all the shrimps

Now Kyla....the guests love chilled shrimp with cocktail sauce.

Kyla
11-21-2005, 07:56 PM
Right now I'm listening to the soundtrack of Velvet Goldmine - nice 70s-style glam rock :rocker:

And some original 70s songs like "Come up and see me (make me smile)" by Steve Harley :D

sigmagirl91
11-21-2005, 07:56 PM
How about some disco songs?

Born to be alive? Or some Barry White? Ok, not exactly disco...

Hm, there's also some classic Roxy Music on my CD - I looooove Roxy Music...

BTW, does anyone know what kind of music David likes? I just realize I have no clue...

Kyla

I would love to join your David party [and yes, what music does he like? what food does he like? Italian and Argie BBQs?] but I'm afraid that some of the Fed fans think I'm a traitor... so, have fun!! [just as long as David doesn't BBQ that big fish he caught yesterday... did he say he was going fishing AFTER Shanghai??] ;)

Kyla
11-21-2005, 08:14 PM
I think it looks like something straight out of Pulp Fiction ;) Just don't call him Travolta

You can still come.

Kyla
11-21-2005, 08:17 PM
Nah, you're definitely NOT a traitor - just look at your avvy ;)

You're probably right about the food... In an interview this summer he said he likes anything his Mum cooks (and since she's Italian...) and also mentioned asados...

And YES he will go fishing now but if he thinks he can go and fry Rogi, he'll be in trouble!

sigmagirl91
11-21-2005, 08:22 PM
Ok....that's fair. BBQ....that's cool. What sides should we serve?

Kyla
11-21-2005, 08:24 PM
As long as it's not krautsalat

And may I please have some jacket potatoes - I don't like meat...

Silawen
11-21-2005, 08:27 PM
Are we stuffing him with BBQ food? O_O Does he need that? Lol.

Kyla
11-21-2005, 08:28 PM
Nah, we're not stuffing him - definitely NOT!!!!

He has to dance off the calories anyway!

Kyla
11-21-2005, 08:33 PM
Hm, cool I'm just reading on the atp site that Argentina is the second country to qualify for the World Team Cup next year... I just wonder whether David will be playing next year?

[shhh... don't tell anyone I'm coming... I'll be incognito... ]

Mmm... asados, me gustan!! I read that his town was going crazy drinking tons of coffee and watching his match on TV early in the morning. I bet Alda [that's David's Mom, right?] cooks great Italian food!

[about my avvy -- I couldn't resist and David deserves a few days... I'll soon be back to Rogi]

I thought what David said to Rogi about letting him keep this trophy was cute! Nice guys -- rivals on the court but they seem friendly enough! ;)

Since I can't rep you again... I noticed that David looks fitter than this time last year -- I was watching the Madrid F 2004 and he definitely was carrying a few extra pounds then -- must be all that good food... :p

Kyla
11-21-2005, 08:41 PM
I have the feeling all of Argentina is going crazy

And since yesterday I finally understand football fans who are driving up and down the main streets of their town, waving flags... :D

Yes he definitely was... I was live at Vienna last year and he looks totally different now... But last autumn he just came back from being injured for ages... He probably had too much time to eat

Also I think his black shorts make him look slimmer...

hello! i have few free minutes this evening so i decided to open the net and mtf and join the extra party :aparty: i am so happy and proud for David... when a friend was texting me about the score live i simply couldnt believe... but to tell you the truth, after i heard Momo won the WTA champs then i thought it's David's turn :yeah:

ok, one strawberry cake plus ice coffee, I already had some champagne yesterday, but it's never over

I think he is still on the way, but will arrive at his home soon. They have a celebration party in the hotel late night of last Sunday. I hope David holds his great memory of Shanghai :) and I am sure the fans here will never forget him.

BTW, I got some pics of him in this TMC, but have to spare some time to arrange them (too many), and I will select good ones and post them here for sure later.

I think I am a very lucky fan. I even didn't think he can come to Shanghai before TMC. And then, Roddick withdraw, he came. I just thought it would be good for me to get another chance to watch his live matches in my own city after China Open, but I never expected he could achieve sth. :p but he made it, and that's by beating Federer the God in the final. I was too excited at that time. You know, all the people of the court shouted Roger Roger, some arg fans and I shouted VAMOS DAVID, but that's no use because the "roger roger" shouting is too loud, filling the whole court. And I was really afraid David can't bear that stress, especially the umpire made some bad mistakes to him. But he did it finally, he broke through the Fed final rule. It's sooo hard, sooo tough. My heart just burst out my throat when he got the MP, and all of us here just standed up, waiting for that moment. Once our champion got his last point, we bursted into tears, and hurrah!!! He was lied on the court, then runned to his mother and Vicky, he cried, that's a really touching moment....I will never forget this match!!!! This will definitely be one of my best tennis memories.

Indeed, David didn't care much about the audience's shouting "Roger".
What I can't understand is whether the audience knew their behaviors didn't respect the other player-Roger's opponent.

I don't know if you were in the live court at that time or not. But from my view, the spectators shouted:"Roger Roger" is definitely not the inrespect to David. They support Roger, and they only shouted that when one point off, and became quiet again when one point began. Roger is very popular in Shanghai. If you saw the court, you will find it was full of red Swiss flags, that's saying enough. But supporting a player doesn't mean this is a behavior of showing inrespect to another one, especially Roger was much behind at beginning of the final set.

Bah, just like German TV news!!! They spent most of the little time they reported on it blabbing about Fed!

And I haven't seen any newspapers yet - I have to check with my parents - but I wouldn't be suprised if there's nothing about the final at all in there! And this is Munich where he won in May! I think they should make him an honorary citizen now!!!!
