This week I didn't care who won Shanghai so long as it wasn't Ivan Lube-a-dick. :devil:

I'll be watching this match later but it's going to be tough to beat the Safin-Federer AO semifinal as match of the year.

nalbandian played great in the whole match, actually he should win the second set, i think federer is a bit lucky to have the 2nd set to be honest... but a great match to watch...

but match of the year, personally i think its coria vs nadal in rome final....

His losses are quite good, though, don't you think? Federer-Safin, Federer-Gasquet, Federer-Nalbandian - well, Federer-Nadal was pretty ugly, but other than that... Too bad Federer doesn't have quite as much bravado as Serena, or he'd be going around saying "When I lose, I make people's careers," or whatever that was.

There have been at least 10 better matches than this in 2005.

Although the fact that it was Federer getting beaten makes it quite special :D

I hope next year he can win these distance matches, though. He was quite good this year in winning best of three matches (apart from the Gasquet loss), but in five setters - his record stands at 1-2. True, he doesn't play many five setters, but he still needs to be prepared for that sort of situation.
