Okay- I admit it- I miss Hewitt

Hewitt's yelling at the linespeople and umps can drive me crazy.

But- I miss him loads. I miss his enthusiasm, his fire, and his fight. Not to mention that this night at a party I head "Cattle and Cane" by the Go-Betweens which although it does not ring familiar at all to Hewitt -because it a very Australian song by an Aussie band reminds me of Hewie.

I enjoy Hewitt more than I know that I should- and love his fight. His match against Feds in the USO- even though he lost- showed that he was beginning to get grasp on Roger.

Is anyone else anxious for Hewitt to come back? And I so want to see another great match between he and Rafa at the 2006 Oz Open.

That match was nothing more than Fed fucking around. Hewitt was awful as number one and thankfully his days at the top are over.

Might I say- this thread was not started to get v-cash. I don't even know what v-cash does. Can you buy clothing with it (I would like that)... can you pay your electric bill with it ( my very understanding husband would love that.)

I just started this because I like and miss Hewitt and was curious to know if others felt the same. :)

That match was nothing more than Fed fucking around.

Gotta disagree from my viewpoint. I thought that Hewitt played very well and Feds did too- was a good match in my mind.

I totally agree - I'm a huge fan, the tour really isn't the same without him, I miss him too. I hope he comes back and really makes his mark at the start of 2006 - Aussie Open final/trophy would be great, but let's wait and see. Whether you like Hewitt or not (and I certainly do) you can't say he's not a great tennis player, because he really is. For much of his career he's been consistently in the top 5 or higher in the world, an amazing achievement, and I'm sure he's not done yet. If he didn't feel he had a chance to win the slams then he wouldn't still be playing the game, he's said that before.

I miss Lleyton also very much, his personality, his determination, his enthusiasm, his dedication and his fight are a big loss to tennis for me personally.

Other long time-injured players that I'm missing are Escudé, Verkerk and Safin... even PimPim even though I'm not a big fan of him normally, but his big serves are missed ;)

Of course, I miss him. He's a great player and a great sportsman.

I just don't feel so badly because I know he's at home with his massively pregnant wife and I'm happy he's making that a priority. :)

I do think the Masters Cup is missing a lot of fire and charisma without him there.

There aren't many players that fight so hard, and I miss that. So many players just don't seem to put that much heart into it.

Nikolay is one, but I can't think of two many others. Nadal?

this was written very nice:)

I miss him a lot, he brings this enthusiasm in every match, i totally agree with you. He even can bring the one he plays against to have more power. It's nice to see people who can do this.

And he looks a bit like Spongebob :p :smoke:

So the Masters Cup is over

No sign of the Baby being Born

He could have played after all

Except, would he have wanted to take that chance? Would he have wanted to leave his very pregnant wife who may not be feeling very well right now?

I think Lleyton has his priorities straight.

I miss Hewitt a ton. I caught myself cheering for him during the USO and realized I had def. warmed up in regard to his "tennis persona", but until the TMC started I hadn't realized how much I actually enjoy his play.

I mean, like him or not, and I certainly cannot speak for everyone, it must be admitted that Lleyton is essential to the sport. You are going to turn on his match if its on, if for nothing else, just to see what he is going to do.

I noticed especially this past week that Hewitt's spirit isn't one commonly had by the other players. You have to respect him for that. He really wants to play and does actualy care about his success, unlike some others who just throw matches away.

I miss Marat, too. :(

Lleyton's old school. He's got the kind of spirit we saw back in the 70s, when Nasty, Connors, and Johnnny Mac were in their prime. He definitely would have fit in better with those guys than today's players.

I really miss Hewitt too. When he showed up this year (i.e. essentially AO, IW, Wimbledon and USO), he did very well, so it's frustrating to see him mentioned more often in the rainbow press than in tennis magazines lately. On one hand, it's great because he's obviously happy and he wanted it so. On the other hand, it's a little bit disappointing for me as a tennis fan. And I wonder if he will give the priority to his tennis career next year with the baby?
I understand his decision, of course, I can't blame him for it, but it's too bad for tennis.

I don't think he should put tennis before family- but I don't see why having a family means that you can't be a great tennis player. :) You may not be able to play as many tournaments, etc. but I don't think that means that you can't still have some great results. And- I don't think that his having a family has anything to do with his rather large number of injuries since the 2005 Aussie Open.

Hewitt`s career ain`t over yet!!!

#Honestly believe he`s got another 2-years of Top-5 play left in him(~_^). Hopefully he can string together a couple of injury free years in 2007 & 08...if not then the year after maybe???...
