The second set should have been easier, really. I was :fiery: when Pascal Maria overruled a correct call on BP in the first game of the second set. He really had no business doing it on an important point, especially when the line in question was to the far side from him. David got pissed off at him too and did something (was at the computer when he did that :lol: ) but apologised to him at the end. :)

US Open 2003 4th round in 4 sets. While Roger did do a fair bit of self destructing in that match and despite the fact that he beat Nalbandian in their first match here in the RR, Nalbandian was pretty cold and not into the groove. After his last two performances against Ljubicic and Davydenko, Nalbandian just hits the ball cleaner with so much meat and I am still not convinced Roger is 100% even after today. So in a best of five set match I would favour Nalbandian assuming he doesn't have any major mental lapses.

Now its over to David and Roger. They started the event with a brilliant match. If they repeat that it will be one of the best year end finals.

ATP and the Chinese are chasing more money.. They sacrificed a fair approach to all players in process. Clearly, the 1st group had a serious advantage against the 2nd group having a day of rest before semis. Nikolai was very close to levelling the match in the second set.. A little bit of extra freshness was probably all he lacked for that.. And , I imagine the second semifinal would not have been such a blowout if tired Gaudio who ran a serious mileage yesterday didn't have to play a rested Federer today..

Yes, because God knows Davydenko went through the wringer in achieving that 3-0 record in the group stages. His win over Puerta yesterday was so full of blood, sweat, toil and tears that I almost ached watching it as a viewer!

I agree that it was a disadvantage to Gaudio to have to come back today after a long match yesterday, but to blame the one-sided nature of his defeat on that would be too generous to him. He looked like a deer in headlights out there, mentally rather than physically flat.
