Surface is like ice, yet sticky?

Coria has been quoted as saying that the surface is like playing on ice, yet Andre and Ivan and even Nadal have said the surface is sticky. How can one surface be both slippery and sticky?

The court isn't slippery at all.

When Corias says is like ice he means it's very fast

When Corias says is like ice he means it's very fast... and difficult to play on (for him)

Oh that makes a lot more sense. But another question. If the surface is sticky, I'm assuming balls don't get too much bounce then? Wouldnt that make it easier to get to?

I think he meant it is like playing on ice in that it is fast.

On carpet courts the bounce is low, it's much more difficult to hit the balls , and besides as the players can't slide on the court as for example on clay , it's much more difficult to catch the opponent's shots when he hits angled , shots in the corners...

Thanks galaxystorm. I think I haveto watch the match on this surface in order to get a true understanding.

I think Ljubo said the surface isn't fast but it's "like ice" and slippery.

ETA: I saw Nalby/Federer and I thought it was playing fast.

I remember reading an article saying the same thing. I just assumed I misread.

Guille said it was like playing on ice, but Ivan said it wasn't that fast. He did say it was sticky though.
