The event goes back to 1970 and has been played in a round robin formate most years. It was a single elimination event from 1982-1985 with a 16 player field with the top 8 getting a bye into the QF round. IN 1970 and 1971, the tournament only consisted of a round robin and no SF or F round.

Yes, I know, I was referring to if the tournment itself was a round robin format or not. The winning streaks don't take into account if the tournament was a round robing format or not.

Ivan will be VERY tough to beat especially since Roger had difficulties returning last time he came back from a long layoff. He had a hard time returning Ivan's serve period this year and it'll only be compounded by tis very fast surface.

I dont understand your explanation here, NYCtennisfan. I thought in TMC 2002, it was also round robin and so Federer has at four different times been undefeated in round robin. If I missing something (since you wrote 2 up there), maybe you can explain to me. Thanks.

I meant undefeated througout the tournament, round robin play and then elimination rounds (SF, F).

Some of the YEC's did not have round robin play at all (see first post) so that's why I was making the distinction. :)

A win in the final and Federer ties the record. Incredible.
