So, a year after defeating the Poo and Hanescu at Queen's, Flanagan finds himself confined to qualifying for satellite tournaments :scared:

This week he qualified and has now reached a shock QF place after defeating the in-form Martin Lee in 3 sets...

...Flanners is back and on the rise! :yeah: :haha:

I notice that my old coach Neil Bamford (my claim to fame :p ) is still in the draw.

Based on the QF results, you have a 1 in 3 chance of guessing correctly who he is...he is British.

I'm pretty sure 1 of the losing Britons is younger than me and 1 is a few years older...so that leaves only 1 player it could be ;)

He's got a pretty nice game, strong in all departments. From what I saw of him, my only fear was that he lacks a truly great shot to reach the top. Although I thought the same about Murray, and he's doing ok for himself.

One of my favourite quotes on his website:

:haha:

As keen lovers of sport we saw this as our crusade and an opportunity to become involved in something that we love and possibly help to make Ian our first British winner of Wimbledon. We agreed to sponsor Ian for at least three years and embarked on a program of help and support in conjunction with his parents and started what has become affectionally known as " Team Flanagan ". Ian is a natural and genuine tennis prospect with great enthusiasm and personality, and since we started working with him we have seen him attain his first world ranking status, and more recently at Queens handle the media generally with such maturity that there is an obvious star in the making.

But no further this week I'm afraid :sobbing:

...Frogs killed us today, first Greg and now Ian lost 3/6 7/6 (8) 7/6 (6) :(
No doubt he had mps in there too...seems the Frenchie was too slippery and hopped out of his grasp
