Will Roddick win another Grand Slam in his career ??

I really don't think Roddick can win another one...but maybe if good guys like Federer, Nadal Safin and Hewitt won't be there at one Grand Slam who knows...However Roddick is the TOP 5 who has the most to improve and i'm not sure he can do it...godd luck to him anyway

I don't see why he cannot. He is 23 and room to improve. I am not his fan but I don't laugh at his misfortune either.

but he is on his way down the ranks. just as i predicted.

Carito_90
11-09-2005, 03:59 PM
He's been closer to winning a GS than Lleyton this year

Someday he will, when Roger is injured or gets beaten before he gets to play him.

R.Federer
11-09-2005, 04:01 PM
He has come close this year in two slams. If he can win some other important tournamens, like T.M.S. it will help himto get back some of his confidence and he may have a chance. Wimbledon is difficult because Roge is much better, but on rebound he has good record

only if the usta manipulates scheduling like in 2001 and no one in the top10 shows up

I don't think so. And Roger isn't Andy's only problem with winning another GS.

And you're still pissed that Andy royally kicked Lubadick's ass fair and square that year.

Surely Fed might miss a GS injured sometime.. so perhaps he might...

Lleytonisthebest
11-09-2005, 04:46 PM
hmmm who was closer to win a GS this year between Andy and Lleyton ?? I don't know....Roddick made AO semi-finals (defeated by ..Hewitt!!) FO second-round, Wimbledon final ( clearly defeated by federer) and the US Open's first round. Hewitt did the AO final (safin won pretty easily), Wimbledon semis and US Open semis. I think Hewitt was still closer, every time losing against the eventual winner

Tennis_Passion
11-09-2005, 05:01 PM
Not really, his best chances are at Wimbledon and US Open. But he is not going to repeat another US Open win because the rest of tour is not afraid of him and his USTA and his crazy fans and etc. etc. anymore. And at Wimbledon, he will always be Roger's bitch:). So it depends, no one gave Goran his one and only slam trophy, he had to wait until Pete doesnt matter anymore. So that'll be a long time from now, but probably a one-slam wonder.

Lee
11-09-2005, 05:13 PM
Costa won RG at 27.
Thomas Johansson won AO at 26 almost 27.
Ivanisevic won Wimbledon at 29 almost 30.

So I can't see why it's not possible for Roddick to win another Slam in his career.

This question could also be asked about Hewitt. Heck, I asked it a year ago

see: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=12799

Anyhoo, Andy needs to make some improvements in his game (return of serve being one) and restore his confidence; but I think he's still got a good chance to win another major.

Aww twinny, dear deluded twinny. Noone can act that well. He was hurt. We'll do a rematch sometime though, k? :p

I agree with gillian, he needs to improve parts of his game, which he's in the process of doing. Return of serve is key, like she said, once that starts to click and he matures, then maybe who knows? Wierder things have happened.

Like I said, you're not even half the troll that I am. Roddick was injured, it was a fluke win for Ivan and everybody knows this. Ivan will forevermore have that dreaded MTF asterisk * next to his name http://67.19.129.138/mtf/images/icons/icon10.gif. And if he should "win" TMC, it will be because Roger was injured or that he was up against some dirtballers and then we will just add another asterisk * next to the other asterisk. We've got Ivan's bases covered. hehehe.

Right now it's not looking good for him, but honestly nobody is really winning anything good right now because of Federer.

I didn't think Marat would win the AO(or another slam for that matter), but he proved me wrong.

You spend three years in the top five because you suck at tennis, and he usually can get to the at least the semis of the slams, so who knows. He has a shot.

It doesn't look like it right now but if i had to put money on it, I would say yes. He can't win RG but he can win one of the other three especially if Fed is defeated before Roddick meets him.

If no Top Tier players are playing well, he could get another gift. Or if it again rains like hell @NYC, and again he's the only one who gets rest between his matches.

Andy is definitely a good player. He has the ability to win more grand slams, maybe 2 or 3.
But the way he won the US Open in 2003 was really ugly.I felt so sorry for David.

Yes he still has a chance considering his young age. He's not one of those who will be playing top tennis when he's around 30 due to his power style but he surely can win another slam in the next 2 to 3 years. You got to remember all the other players will also have ups and downs in their careers. So far, it looks like you only foresee Andy going down the rankings but it could also happen with any player. Consider the current TMC situation where quite a few players have bennefited from 3 players' withdrawals and got the lucky chance to earn some descent points.

partygirl
11-10-2005, 03:12 AM
the fact is andy is one of the only few players that for the last three years has consistently gotten to grand slam finals...getting to the finals is crucial in winning them right??

-so why is this discussion so long?...yes the oppenent does matter, but still.

OK... two of those you mentioned make sense and two I have to ask, "What the.....?" Nadal and Federer represent major challenges to a Roddick GS, but Safin and (especially) Hewitt? I don't think so....

Burn.

Will Ljubicic win ANYTHING of note on the ATP Tour (and I'm talking about tournaments, not Davis Cup :p).

Of course Andy can win another slam. He's been in at least one GS Finals every year since he won his US Open title in 2003, but the problem is that he's got Federer 3/3 times he's made another final. Right now the only player (s) that can stop him from grabbing another one is Federer obviously, and maybe Nadal (they still haven't played in an actual tournament since Andy steamrolled Rafa in the 04 USO). You can also throw in Nalbandian, Safin and probably the young guns(though they still need a year or two to really come into their own). Andy CAn win another Slam, just like many other players can win another slam, or their very first slam for that matter, but nobody knows about the will part.;)

He can beat everyone except for Federer.
Bad luck for him, Federer reaches always the finals.
Even if Federer sometimes fails, Roddick isn't really the favourite against a lot of players like Nadal. He was very lucky with his draw at the US Open.
He needs an easy draw and someone who beats Federer and all that outside of Roland Garros. Nearly impossible that it happens one more time.

Somehow, as much as I love Rafa, I think Roddick can handle Rafa on a fast surface. On clay, that is a different story.
