Gaudio trashes Ginepri 64 61Springy 11-03-2005, 08:36 PM well done gaston Fee 11-03-2005, 08:37 PM poop. Sjengster 11-03-2005, 08:38 PM Well Jerry, what do you have to say to that? (It's OK, I wasn't expecting this result either...) But as a fan of both Ljubo and Gaudio, I'm glad that the contest for the last spot will continue in earnest for a little longer. Woo-hoo Gaston, this was the perfect time to win back-to-back indoor matches for the first time in donkey's years! Frooty_Bazooty 11-03-2005, 08:38 PM WOW WOW WOW Gaston, great win, you played amazingly!!! TennisLurker 11-03-2005, 08:38 PM good first set, crappy second set, could have been a bagel ClaycourtaZzZz. 11-03-2005, 08:38 PM  Purple Rainbow 11-03-2005, 08:38 PM Did Gaudio win, or did Ginepri lose? Anybody saw the match can clarify this odd result? shotgun 11-03-2005, 08:39 PM  El gato :worship: Springy 11-03-2005, 08:39 PM Ginepri was totally out of gas..his first long season with many good results was in his legs. Gaston played solidly and with tons of winners Frooty_Bazooty 11-03-2005, 08:40 PM Gaudio very much won, extremely solid from the back of the court RickDaStick 11-03-2005, 08:40 PM Well this was a suprise, but Aslong as Ljubo beats Robredo it will be ok, then Gaudio has to beat Berdych and probably Stepanken indoors to overtake Ljubo and this is all if Ljubo loses to Roddick in semis, which he may not. DhammaTiger 11-03-2005, 08:40 PM Fabulous result for Gaston. Who said he can't play on hard and fast courts. I just wish to see the faces of the commentators eating humble pie. Fantastic win, at least Gaston is keeping Argentine flag flying at this tournament.Vamos GG and I hope you make the finals and win the Paris masters. JMG 11-03-2005, 08:40 PM Come on Gaston! :D Grinder 11-03-2005, 08:41 PM Did Gaudio win, or did Ginepri lose? Anybody saw the match can clarify this odd result? Ginepri pretty much tanked the second set, he would go for a winner, if Gaudio got it back he wouldn't even bother to run it down. He won one game just to avoid the bagel by the looks of it. BlackSilver 11-03-2005, 08:41 PM AHAHAHAHA :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: GOD !!! Could have been 6-3, 6-0 :retard: Retire Ginepri, just retire :) Sjengster 11-03-2005, 08:42 PM good first set, crappy second set, could have been a bagel You mean it was a crappy second set from Ginepri, or Gaudio could have played better and should have got the bagel? If it's the latter, then it's rather like the time you showed up after the 3, 2 and 2 demolition of Hewitt at RG and said how disappointed you were that he didn't hit more backhand winners, and that he normally plays much better than that. :p Denaon 11-03-2005, 08:43 PM :woohoo: Gaston!!! good job! lorenz 11-03-2005, 08:43 PM VAMOS GASTON!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shotgun 11-03-2005, 08:44 PM Too bad the dream will be over for Gaston tomorrow, since he will face the eventual winner of the tournament. Jimnik 11-03-2005, 08:44 PM  WOW Well done Gaston. :worship: That's arguably the biggest surprise of the tournament. Sjengster 11-03-2005, 08:45 PM Well this was a suprise, but Aslong as Ljubo beats Robredo it will be ok, then Gaudio has to beat Berdych and probably Stepanken indoors to overtake Ljubo and this is all if Ljubo loses to Roddick in semis, which he may not. But what I want to know is Jerry, if Robredo somehow beats Ljubo and gets closer to winning the tournament and qualifying... will you cheer for Andy against him in the semis? Not that you'd need to bother considering their head-to-head, of course. ;) *edit - it's confusing when you and Jerry have the same flag as well as support the same man.* :p RickDaStick 11-03-2005, 08:46 PM Too bad the dream will be over for Gaston tomorrow, since he will face the eventual winner of the tournament. The winner will be Ljucicic or Roddick, and Gaston does not face them tomorrow. TennisLurker 11-03-2005, 08:46 PM I mean that Ginepri tanked for most of the second set. Deboogle!. 11-03-2005, 08:46 PM  whoa. crouching 11-03-2005, 08:48 PM I thought I read somewhere on MTF that someone would eat his hat if Gaudio beat Ginepri?? Phunkadelicious 11-03-2005, 08:48 PM too bad for Ginepri, but I bet on Gaudio so :woohoo: Fee 11-03-2005, 08:48 PM So Robby was still feeling the effects of whatever illness he had in Lyon? Well, he can go home now, ranked firmly in the Top 20 and be very proud of what he has accomplished this season. shotgun 11-03-2005, 08:48 PM I thought I read somewhere on MTF that someone would eat his hat if Gaudio beat Ginepri?? What's so odd about it? do you mean to say Ginepri is a better player than Gaston? Even if Ginepri won their last two meetings, it doesn't mean that it's odd that Gaston would win today. This year alone he reached R16 in miami to lose to Agassi, and qf in montreal before losing again to agassi. shotgun 11-03-2005, 08:52 PM berdych? winner of the tournament?   nah....from the look at the draw, gaudio will get into the final! Anyway, speaking seriously, this side of the draw is pretty open. Gaudio is the dark horse between the four. idolwatcher1 11-03-2005, 08:52 PM I dont think so, Gaudio started out hitting him and playing better so Ginepri just gave up. Perhaps he wouldn't have given up so easily if he were feeling better...you don't know... Denaon 11-03-2005, 08:54 PM I could watch just a little but GG shots were amazing, huge effects :yeah: RogerRocks 11-03-2005, 08:54 PM Gaston :woohoo: Sjengster 11-03-2005, 08:57 PM No way Gaston is going to beat Berdych and Stepanek indoors. OK: if he beats the pair of them to reach the final, I will post a fawning tribute to Tommy Haas in GM and dedicate it to my posting hero and idol Jogy. I think this is the kind of promise I need to make if Gaudio's going to get through this draw... as far as I'm concerned, it's an acceptable sacrifice. ;) rofe 11-03-2005, 08:58 PM Good job Gaston. I support your candidacy over Ivan's because of your beautiful one-handed backhand and ill-timed trick shots! :) :p BlackSilver 11-03-2005, 08:58 PM Ahahahaha........ I STILL don't believe in this. This is certainly one of the worst performances of the year, together with Gaudio against Ferrer, Hrbaty against Safin, Safin against Ginepri and Pavel against Kuerten (These are the ones that I remember, I am sure that others happened) El Legenda 11-03-2005, 09:01 PM Good job Gaston. Yes, he still must be ill, though he was able to win his previous match, then again that was a triumph against over such difficult odds. Seriously, hahahahahaha what a funny match this was and Gaston's reaction at the end he seemed bemused. I was dazed and just caught the start, where Ginepri was leading 3-0 and thought here we go again, here comes thrashing number 3 from Bubba. Then something came over Ginepri and it was great to see, from a selfish point of view, he was playing like absolute rubbish and was handing out the presents like Santa Claus on LSD and ecstasy combined before the last night of Christmas. To Gaudio's credit, he was able to concentrate well enough and not make that many errors and came through, when it could have been easy for him to lose his way. Gaudio is going to have to improve on that performance in a big way, but hey the TMC alternate position, isn't such a bad thing. RogiFan88 11-04-2005, 01:05 AM OK!!! AND IF WE BELIEVE YOU, FEDERER OBVIOUSLY THOUGHT THAT ANOTHER FEW WEEKS' HOLIDAY TO ADD TO THE ONE POST-WIMBLEDON WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PLAYING HIS HOME EVENT!!! ...THAT HE HASN'T WON YET! :ras: Sjengster 11-04-2005, 01:07 AM It does make you realise, as you said in the other thread, that a couple of better performances against the Frog specifically could have got him into Shanghai by now, and I'm not sure he's going to get a third shot at qualifying for the TMC next year, much less actually making it in. But still, at the end of last year I have to admit I would never have predicted he'd come so close again in 2005. And it's remarkable to think that without a Grand Slam title, he's actually going to finish the year ranked one spot higher than he did last year. Not bad for someone who was supposed to turn back into a pumpkin after RG. Action Jackson 11-04-2005, 01:11 AM It does make you realise, as you said in the other thread, that a couple of better performances against the Frog specifically could have got him into Shanghai by now, and I'm not sure he's going to get a third shot at qualifying for the TMC next year, much less actually making it in. And it's remarkable to think that without a Grand Slam title, he's actually going to finish the year ranked one spot higher than he did last year. Not bad for someone who was supposed to turn back into a pumpkin after RG. Yes, that's why 2005 has been good and bad for Gaudio. He improved his records in finals and the only one he lost was to Nadal in a very good performance. Next year is the pumpkin year for him, but that doesn't concern me at all, he needed to do well in the 4 major events that were really open to him, but he has made QFs in Montreal and in Paris, not bad for an absolute gimp with no clue about playing tennis off anything but clay. Sjengster 11-04-2005, 01:17 AM It's strange to think that he's made three QFs in the Masters Series this year and only one of them was on clay. But yes, that single QF in Monte Carlo being his best result in the four big clay events is certainly an irritant. It makes people think that he's only ever earnt his points by winning optional clay titles, when a) he was nowhere near this consistent even in the small events before the RG victory, and b) he has actually gone deep in several clay TMSes and blown a couple of good opportunities to reach the final. Deboogle!. 11-04-2005, 01:22 AM ... he was playing like absolute rubbish and was handing out the presents like Santa Claus on LSD and ecstasy combined before the last night of Christmas.ohmygosh, this is the funniest thing i've read in a long time. yomike 11-04-2005, 01:27 AM Hallelujah Gaston:worship: At last Gaston plays well indoors but that scoreline is amazing. ____________________ Action Jackson 11-04-2005, 01:28 AM Well as I like to say the myth is always better than the reality. Even in the AO and RG, he blew chances for sure to go further though more so with the meltdown with Froggy. Yes, he could be like Kafelnikov as a Slam winner and not win a TMS, that's where and his compatriot differ, one won less titles, but did better in the major events through consistency, hence why he is ranked where is. http://www.overclock.net/images/smilies/buttkick.gif Robby, time to put on your Santa outfit.
