Federer fit to defend Masters Cup

Roger Federer will be fit to defend his Masters Cup title in Shanghai after recovering from an ankle injury.
The world number one had been a major doubt after missing the final three weeks of the regular season with a torn ankle ligament.

"A few weeks ago I was not sure how quickly my ankle would recover but now I am on the court and playing again," said Federer.

"I go to Shanghai with a fresh mind and look forward to defending the title."

Marat Safin confirmed on Wednesday that he will not play in Shanghai because of injury.

QUALIFIED FOR SHANGHAI
1. Roger Federer
2. Rafael Nadal
3. Andy Roddick
4. Lleyton Hewitt
- Marat Safin*
5. Andre Agassi
* Safin has withdrawn

The Russian stated on his website last week that a knee problem would rule him out and he has now informed the ATP.

Safin has agreed to travel to Shanghai for the tournament, which begins on 13 Novemeber, for promotional duties.

Rafael Nadal, Lleyton Hewitt and Andre Agassi all have injury worries, leaving Andy Roddick the only qualified player without any fitness concerns.

Agassi has been inactive since losing the US Open final to Federer, and a suspect back means it remains uncertain whether he will play.

Hewitt could miss the event either to attend the birth of his first child or because of an ongoing toe injury.

I see someone on http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com thinks Roger's injury was all a bunch of BS and he just wanted to rest up for TMC, and the crutches were just to sell the lie. To that I say :ras:

So many Fedhaters out there. I'm curious to see how many Nadalhaters will manifest themselves when HE is dominating the tour, beating EVERYONE for more than 1 year.

Can you imagine someone like Coria dominating and winning EVERYTHING for a couple of years? Will everyone worship HIM and see him as a God?? :p

Truly I don't know why such people aren't happy that Rafa IS challenging Rogi for tennis supremacy. After all, they have both won 11 titles each. Honestly, some people don't ask for much... spoiled or what!

 I am speechless..... I have no words... only bad words! This is SO unfair that ESP will not broadcast it! I haven't seen Roger since the US Open and that upsets me really.... Maybe it broadcasts the final?
Oh, last hope....

OMG i can imagine if coria dominated. :rolls: i think if coria dominated a lot of people on this board would stop watching tennis all together. poor guy i think a lot of people might actually hate him more than they hate roddick. :scared: i'd still watch guille :hearts:

So many Fedhaters out there. I'm curious to see how many Nadalhaters will manifest themselves when HE is dominating the tour, beating EVERYONE for more than 1 year. Well hopefully he won't be dominating for a few years. ;) But there will never be Nadalhaters at MTF because he is the king of clay and the dirt rules here.

Honestly, some people don't ask for much... spoiled or what! :rolleyes:Well being a Rogi fan of course I'd like him to remain #1 for as long as possible. I certainly have nothing against Rafa, but I do get annoyed with people who can't wait for him to dethrone Rogi. Especially people who bitch and moan about how boring it is with Rogi's dominance. But somehow Rafa's dominance is ok.
