James Blake defeats Olivier Rochus 6-4 6-3

Third time in a month that James has played Oliver Rochus, congrats on the win James and now the next big obstacle is Ivan Ljubicic. I think James can handle Ljubicic from the ground, the question is whether he can break the monstrous serve of Ljubicic. They've played twice before with Ljubicic winning both times in four sets, but James and Ivan have both improved since then so this will be a good match. I wish I could watch this. So now it's my favorite player against the Croation's favorite, should be interesting.

Blake seems to be able to compete in the big matches against big players. He doesn't always win but he makes it a very close contest, even against the Fed.

I fancy a 3rd set in this one.

A semi final match in the second round. Both players will be playing hard, and both have reasons for needing the win; Blake to boost his confidence and make his win over Rafa more than just a fluke or Rafa having a bad day.
Ljubicic is looking at Shanghai and you can make the argument that the way he's played this year he deserves to be there.

I hope to be home early to "watch" this on MTF.

Ljubicic doesnt have to win to reach shanghai...If it goes on like this Agassi, Federer, Hewitt, Nadal and Safin will retire so the entire top 20 has a change of going Shanghai -_-

I like them both. So I will be happy and disappointed at the same time no matter who wins I just wish this could have been a semifinal or at least a quarterfinal.

This isn't that intelligent, my course on 18th century history slightly precedes the War of Independence so I was just trying to crowbar something into the conversation. :p Imagine an America founded on footballing principles: "One nation, united under God... but it's a nation of two halves, know what I mean?"

But seriously, I think Gilbert Arenas will have have a monster numbers this year now that we've gotten rid of that selfish ball hog, Larry Hughes. I'm feeling a 30 ppg, 10 assist season for Gilbert this year. I seriously think the winner of the Eastern conference this year will take the title. You draw the conclusion that white Americans turn away from NBA because it's dominated by black people without any figures to support it and declare it's fact.

Air Force coach: Black players 'run very, very well'
Print this | E-mail this | Font size: 131415161718

Posted: October 25, 2005

Associated Press

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Air Force Academy is looking into comments made by longtime football coach Fisher DeBerry, who said black athletes "run very, very well" and that the program lacks minority athletes.
The 67-year-old DeBerry, in his 22nd year at Air Force, first mentioned the academy's lack of minority players compared to other schools on Monday.

"We were looking at things, like you don't see many minority athletes in our program," DeBerry was quoted as saying in The Gazette of Colorado Springs.

DeBerry elaborated on his comments during his weekly luncheon Tuesday.

"It just seems to be that way, that Afro-American kids can run very, very well. That doesn't mean that Caucasian kids and other descents can't run, but it's very obvious to me they run extremely well," DeBerry said in remarks broadcast Tuesday night by Denver television station KWGN.

Academy officials released a statement Tuesday, saying they were aware of the remarks.

"We cannot comment further until we have a chance to review all the reports, the coach's actual statements and to speak with the coach personally," academy spokesman Lt. Col Laurent Fox said.

DeBerry is the winningest coach in service academy history with a record of 161-94-1. He has had 17 winning seasons and won 12 bowl games.

This season, the Falcons are struggling. The team lost 48-10 to No. 20 TCU on Saturday, dropping to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the Mountain West Conference.
