After having been out of action for over a year due to a nagging back injury, John van Lottum made a succesful return into action last week. He reached the semifinals of the Seoul challenger and went from unranked to number 588 in the new ATP entry ranks! :)
This week Van Lottum plays in South Korea too, where he competes in the Busan event!

Good luck there John, and great to see that you are back in action! :)

 I thought he had retired!

Wow! Welcome back John!

He and Dennis Van Scheppingen are two of the friendliest players I have met...what is Dennis up to these days? :(

Dennis slid to the level where he has to qualify to enter challengers.
Anyway, he still likes the game well enough to continue. Van Scheppingen is playing the Aachen challenger this week.

While we are talking Dutch tennis players, Verkerk and Schalken haven't retired yet either, though both have been out with injuries for ages now. Schalken made an unsuccesful comeback in the grass season, while Verkerk has been out for well over a year and has lost all his ranking points in the process.

great, he deserves a lot of respect, he actually gets tough on drug cheats unlike most guillible players.

Actually, he openly accuses people before they've tested positive. Seeing as he has no way of knowing for certain whether or not they will test positive in the future - even if he "knows" they are cheats - I'm not sure that naming people is deserving of any respect whatsoever. I certainly don't respect him. That said, injuries suck, so good for him.

He started in Mons few weeks ago. ;) I don't know what to think about him. He got fired in his Bundesliga team in 2003 when he insulted his own home crowd and the little girl.

I know it's not cool, but I've got to give the guy credit, he was absolutely right in his accusations.

He also names names: "I have big questionmarks at Guillermo Canas. I played against him on hardcourt, and after a set he was totally tired. He always had small injuries and got fast cramp. Now he is the fittest player in the circuit after Lleyton Hewitt and he makes the 4oth place in the rankings. How is that possible? Mariano Puerta is another example. He's number 300 of theworld, is gone for a while. Comes back and makes it #30. His ranking gets worse, he's away for a while and gets to #30 again. His father is the guy who gave the drugs to Chela. Well, then one and one is two, right?"

Puerta's first ban was over asthma medication, which isn't quite what he's getting at there. Everything since is merely speculation until something official is announced.

That aside, yes, he was right. But as you said, that doesn't make it cool, which was my point :p

Hence my not having much respect for said JVL :p

Incorrect information as he already made a comeback in the Mons Challenger, losing in the final round of qualifying ;) I think he lost to Petzschner.
