Although I prefer one-handed backhands, Safin's two-hander is beautiful and fluid.

Ditto, my favorite, too. Agassi's is quite nice as well.

Yep. All great choices I mean just the sheer pace of Safins backhand makes it a lethal weapon. Nalbandians is so accurate and fluid as well. Agassi still makes the best angles with his two hander, well maybe Safin can make a good dispute.

Nalbo without question. Then Safin and Agassi.
He can do anything with that shot; attack, defend, spin, pace/power and find great angles with it.
P.S: my views maybe a little biased but mostly true...;)

not all bh shots, but his placement and passing with the bh dtl is the most reliable

I'm going with Mardy Fish or Robby Ginepri:shrug:

Yes Mardy Fish, he has a good BH, very flat, just like Ginepri.

Safin when he is on
On ... what, like once a on year usually. :tape:  It's a beauty to watch BUT.... Sigh. You all still remember his name, and what his bh looks like. Thanks people. :tears: :sobbing: I'm not even :bigcry:.

His passing shots are better with the bh dtl? Yes.
Not only dtl but also crosscourt.

His bh dtl is more reliable than Safin's one?
Yes, it is, and the crosscourt is probably more reliable too.

Is Hewitt the king of the backhand?
No.

Why?
Because Marat Safin can do things with his backhand that Lleyton Hewitt can only dream in to do with his own.

The same is true comparing Safin's one with Nalbandian' one, on a lower level though

Unfair to say "once on a year"

A couple times is more fair.

Well, he has to pay the price by having a high risk game AND being mentally unstable, which doesn't exactly help his high risk game :)

Nadals has improved a hell of a lot in the last year. Its not far off being on my list, and may well be soon.

I'd have to go along with Safin. Agassi and Bandy's are both class but not quite there.

Honourable mention to Andy Murray, it's a top shot.

I do enjoy watching Safin's two-handed jump backhand but Agassi's backhand is beeyootiful. (it was his 2-hander made it more popular and acceptable for other male players to use back in the days when a 2-hander was still considered "for girls.") :)

Safin has the best backhand. No other player on circuit hits it better.
Tojo, Andre and those others are all behind (Roddick and Fish names are not in top 10, with sure)

Safin's backhand:

:worship: :hearts:  :awww: :rocker2:

There is no shot in tennis that I enjoy watching more than his jumping 2-hander. I always thought double-handers were uglier than single-handers until I saw this guy strike the ball. There are many players with great backhands, currently on tour, but none deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Marat's.

Without a doubt, Andy Roddick, his fluent backhands compliments his killer forehand very well.

I would have said Hewitt's because when I played Top Spin, Hewitt's backhand had 5 stars, and he does that jumping bh in the game. But of course thats just a game.

I think its painfully obvious that nobody else has a backhand that comes close to Safins or Agassis, though both are totally different. Which is why I have to agree with MisterQ cuz I couldnt word it better myself. All hail MisterQ :worship:

Prefer single handed backhands, but from the two handers Marat Safin. As good as any two hander can be.

I don't know how Andy Roddick keeps seeping into this thread.

But anyways. . .

Marat Safin has probably one of the most violent looking backhands in tennis.
