Immensely enjoyable match. Had a hard time dealing with the overly partisan British commentators, though. Murray is really good, but it's not like he's God incarnated.

No. It was Gonzalez exuding brilliance.

Nah, Feña was just going for it all the time...
Not much faults of Andy:yeah:
But this man is just crazy, one day he misses every ball and loses badly and then he get's a lot in and he wins:shrug:

He served 14 aces

Fena played very good indeed, especially in the last set. Vamos Fernando!!!

That's Gonzo for you. If he's on, even Federer will have trouble.

The win came despite Gonzalez's first serve of 24/56 (43%). On the other hand he only lost 2 points on first serve in the whole match, so he really went for it :)

He was on against Federer this year but lost all of the matches, incl. Wimbledon and Roland Garros without looking like winning them.

If he's on, anyone but Federer will have trouble.

oh man, Andy looked so overpowered...especially in the 3rd...it was strange in the end, Gonzo serving too well and Andy maybe a bit out of steam. still, sometimes he goes over the board with these dropshots tho! But there were some great points....:hatoff:

Incredible, Feña served 4 aces over the 2nd serve if I remember correctly, amazing:yeah:

Andy still had that bad line call at 30-30 on Gonzo's serve in the 1st set, he then won the next point and even the crowd had thought he had broken but it wasn't to be. Well played Andy and looking forward to next year :)

Nicely done Gonzo, thought he would have won in straights though.

Tough loss for Andy, but he's still young and simply needs to learn and experience life on tour. I'm sure Gonzalez is the biggest hitter he's ever faced, so that can be very tough to deal with. Taking Gonzo to 3 sets is very tough if Gonzo actually plays well, which it seems like he did. Nice match.:)

I thought andy played a good match but i agree with alma, he was totally overpowered in the third. I couldn't believe the amount of aces nando was making! I don't think anyone could've handled them! Poor lad but it was a good learning curve :)

That was a staggeringly good performance from Gonzalez, I can barely remember him missing any big winner that he went for off either wing. There aren't many men who will serve a double fault and then slam 4 straight aces, including one on a second serve (which he also hit at the start of the final set). Murray showed remarkable fight even to grab a set, the two service games he came through early in the second were huge ordeals, but defensively it didn't look like he knows how to respond to the Gonzo power, he was well-beaten in the battle of the dropshots and just as I suspected, he paid for that low first serve percentage by eating the business end of numerous return winners, especially on the ad side.

Gonzalez must be playing at least as well if not better than he did when he made the final here three years ago and was handled comfortably by Nalbandian, but then the latter is also playing flawless tennis judging by his performances this week. If we get a rematch this year it'll be interesting to see whether the Nalby dominance in their head-to-heads continues.
