QF 25
R16 15
R32 7
R48 1

keep in mind that this is not an optional event so you earn these points after every round no matter what, so to still be in the race sunday you will have to have a minimum of 294 points, or 293 if davydenko doesnt play...also if you earn a bye but lose, you only get one point

It is also still possible for these guys to overtake Davydenko for the seventh spot too: Ferrer, Gonzalez, Johansson, Ancic, Hrbaty.

correct many others do have a mathematical shot but im just looking at htose few that are closer to him...even puerta is a long shot he needs atleast a paris final and davydenko to be eliminated before the round of 16 and pass the others as well...its almost impossible really

Oh yes, you're quite right. I'd say Gaudio is also quite a long shot, and realistically we're looking at Ljubicic, Nalbandian and possibly Gonzalez as the only players likely to make it (unless there are withdrawls).

Ivan can only qualify if he reaches the final of Paris and Davydenko loses in 2nd round or Ivan wins and Davydenko loses in 3rd round.

there is also the possibility that agassi, hewitt or safin will withdraw

ljubo only has to win the title if nikolai makes the semis, or nalby (assuming he wins this week) make the qf

Something tells me Nalbandian will win his 4th title this week and gain 28 points putting him into decent shape heading into Paris.

I hope so....and even better if he can pull it off without losing a set.

I'm going to assume that, if David makes the semis, and Davydenko loses before the quarters, that Davydenko's out. And Ivan still has to win the final to remove David and Davydenko from the race to Shanghai.

Let's not forget, there is a good chance of some players withdrawing.

sigmagirl91

There is that possibility. I'm going to assume that David and/or Ivan will get in outright without the benefit of withdrawals.

The fight in Paris will be between Nalby, Ljubo and Davy.

I dunno why, but if Nalbandian gets Basilea finals, he might lose early on Paris, 'couse he is very irregular. I don't he can make Madrid - Basilea - Paris semis/final

safin is out, now ljubo and nalby are fighting to keep their spots in paris

With Safin out, the fight changes. Now, Ivan is almost there and many other players have possibilities to go.
ToJo! It's your chance!

Agassi is now Confirmed In

Last 2 Places between
Davydenko and then a Close race for Last spot

and also alternate(If Agassi or Hewitt withdraw)
:yeah: with Nalby defeat, no one can reach him now

There's also a good chance that Hewitt won't play. Depends on wifey and baby.

Coria is almost in, not Davydenko.
I think Coria can lose his spot only if he loses early in Paris AND if Ljubicic/Nalbandian/Gaudio/Puerta beats Davydenko in the final of Bercy.

Question: has the baby been born yet?

Nope. The last thing I saw was a late november due date, but I don't think anyone outside their family really knows when the baby is due. Maybe Lleyton would fly to Shanghai with a plane on standby to fly home immediately if there's word from Bec, but I don't think he would want to take a chance on missing the birth of his baby. I could be wrong though. I don't actually know the guy. ;)

This is the last published thing I saw. It's from about October 27 -- so a little more up to date than the previous article.

Hewitt Wants to Play Shanghai But…

Two-time world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt will base any appearance at next month's Masters Cup upon the state of his health and the timetable for birth of his first child.

The Australian, who has not played since pulling out prior to a quarterfinal last month in Bangkok, will only make up his mind about traveling to Shanghai for the Nov. 13 start of the event at the last moment.

Hewitt's management said that if the child wife Bec Cartwright is expecting in late November comes early, then all bets are off.

In addition, manager Rob Aivatoglou, confirmed to Australian press that groin and toe injuries - the latter corrected recently with surgery - are still bothering Hewitt.

No, GS finalists don't go to the Masters Cup unless they are ranked in the top 8.

The order of qualifying is as follows:
1. Top 7 in the champions race
2. Grand slam winners not in the top 7 but inside the top 20, if there is more than one in this category than the top ranked player goes in and the 2nd is the 1st alternate
3. Player ranked 8 goes in if there's no player in the 2nd category, or else he's the 1st alternate (or 2nd if there are 2 GS champions in 2nd category). Players ranked 9 and lower are the next alternates in order of ranking.
