Kiefer just stomped all over Davydenko, Davdyenko's Shanghai spot is more attainable for the other players now.
Some of Davydenko's last couple of losses:
3-6 5-7 to Ginepri
6-3 4-6 4-6 to Bracciali
1-6 4-6 to Ljubicic
3-6 6-7 4-6 to Ljubicic
4-6 5-7 3-6 to Srichaphan
Will his reign in the top 10 be over after the the Aussie Open?

Ouch, ouch...that's an ugly scoreline. To someone who watched the match: Was Kiefer that good...or Davy just that bad (or tired)?

It was an ugly match if you're a Davydenko fan. Davydenko couldn't keep up in rallies with Kiefer and his backhand was terrible. After about four or five shots in a rally, Davydenko would end up hitting a short ball that Kiefer would easily put away. Kiefer was also serving well, therefore giving Davydenko no chance.

Can Kiefer capitalise and win a title again.
Good win Kiefer.

This is good news for David and Ljubicic (the only two players than have a realistic chance of going to Shanghai, in my view).

Davydenko didn't make it hard for Kiwi from what I could see on the online stream. I'm not sure how much I can read into this very clear scoreline, but it's certain to say that Davydenko isn't riding such a form high anymore like in the beginning/middle of the season and it was a bad match of him. Anyway I'm glad that Kiefer got to the semis, that makes up a little bit for the non-action during indoor season last year at that time and helps him gaining points for his ranking.

You must understand that Nikolay has played over 25 tournaments this year and has had a recouring wrist injury and some shoulder problems, anyone would be tired after that.

I don't dislike Davy or like him but it seems that his stay in the top 10 may be a short lived one.

Hmm Davy seems simply tired after this very successful year, but nevertheless a big surprise for me, who I regarded how Kiefers baseline game changes more and more for the worse, he's nearly unable to hit a forehand winner from the T! (you'll know what I mean if you watched the moscow final)
He should beat that Vik tomorrow (12 o'clock cet), but if he can manage to play a whole match totally concentrated and aggressive vs either T. Johansson or Verdasco is doubtful
This damn final loss streak must find an end!

Kiefer, another talented knucklehead. I dont know how such a good tennis player will lose 8 straight finals. He is another one now. Hopefully, he can win tomorrow against Tojo or at least not choke. Better not to have a lead at all, than to have it and lose miserably.
