Here's the main draw :

His first match can be against Mathieu or Sanguinetti. If Mathieu, it will be on the centre court (hope not, not easy to take pics). So, I hope Sanguinetti will face Fernando.

The top of the draw seems to be more difficult, for me, it could be worse !!
Thanks Amelie (who made the draw) :)

Buena Suerte Fernando, I'll be there (with the Chilean flag ) !!!

Exactly what I was thinking Gonzofan. This is a great chance for some other player other than Roger or Rafa to win a Masters for a change and why not Fena as he has been playing so well.

Good Luck in Paris Fernando!!! :hatoff:

Vamos Fernando, you can do it !!!! Sad that he doesn't play the doubles, with Olimpo, we wanted to see him play in the doubles, but he's not in the draw :( :(

Radicalgirl : I don't want a victory for Mathieu cause if he wins, the match will be on the central court, and I want Fernando to play on the court 1, we are closer, can see the game, and take beautiful pics :) :)
Sorry, I'll be selfish this week

:) Thank you, Val, for pointing out where Bercy is and where you live too! Well positioned in the middle, betw RG and Bercy!! Pas mal, ca!

So the weather is OK for Paris next week? The last time I was in Paris was quite a few years ago, in Sep-Oct and the weather was warm/cool/some sun/some rain [comme toujours].

I hope they let Fena play on Wed. since he must be tired fr winning so much in Basel! ;)

I shall keep my fingers crossed that Fena does fairly well [and better than Puerta, for example] so he can make Shanghai.

You never know, someone else may still w/draw [Lleyton... Andre? Rogi? hope not unless he's not fit enough -- don't want him to risk his health].

So...

2.They will broadcast Feña-Paulo for sure. :D
3.Feña surely wins against him. :aplot:

It would be so wonderful if Fernando could repeat his success of last week in Paris. Does anyone know how far he would have to advance to make Shanghi? I'm too lazy to try and figure it out myself lol!

And Val and Olimpo I hope you have a great time attending! Too bad Fena's not playing doubles though.

Rogi Fan : You are welcome :) Yes, the position is good. For once, I don't mind living in Paris, it's great, we have two important tennis tournaments, so I can't complain :)
Yesterday, the weather was very warm here, about +23°C, so it was a summer time :), nearby Bercy there's a park, so people were all outside and enjoyed the sun, others were at the hotel LOL LOL but today, the temperatures will fall, so a traditionnal Bercy weather, freezy, and some rain :(

Sparko : I met Olimpo yesterday. We won't be able to follow the singles together but we'll cheer him for him on both sides of the centre court !!! Hope it will be also his week here !! He can do it and as someone said, he's on the fire !!!!!!!!

Radical : I have to say that JCF has been nice yesterday cause there were many hysterical girls, I thought he was a rock star :lol

I hope that with Fernando, we'll be a few to ask for a picture !!! Sometimes the problem here is that people don't really follow tennis, only when a player wins, so it would be frustrating to not have my pic with him just because of some hysteros !!!

I've just came back from the stadium, and I saw Fernando at 7.30pm so, about more than 1 hour ago. With my friend, we have watched three matches today, we left the stadium for the night session (Mathieu/Sanguinetti). We saw the players warmed up and we left. My friend said : "we should go to the players entrance, just to see". I said : "yes, we'll see, but we'll have more chance to see Tommy (Haas) than Fernando, as he arrived today". So we went to the entrance really cool and without any expectations. The problem is that at the entrance, there were some hysterical girls who "jumped" on the players to have pictures, it wasn't very respectful. I wanted to :banghead: :banghead: them !! I said to my friend, that if he arrives, I won't be able to ask him for a picture with all those crazy girls, and it was night, so not easy to have a nice picture.
So, we've waited for several minutes, and suddenly, we saw Tommy (it's my friend's fave player), so she was happy as you can imagine :), he was running around the stadium just after his match.

And, at the same time, guess who arrived ? Fernando !!!!!!!! He was wearing a pair of jeans, a nice jacket and his black cap. He looked very very very very charming :inlove: :inlove: The problem is that the girls didn't notice him at the beginning, cause he didn't wear his "work" clothes  but it's a boy who noticed him and said "it's Gonzalez". And, about 5 girls jumped on him for a picture. My friend told me to come, I said no, cause I had the feeling that he was a bit annoyed by this kind of behaviour. He accepted the pics then he ran. I can't stand those kind of persons who jump on the players, it's like they have never seen a man. No one said "congratulations for Basel". They are not fans, it's just because they wanted a pic with a player. This kind of behaviour drives me crazy !!! I have never behaved like those persons, and i'll never behave like that, cause I'm not a teenager anymore, and I respect the player and the man.

A least, I saw him 30 seconds and I know, now, that he arrived :) So, tomorrow morning, we'll go to his hotel and try to take the pic and try to have a short talk with him. I'll tell him about this forum.

He was with his physical trainer and one of his friend. I think he was going to watch the match Mathieu/Sanguinetti. I also think that he didn't came with a car from his hotel but by foot. Still simple our Fernando :)

Well, I keep that 30 seconds in my memory cause I didn't expect to see him today. Even my friend thought he was very charming with his off court clothes :)

Yes Val,"unfortunately" Paulo won the tough match. :aparty::o I just think he seemed to play for France not for himself. The crowd cheered for him crazily,he was damn nervous but not gave up this time, :woohoo: Feña will have pressure in the next match, but I think he serves more aces and makes Paulo run more,he will beat him and the crowd for sure. :aplot: Maybe I'll see your flag and you too. ;)

Thanks, Val, for your report. Yes, pls wave you Chilean flag -- I watched Paulo's match today and the crowd is quite rowdy, like a footie crowd, which I don't like for tennis. I don't mind enthusiasm but this is a little too noisy for the players, esp Paulo! They were not too respectful of Sanguinetti.

Anyway, those girls who "jump on" players and get photos probably just sell them on E-Bay... whatever... they barely know who the guys are [sometimes they ask you "is he a tennis player?" -- duh!? I either don't answer them or I give FALSE info... ha ha ha!]!

I saw part of the match on tv. You know very well Paulo, because he said something similar, that the French crowd helped him a lot, and without their help, he wouldn't have won :) He's very enthousiastic playing Fernando, and think that it will be a great match on the center court, so the match will be on tv on wednesday :)

With his good shape, Fernando is supposed to win, but the French players are very motivated in front of that crowd, so we never know. I think we won't be many with the Chilean flag but we'll do it. i don't know if they'll show us, cause we don't have tickets in the first rows.

With my friend, we have nothing against Paulo, but Fernando is the number 1 in that match !!! The atmosphere will be warm and great, that's for sure.

About the crowd, it's limit direspectul, but it's the crowd of that tournament. And, this week is a week of holidays, so a warm atmosphere. I can't imagine the atmosphere on wednesday for Fernando's match !! Maybe, they'll decide to put the match in the evening. Today, the crowd didn't respect Lopez, I was ashamed to be French !!

Interesting thing, after the matches, they sent to the audience Adidas T-shirt lol, they sell Fernando's shirt (50 euros). Today, my friend told me :"at least we saw his t-shirt, then, we'll see the man inside lol" and we saw THE MAN a few minutes later outside :)

Regarding the girls outside, was terrible and when they took the pictures, they put the camera close to the players and with the flash, you can imagine how were the eyes of the players. Grosjean was carrying his racquets, and they stopped him to have a pic, he was a bit busy. It's like Massu, he was very sad and in a bad mood, people were disturbing him, and then, they are surprised when he refuses to sign or take a pic. They are stupid.

But when he plays against his countryman in everywhere even in France,95% he surely loses the match. :help:
If Feña plays damn well all the time, they guys yell but can't help anything. :nerner: Even though the crowd helped Paulo to win today,I saw he gestured to calm people down too.I think the crowd can "damage" his mind as well.
I consider that Feña needs point so much and he is a stable player, :rocker2: so I will cheer for him more.Enjoy the match. ;)

I've seen the players get jumped on too.

It must be so weird for them. And I've seen Fernando get annoyed with it when he was here this summer. His patience a few times was worn very thin by the entire chaos.

I didn't hear about the crowd with Feli - how can anyone be mean to Feli? I'm going to watch it on the re-play tonight so I'll see it.

Fans...after this summer, and after all these hate posts on MTF - they give me a headache. I can only imagine how the players feel having to deal with it day in and day out, month in and month out for 10 months out of the year.

Thanks for your Report VAL! . You are Great too. . [B]Continue please!!
Maybe the jacket that he dressed was the jacket he bought in Madrid, and the friend is "El Principe" who gives him luck. Fernando has a Friend Club "El Club de Tobby". You see, my english is bad. Someone translate this article?

Thank you everyone
Back from Bercy and ...................I got my picture with Fernando, YESSSSSSSSSSSS !!!

And, I'm so happy
As I said yesterday, this morning, with my friend, we went to the players hotel, we weren't the first ones to arrive, they were the same persons as yesterday evening, so I was very anxious. So, we decided to stay apart from them, because we didn't want to be compared to them. But, when they saw us in that part, they decided to come closer :smash: I think we've waiting for 30 minutes, I recognised Fernando in the hall of the hotel, so I said to my friend to take my camera and I started to go slowly to the entrance, because I wanted to be the first one. As I'm very shy, I think it was a real achievement, cause I've waiting for 14 years to have my pic for Thomas Enqvist, so I didn't want to wait until his 30 to get mine with Gonzo. So, when he came out with his physical trainer (Horacio doesn't seem to be in Paris), I spoke to him in spanish to attract his attention cause I fell the girls behind me and ready to jump on him

So, he stopped, and I said : "es posible...", I think he saw that I was a bit nervous, so he looked my friend and said "si", I fell a moment of loneliness   then, I gave him an envelope with three pics I took in Kitzbuehl this year (were enlargements) + a letter I wrote in spanish to explain him about the website, the forum, to wish him good luck etc.. . So, he was very surprised and said "thank you very much" with his great smile, his eyes were shining. I enjoyed that moment a lot, I didn't pay attention of what happened around I have to admit. Then, I congratulated him for his fantastic week in Basel and wished him good luck for Paris. He said "thank you" and left. I was the only one who got the pic   cause then, he entered in his car. So, when you don't jump on the players, you can have those special moments :)
An unforgettable moment :)

I know another Fernando fan who was waiting outside today, she sent me a sms, she saw him very fast, cause he had to run. So, I think I had the best tactical.

Next time, I'll try to be less shy cause he's a very nice guy. I hope he didn't think I was stupid, when I was unable to speak at the beginning. At least, he saw that he got a real fan in the area.

Thanks Gonzofan  You know when they go to practrice, they don't have really the time to talk with you a lot. I think I've been lucky cause the other persons after me, had nothing ! And, I said all I wanted to say (congratulate him for Basel, wishing good luck for Paris), the rest is in the letter, hope he'll read it. I think if they werent all the persons around, he could have talked more, cause I was the only one with my friend to stay quiet (outside, cause inside I was nervous). I'm glad that it wasn't a mission impossible  Next time will be better !!

:bigcry: So sad for Fena...wins it all last week and now to lose such a close match...so close to his goals for the year. On one hand he should be happy but of course all he will think of now is that he lost a close one when he was in inches of top 10 and Shanghai....I wasn't able to see the match but I'm going to assume that being worn out from last week may have something to do with it. And PHM was playing for a home crowd.

LOVE YA FENA!!!! :inlove: Your're a great player and a great person!!! :worship: 2005 was a great year for you and here's to an even better 2006!!! :rocker:

about the match : Gonzo made some mistakes a lot of DF  and he also was tired and PHM took advantage of that  the match was good I think it's one of the best matches that I'v seen in Paris this week really exciting but unfortunaly Gonzo lost :crying2:
now he has to say bye bye to Shangai also ...
Obviously we are all very sad about this loss but on the other hand ...

WE SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF TEDDY BEAR !!!!!! :worship: :bigclap:

he had an excelent year! winning three titles in three different surfaces it's awesome! and also an exhibition on grass! :rocker2: he won two doubles titles! reached QF at Wimbly and only lost to Federer and this end of season was great! and he has been playing great tennis all year esp the last months ;)

now come back to Chile Gonzo and take some rest! have a great off season and we will be wating for you to see you again next year!!!!! wishing you the best for 2006!!!!!

GonzoFan, you said it well!! ;)

Now Fena can go home and rest up and be w his family and friends and be proud of what he's accomplished this year.

I maintain that if he hadn't had the bad draw [Wimby, for example or MCarlo] of meeting Rogi, he could certainly have gone further. But his year is over now and I'm satisfied w his efforts -- they did pay off.

Felicitaciones, Osito, por un buen 2005!!

Hello everyone

I'm back from Bercy, very sad for Fernando :( Fernando didn't play very well tonight, as Gonzofan said, a lot of DF, surprising because he started the match very well on his serve. Then, he took some risks and made balls outside the court. When PHM won the 1st set, with my friend we were without any reaction, hopefully he had a good reaction in the second round, he was unplayable. The third set was really scaring and unfortunately, Fernando lost. When he left the court, he was so disappointed :(

We saw Fernando this morning at his hotel, this time, we sat on a bench and we only have a look and the car stopped in front of us, so we saw him. He accepted one or two pics with people and put the bag in the car, Horacio only was with him. The others persons of his circle came a little bit later.
Well, was nice to see him again :)

Alexito 36 : We stayed to watch Nalbandian, as my friend is a fan of Haas, Haas won :) Nalbandian didn't play well, and seemed also to be tired, as Fernando.

It's a bit frustrating that Nalbandian, he missed a bit opportunity for Shanghai. Well, he's still young and he'll go to China next year, I'm sure. He's so talented but sometimes, as said Felipe, he can be irregular.

I'm sad cause each time, I saw Fernando play in Paris, each time he lost :(

It's the end of the season, and unfortunately, I think that Fernando was tired. As you all said, he wins titles on different surfaces, he can enter in the top 10 next year, he often lost against top players. He doesn't have to be ashamed at all.

Now, I wish him to have a good rest in Chile (or in another place) and we look forward to see him next year !!! Hope he'll offer us some good tennis as this year.

Thanks to everyone who congratulates me for the pic  Was nice to share this experience with you :yeah: Tomorrow, I'll be back to work, and I'll be motivated cause I'll have good memories in my mind :)

I'll post some pics tomorrow, cause now, it's more than midnight, I have to eat lol and go to sleep cause tomorrow, back to work.

As Gonzofan said : "we are proud of you" :yeah:

See you next year !!!

I am sad and depressed that Gonzo lost, but let us look at the positive side. He played awesome tennis this year, didn't have major injuries and the last week was just great for him. I read an interview with Horacio and this is some of the things that he said after Gonzo's loss

Horacio de la Peña regrets that Gonzo was not able to go to the Masters: "Fernando wasn't tired, he only felt a damn pain in the zone of the "peroné" (I don't know the english word for peroné :smash: ) , that he hurt the other day when he twisted his foot. He had some fibers broken in the zone and with analgesics he tried to forget about the pain only for the desire of playing in Shangai. But he couldn't hit as he is accustomed", lamented Horacio, that made a global balance. "Fer closed the year very strong physically. That marks a progress comparing to the other years. I believe that he realized the great player that he is"

The peroné, is around the knee, isn't it ?? :(
I hope it's not serious.

This morning, I bought the French newspaper "L'équipe", there's an article about the match, I'll translate it this evening, when I'll be back at home. There's a big photo of PHM (for Radical, if you want it, I can scan it for U and send it by email).

RogiFan : The Xmas card would be a good idea, and someone from Chile could deliver him. And, we can send the card to each person who would like to participate. I'm sure he'll be happy :) Just give your suggestions !!! We have only 1.5 month !!!

Perone is fibula in English, one of the two bones running from the knee to the ankle. Fibula is the outer bone( the tibia is the other, inner and larger one.) It sounds like he hurt his ligaments in that area. Poor Fena, I hope it heals soon and completely before the start of the new season. Such a brave man to play three sets with pain. I wish him to be free of pain as soon as possible.
