Not much news yet, except that they are all in Malaga training at the moment, and the draw will be on thursday I believe. But there's a picture though, JC and Mariano, friendly before the battle :)

Too bad it's all in vain since the finals will likely be on grass :p I know I know.... I'm being negative ;) But the finals will hardly be worth watching unless Hewitt is in pathetic form for some reason.

Well, since Spain lost the double, now is 2-1 and JC will have to beat his opponent tomorrow to clinch the tie. Vamos Juanqui.

Here's him in the first match:

How are the Australians on grass??

As good as it gets.
Hewitt was last year's Wimby champ, Mark P is this year's finalist, Woodbridge probably won a few himself and Arthurs' best surface. Wimbledon is Aussie's holy grail and the grass is always greener in Australia comes Davis Cup final time ;) (summer). Get the picture?

trixy

but last time australia played on grass against france in '01 they lost ;) :)

anyway im just having a total predicament on who 2 root 4 my australia side says australia all the way!! but could i actually go against JC  !!! the indecision....

one thing about the grass they use at melbourne park tho they actually have 2 like grow it and and stuff there because normally its just rebound ace so its a bit weird...they say its really good but some articles and stuff say it isnt so i dunno.

i so hope i get 2 go tho!! i know every1 says its gonna be australia in a whitewash cause what would u expect on grass but it is the DC finals and i dont think spain is gonna do out without a fight!!

Hopefully Spain can upset the Aussies coz it would be soo good if they did to show that they arent just clay-courters...i dont mind if Spain lose as long as thay play well, just to prove to others they can play well on grass. Vamos Espagne!

Lynne
11-16-2003, 06:36 AM
I agree with plum_juice10! If Spain wins on grass, it would definitely be nice so that people won't label them as "clay-courters". However, I hope Moya and JC's losses at Houston won't affect them! Best of Luck, Spain!!

Me, Liz and Prazz went to see the Spanish train at Kooyong today and got photos with F-Lo, JCF and Moya... Got autographs from them as well as Corretja and spoke to JC's dad who was standing with us with the whole 3 hours lol. It was the most amazing day, before Liz had arrived i gave my phone to Carlos to speak to her and even tho she didn't think it was all that exciting i thought it was unbelievable that he was actually talking on my phone!!!!!! I've seen JC play in real life before but that was on Vodaphone during AO and coudln't get THIS close to him and he is A BILLION times more beautiful in real lifeeee!!!!!!!! As unbelievable as that may seem lol.

neway training wise, Carlos trained really really hard, but the other three were doing pretty well as well.

Liz has uploaded her pics in the DAVIS CUP forum so check them out.

Everyone here probably doesnt care but we're fammmoooousssssss:

Moya Charms Australian Fan

Spanish tennis star CARLOS MOYA, 27, gave one young Aussie fan an early Christmas present. Liz was meeting her friend, Esther, to watch the Spanish Davis Cup team practicing at Kooyong earlier this week. While Liz was on the train, Moya appeared at the practice. Esther asked Moya to say hello to Liz on her cell phone. He obliged:

Moya: Hello, Liz!!
Liz: Hi!
Moya: How are you?
Liz: I'm, good thanks. How are you?
Moya: Oh, I am great. Where abouts are you from?
Liz: Melbourne.
Moya: Oh, Melbourne, so you are Australian? You will be supporting the Australians?
Liz: Oh, no, I'm going for you guys!
Moya: *laughs* That is good to hear. And you will be coming to see us sometime?
Liz: Umm, I'm on my way to see you practice now.
Moya: Oh, great! And do you like tennis?
Liz: Yeah, I love it.
Moya: *laughs* That is good to hear, too.
Liz: Yeah, I am coming to see you at the final.
Moya: That's great! Well, I must go now, Liz, nice talking to you.
Liz: That's cool, you too, thank you!
Moya: Take care now. Goodbye!

That was enough to make Liz's day, but she also got there in time to see Moya practicing with JUAN-CARLOS FERRERO, FELICIANO LOPEZ and ALEX CORRETJA. After the practice, a huge crowd formed around the players, but she pushed ahead and asked Moya for a photograph. He said, "Yes, sure, just be quick." She said, "I'm the girl you spoke to on the phone," which caused him to smile and to take his time. Liz expressed her thanks, and Moya waved. "It was my pleasure," he said. She was so flustered, she forgot to ask for his autograph. Maybe next time!

Ferrero said after winning Madrid that if he won the year-end #1 ranking and the Davis Cup trophy, he wouldn't care much about Australia. Well, he didn't get either. Not only did he suck the last month of the year, he didn't win a single match in 6 tries. Will this lack of success at least keep him motivated for 2004 (Oz in particular)?

Ugh, thank god it's the off-season.

 I really thought Juanqui could make it.... The fifth set just didn't go Juanqui's way. He looked as if he were about to cry in the fifth set.......Anyway, I hope he'll do better next year.... The good thing is that JUanqui has improved on grass, taking all his singles matches in DC to five sets ... Look forward to seeing him in Wimbledon next year!!

prazz_m
11-30-2003, 08:23 AM
another tattoo?> that's the one he's always had...well he's had for a while at least anyway isn't it...

it's funnhy coz as soon as that match finished i was upset but now i don't care as much...i just really really really really really really hope it doens't affect his mentality for 2004 as it did for paulo this year from last year's ... liz don't kill me....i'm not saying paulo's bad....

it was a really weird match though...really weird...like mark totally lost it in the third set...then sort of came back in the fourth...then there was this extended break between the fourth and fifth set in which mark went to the toilet, ferrero got his thigh massaged....and mark then got his shoulder massaged....

mark looked to be paining a lot when serving yet he still won the last set 6-0...gutsy

but i'm so proud of jc taking it to five...he could have given up but he didn't...good on you boy

At least JC confirms coming to Oz next year... not only he didn't get no.1, he lost davis cup too. but JC did his best and i think he got a little too tired towards the end of the year. Anyone else notice Patricia in the crowd??? She was cheering him on --> so cute!

  Awwwwww too bad Ferrero still lost that match after his amazing come-back in thew 3rd and 4th set! But Philippoussis was the better player today, that the *sad* truth... Oh well, better luck next year (they'll start again already in February so we won't have to wait THAT long *but it's still a long long time for me and all of you fans probably..* Oh what the heck: Ferrero you're still No 1 :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

Congrats to the Aussies :) Greetzzz x

*** :D personally I thought that wrong anthem -shame on the Davis Cup organization in Aus'lia- jinxed the whole thing :D ***

Oh & by the way I think that pic with JC and the 'new tattoo' is not real. What I mean is: I think it's something on the pic instead of on JC himself (the tattoo he already had is still a bit lower -mm yummy -, and not in the middle like on the pic..) but that's me talking, could be wrong... Which reminds me: WHAT is the thattoo he already has? I've never seen it close enough to see what is 'drawn' don there..? So if anyone has a good pic of it, please post a link or send it to me @ joost_vk@hotmail.com ... Thanks !)

Man, I cant believe JC lost!!! Its a real shame how that all his matches which he comes really close to winning, he just loses, sometimes really badly. Well done for trying though and I hope that this end of season (since the US Open) hasnt effected his mental state for 2004, he just has to think that even though he lost he still has lots of support from his fans across the globe and all his friends and family, which I'm sure he does realise, but Im just sayin.

Cant believe that Philipousiss came back wiv his chest injury! Im sure that if JC had won that match Carlos Moya could hav beaten Hewitt just like that. Its a real big shame, but lets look forward to 2004 and hope JC can go all the way- win loads of tournaments and grand slams, be the year-end no. 1 and win the davis cup!

Good Luck and dont forget we all support you!!

I respect them a lot especially Marky :yeah: but I was so sad when I saw that Juanqui lost.... :sobbing: Since the US Open his season was crap. Except 4 Madrid, but that wasn't enough to stop Dick 2 end the year as no1.

Hmmmmm I just saw a wrapped up version of the Ferrero - Philippoussis match...

Now, I thought Ferrero was SO sexy in this one (of course he always has been.. or maybe except this time when he had dyed his hair white *read: "yellow" LOL not one of his finest hours*, I don't know why.. Or maybe I do! Normally JC doesn't show much emotion on-court, but this time he was a bit frustrated towards the end of the 2nd - and who would blame him? I noticed that the line judges and umpire weren't always fair. OK, JC woould have lost it even withouth those calls, but I still thought it wasn't fair towards him. Anywayz, he sorta roared, like a bear or something LOL and I thought this was such a turn-on! There's only 2 other times when I thought "WOW that guy's HOT" and almost passed out: 1) Roland Garros, when there was a mis-hit by JC and he used his rocket as a gun to "shoot" the ball out of the sky (there are still some great pics of this one on the RG website) and 2) during Wimbledon, in his match vs Escude.. he hit the ball, which ended in the net, and he made this VERY loud scream.. which I thought was very... rrrrrrrrrr ;)

damn... it doesn't sound like I'm totally infatuated, does it? *hehe*

Hahahaha oh SORRY guys, I probably bored the hell out of you all.. but this is probably just my way of coping with the disappointment of Ferrero's (and Spain's) loss today... So forgive me for this one!

Let's hope next year he'll kick ass like he did in Paris and New York this year.
