Toni Nadal, because he's done such an amazing job with Rafa. Also I like the fact that he applauds shots by Rafa's opponents.

Least favourite - Dean Goldfine, for destroying Andy's character, game and confidence :(

Toni Nadal opened a tennis academy in Manacor and he was very lucky when his nephew entered by the entrance when Rafa was just a boy . Rafa is an innate talent, and he had reached to world tennis top with this or with another coach .

If Rafa didn't exist, his uncle would be surely an unknown person who has a tennis academy .

My fave coach is Francis Roig :tape:

Peter is very nice, once, Marat was practricing with Thomas Enqvist (my fave player) in Roland-Garros, and we had a swedish flag with support words to Thomas, Peter read the message and asked Marat to go to the other side of the court, just to let Thomas on our side :) We appreciated a lot. Hopefully, he's Swedish, he understood the message :) Tack Peter, you made some girls happy that day :yeah:

Fair points, but since the start of the year have you noticed the improvements in his game. His serve is a lot better (although still needs work) but the improvement in his backhand is unreal. Its 3 times as good as it was at the end of last year.

Fair points, but since the start of the year have you noticed the improvements in his game. His serve is a lot better (although still needs work) but the improvement in his backhand is unreal. Its 3 times as good as it was at the end of last year.

Besides he should hit more flat and with less topspsin when he's playing out of clay , because a lot of times he's dominating the point ( moving the rival ) and as he hits shots with too much topspin the opponent has enough time to catch them and the point begins from zero again , that is he should shorten his points because he plays a lot of rallies and it's a playstyle quite tired.
. He should improve his aggressiveness ( he's one of the players inside of top 50 who plays more short , he would need to hit more deep shots ), he should improve his winner shots ( more flat = more winners ) because when his opponent is able to manage his topspin he has few weapons, as for example the two first sets against Ljubo , he should improve his volley ( although he will never be a good volley-maker , he hasn't quite touch , and he will never be a good drop-shot-maker either ) , he also should begin the matches less nervous etc etc...

About his backhand i think there isn't a great margin of improvement, i mean, his backhand winners during a match will nerver be too many, but he can improve the depth of his backhands , obviously he has to improve his slice backhand, which is very limited so far..

And about his serve, in the Aus Open 05 he was hitting the serve with 10 kph more of speed than in Aus open 2004, and it's obvious he has improved a lot his shot, but he still needs a lot of improvement , because he has a lot of ups and downs ( in Madrid his serve was quite weak ) , he has to learn to vary more the serve during a match because it's usually predictable .

Gaby Markus because he had to deal with a lot of difficult players, and he's lived to tell the story...lol! Guille, David, Nico. I'm surprised that he hasn't turned gray dealing with all of them. ;)

And Nico now twice, and as much as I like Nico, I know that he's extremely difficult for a coach to deal with. So I have to give huge kudos to Gaby for going back with him.

I grew quite fond of Javier Piles (David Ferrer's coach) this summer at Cincy.

I thought I liked Moya's coach Jofre until I caught him smoking :eek:.

Kelly Jones :hug: Cincinnatian like me and he's put up with both Mardy and Xavier.

My favourite coach, without any doubt, is Fredrik Rosengren, right now coach of Mariano Ancic.

But other big faves are Franco Davin, Magnus Tideman and Horacio :)

On topic, I like the fact that Toni Nadal helps to keep Rafael's feet firmly on the ground and he applauds good points of Rafa's opponents as well.

I wasn't talking in terms of using slice ,topspin or flat serve, i meant in terms of the placement , and according to my opinion sometimes he abuses too much of the serves searching the bachkand of the opponent (a right-handed opponent ), a good example would be his match against Youzhny in Aus Open , i think he should vary more the placement.
And if i don't remember badly Rafa and his coach consider his serve as one of the 3 worst inside of top 50 ?? ;)

I am not too much into all the who-is-whose coach however I try to follow it, but as I had the possibility of getting to know some coaches in person, my favourite one is Daniel Orsanić, Chucho's coach. In 2004 in Sopot he asked me where I bought my Argentina T-shirt b'cause he wanted to have the same. After a year he must have remembered it because he said "hi" to me. It was sweet ;) He's a person with crazy ideas of motivating players, eg. "If you win a match, I'll wear a bra and come like this to Wimbledon stands" (he really did).

The next person is Pavel Strauss, a Pole working in Norway (I think) at this moment. I met him in Wroclaw 2005 and we talked for long, long hours watching the matches. Interesting person.

Team of Gael Monfils - they all together create a weird mixture with great sense of humour and they are practise sessions were just hilarious.

Team of Agustin Calleri - the way they were asking for toys for their children... so sensitive...

Marcos Gorriz, Alberto Martin's coach. Very sociable and likeable. Everybody in Szczecin liked him for his outgoing personality and smile for everyone.

I don't really have a favourite since I don't know the guys, but I love the coach of Gaudio for his poker face everytime Gaudio is having a little mental breakdown on court and starts lamenting and talking to him right in the middle of the match. It's priceless .

Gaston is so funny out there...he always makes me laugh. I don't know how his coach can keep a straight face, but then again, it probably isn't so funny when you're coaching him... :eek: He's got so much talent, and let's himself get distracted out there.

But that could be said for many many players.

Safin is funny about it too....he's another one that makes me laugh when he goes headcase on the court. Got to love it.
