I've heard that Dinara Safina said that Safin may have to miss the Masters Cup.

In that case, Ljubicic would replace him. Agassi also looks questionable, so then Gaudio would be in. I assume it would be something like this:

Group A Group B
Federer Nadal
Roddick Hewitt
Agassi/Ljubicic Coria
Davydenko Safin/Gaudio

only thing thats certain is that

players divided up in 2 pots and one of each is drawn into one gp
#1 and #2
#3 and #4
#5 and #6
#7 and #8

It might be that Safin, Agassi and Federer don't play. Maybe Hewitt as well. That would make it the weakest Masters/World Championship/TMC in recent memory.

It's random, though. 1 and 3 and 2 and 4 might not be in the same groups - it could be opposite, etc.

we could have the 1st Nadal vs Safin match in Shanghai... should be interesting :p (if they are both fit of course :( )

Line-up looks like this:

OUT Federer
1 Nadal
2 Roddick
OUT Hewitt
OUT Agassi
3 Coria
4 Davydenko
OUT Safin
5 Ljubicic
6 Gaudio
7 Puerta
8 Nalbandian
Sub Ginepri or Ferrer :scared: Yikes! Can't believe one of those two might make it.

Well if Roger, Marat and Lleyton don't play it will indeed be boring.

i hope nalbandian and ljubicic will be able to qualify instead davydenko and coria coz they would have a better performance :smoke: .

well if roger will not play, then one thing would be certain: somebody else could win the masters cup..for a change.
but anyway, i dont think roger or lleyton will not play... :)

Definately no Marat so:

1 Federer
2 Nadal
3 Roddick
4 Hewitt
5 Agassi
6 Coria
7 Davydenko
8 Ljubicic

But with Nalbandian on course to win Basel, he might overtake Ljubicic. Gonzalez is also on course to improve this week.

Ljubicic 346pts
Gaudio 345
Puerta 339
Nalbandian 322 + at least 21pts
Ferrer 299
Gonzalez 295 + at least 14pts

The battle to replace Marat is very close.

Gonzalez in the masters cup would be awesome, doesn't Ginepri have a chance with a very strong showing in Paris?

but then even if federer decide to play, he will not be 100%, so he may not win the title... i dont think he is going to play if he cant be sure he can win, to keep his winning streak going....

so bascially, not many of the players are fit even they decided to play...

i would rather to see players, like nalbandian or ljubicic or gonzalez :lick: who are fit to fight for the cup rather than injured players who are unwilling to play there wasting the places...

Nalbandian lost. And ToJo has chances to get this 8th spot.

It is random...there are normally 3 odds and 1 even and vice versa, per group.

For instance, Henman was #7 last year but in group with even numbers.

Coria may have already solidified his position with David's loss today.
