Roddick Pulls Out of Madrid

According to andyroddick.com, Andy has pulled out of the doubles comp due to the flu...hmmm

Deboogle!.

James Blake's site said the same thing a few hours before, and that site gets its info directly from James.

why the "hmmmm" ?

Silly, he could do with some more match practise. And he would be better off hitting a few volleys. Clearly nothing he's doing in training is working

Clearly nothing he's doing in training is working :shrug:Of course he needs the matches - it's why he played doubles there in the first place, except that they scheduled his doubles after his singles, which is not what he was hoping for obviously. According to Blake's site, he couldn't keep any food down. You cannot play if you haven't eaten properly, it's not worth the risk. He can't help getting sick, that's no one's fault lol

Fair enough. He still needs to ditch Goldfine and hire me though ;)

Fair enough. He still needs to ditch Goldfine and hire me though ;)That's a different story entirely, visit his forum for a less hateful discussion of that than what will surely transpire in GM :p Of course, Dean can't be blamed for him getting sick :p

The knee(s) are a popular excuse these days, it has that air of validity since Safin is sidelined for real with that injury.

I personally love reading the reason "stomach" on draw sheets as the reason for withdraw

But he will be all better for Lyon as they are surely giving him a huge appearance fee for committing to the event months ago.

got to love when they just say 'knee" and not even what part of the knee-

Deboogle!.

I personally love reading the reason "stomach" on draw sheets as the reason for withdraw :rolleyes:lol, the ATP site this morning said "sickness" - but then James's site posted what I already described, so yea, it doesn't sound like a made-up excuse, unless Andy is so devious that he would have James email HIS site to post false information (which, I do not think Andy is so clever:p)
But he will be all better for Lyon as they are surely giving him a huge appearance fee for committing to the event months ago.He can also get a Wednesday start which gives him basically 5 days to get better, which should be long enough to recover from anything short of like a full-blown flu.

He may not be playing well right now, but he's not a total idiot - he knows he needs more matches in.

I don't know the story just seems...convienant that's all. If he really is sick then I hope he gets better and can return to play soon! Being an Andy fan has just been really frustrating this year

Being an Andy fan has just been really frustrating this yearI understand, believe me I do, but you'll quickly learn that starting a thread here in GM maybe wasn't the best place for that ;) There's plenty of venting going on in the Andy forum :)

:tape: ohmigod, has it hit Spain? I know about Romania and Russia.

Last time I had the flu it only lasted about a day but I still felt pretty tired/weak for about 2 or 3 after that.

Convenient for who? It's not Andy's way to fake an illness and pull out of a match that would also affect his doubles partner and good friend Blake.

Jimnik

That's a shame. It would have been interesting to see how far they could have progressed.

Flu can last several days and, even when he's recovered, he might be feeling weak. I'm not sure he'll be 100% for Lyons.

Would that be from the same source that claimed Andy went to a disco after he retired from his match against Hewitt at Roland Garros a few years ago? Surely there are more reliable sources than this rumour guy.

Jimnik, Llodra/Santoro would've creamed them anyway. But Andy really needed the time on court, and the thing is, he knew that, which is one more reason he wouldn't just cop out.

Lol Debstah...geez, didn't you know that Andy is responsible for everything wrong in the world - at least according to the posters on GM on MTF. ;)

I would have a flag, but I don't know how you put one on your profile.

I am just a grizzled old Texan (although not by birth), but Mrs WH is from NYC.

Mrs. WH must be a nice person...lol!!! Though I'm not originally a NYer - born a Connecticut Yankee.

About the flag - I'll look tomorrow and let you know. I can't remember what I did to change it.
