10-21-2005, 05:28 PM

Me too!

A Fernando-Nico final! (Don't forget about our Nico Alonso! lol!)
Sorry but I don't see Nico in the final

I only hope that the boys don't meet in early rounds :scared:

10-21-2005, 08:18 PM
Vamos, Fena, en Basel!!!

[yes, I remember when Ivan upset Rogi in Basel a couple of years ago... now Rogi is truly cursed in his home tourney: he's lost 2x, to Enqvist in 00, to Henman his nemesis in 01, in 02 Nalby his nemesis beat him when Fena beat Juanqui in the SFs, then he lost to Ivan, and in 04 05 he's not playing... ]

10-21-2005, 08:19 PM
Don't worry about Ivan, how about Nalby and Rafa?

10-21-2005, 08:44 PM
If Feña plays well I don't care the other players ;)

10-21-2005, 09:21 PM
I think Feña has the game to beat Nalbo!, Coria (I'm not worried about) and Stepanek, Hrbaty etc...
He's playing very good.. If you see his loses.. Only Ivan defeated him.. and Ivan is the best player indoors nowadays.. ;)
I'm happy for Feña!!

10-21-2005, 10:25 PM
Good luck Feña in Basel :bounce: :bounce:

10-21-2005, 10:32 PM
I really didnt understand what about with Feña. Only our Fer know how can someone feel playing with a mounter. I think, after Madrid, he knows how to win. He find the rute to win: cold blood and serenity. He is an excelent tennis player and he has hungry to wint, he decided that. (and obiously he is the most sexi tennis player ;) jeje )

Then, He has all that he need to win on Basel. And He will win Basel.

I feel that "Bombardero" climb to the TOP TEN.

10-21-2005, 11:35 PM
Feña can beat everyone and can lose with everyone, almost always depends of him and his head ;)

10-22-2005, 05:13 AM
Who said Ivan will play here as well? He even may withdraw playing in Lyon. You know,I'm very happy becoz Feña :smooch: is the only one I support the most in this tourney. :aplot: Won't have headache this time. :bigclap:
In this list, imo Nadal,Nalbandian,Hrbaty are his main competitors, you know, even Nadal tells people he has a knee injury, he still run so well. :armed: Feña should especially be careful of this guy. Best of luck to him! :rocker2:

10-22-2005, 08:57 AM
Feña can beat everyone and can lose with everyone, almost always depends of him and his head ;)

Yes, and that's why he isn't in the top 10 at the moment. The mental is important, even if I think he made a lot of progress with his mental.

10-22-2005, 11:53 AM
Yes, and that's why he isn't in the top 10 at the moment. The mental is important, even if I think he made a lot of progress with his mental.
He progress but still isn't enough ... Feña still lose his head when he feels angry on the court :(

10-22-2005, 11:55 AM
Vamos Fena, You can win Basle! If he plays the same way he did with Coria in the second set, for sure he is unbeatable.

10-22-2005, 04:02 PM
He progress but still isn't enough ... Feña still lose his head when he feels angry on the court :(

Like in Vienna  I remember that I saw him LIVE in Roland-Garros, I think it was in 2004 when he faced Mayer. Fernando became crazy and lost his match, because of his hot temper !! Nobody at the end of the match wanted to ask him something lol - I remember that I asked some friends to come with me to see the match cause they didn't know him, I said "don't worry, he doesn't behave like that in each match lol, he's a nice guy :)"

10-23-2005, 05:37 AM
Good Luck to Fernando in Basel! :hatoff: He's got to get past the quaterfinals this time! I am relieved Ivan isn't playing there too-Fena is playing well but Ivan seems to be on fire right now. Why does Fena always have to face the players who are best on that particular court type???? (Roger at Wimbeldon and now Ivan) Anyway, Basel is a new begining-and no Roger or Ivan-and Fena has beat Nalby and Coria this year so he knows he can do that again if he has to. I hope Fernando keeps playing well and goes far!

10-23-2005, 10:16 AM
Why does Fena always have to face the players who are best on that particular court type???? (Roger at Wimbeldon and now Ivan)

Exactly my thoughts Sparko and I especially don’t get why has he to face them always so early  why can't it be in the final for a change? Have to admit that I'm still not over Wimbledon as I'm convinced that with the way he played there he could have made it to the final or at least to the semis if he had been in the other half of the draw. It seems so unfair......

Best of luck in Basel, Fernando

10-23-2005, 07:40 PM
VAMOS FEÑA!!! :rocker2:

10-23-2005, 10:36 PM
Yes, let's hope for a good draw in Basel. Poor Fena had to come up vs. Rogi several times this year, esp in Wimby where he played quite well, I believe [like Juanqui].

I just watched the end of his match vs. Juanqui at RG03 QF where he lost that heartbreaker of a 5-setter but what really made me emotional was watching Fena and Juanqui hug each other so warmly at the net -- Fena whispered sth in Juanqui's ear and Juanqui buried his head in Fena's shoulder -- it was SO touching and real! I love those guys!!!! If I had a wish, I w wish for a Slam for Fena. ;)

10-23-2005, 11:18 PM
Our boy never has a good draw

Now is time for something different :)

10-24-2005, 12:24 PM

I've just noticed a funny thing, each time, I have attended to a tournament this year, Fernando was in final the tournament before.
I've been to Monte-Carlo, he was in final in the doubles final in Valencia, in Roland-Garros, final in the WTC, in Kitzbuehl, final in Amersfoort, and now Paris-Bercy, final in Basel. Funny thing  I hope I'll be able to see him in Paris, cause it seems complicated at the moment for me !!!

10-29-2005, 06:45 PM
Amazing match Feña!!! :yeah: ... And now his chances for Shangai are alive again :D

Now take the title Osito

10-29-2005, 06:51 PM

10-29-2005, 06:58 PM
Fabulous Fena played fantastic. He is undobtedly the most exciting player on the tour bar a certain ninetee year old. Excuse me if I say he played orgasmically. Truly he did. Wow!! you are the greatest!! Btw when Fernando wins tomorrow, he wold have won titles on three different surface this year, like Rafa, Federer and Roddick! Vamos y buena suerte manana!! Gonzo has been playing brilliantly lately! After Murray took a set off him in the Quarters, he got annoyed and just started to hit aces! And then in the Semi's, he destroyed Hrbaty. 6-0 6-3....wow!! That is amazing! To bagel a player ranked 22 in the world in the last four, Gonzo's dropshots were amazing!

Wishing him all the best for the final of the tournament, where I hope he can pick up the trophy!

10-29-2005, 09:59 PM
WOW!!!! :woohoo:

I can't be more happy !!!!
Teddy Bear is in both finals !!!!
I watched the match on tv and Gonzo is just playing incredible !!!! Hrbaty didn't know what to do (too bad for Hrbaty that his service didn't work well today) Gonzo was too good today !!! :yeah:
and like Maime said Gonzo's dropshots were amazing! :worship:

Well, our Fena sure is doing better than QF, isn't he?

VAMOS, FENA!!!! A ganar Basilea! Vamos!

Tambien el dobles con Agustin!

I want Osito to win the singles; if he and Agustin can also win the doubles, it will be icing on the very delicious cake!

If only I could see his matches this week...

10-30-2005, 03:22 PM
Fena, que pasa? How can you be broken at 4-3 in the 3rd?? Now Baggy is up 5-4 and if he breaks you again he will have won BASEL, his very first final??? Not a clever thing...

VAMOS, just hold!!!!

10-30-2005, 03:33 PM
OK, Fena now leads: 67 63 75... one more set to go, Fena [why does THIS tourney final have to be best of 5 and the others best of 3? cos it's worth more]!

VAMOS, FENA!!!!!!!!!!!!

10-30-2005, 04:05 PM
Congratulations Feña!! :woohoo:

Aleksa's Laydee

Yeah, I'm happy!!! Way to go Nando!!! You Rock!!! :rocker: And good luck to Fena and Calleri in the doubles final. Wouldn't that be something if he was a winner in both? Oh, and Fena won the Boodles Challange (exhibition) which is on grass so he really has won a final on all 4 types!

10-30-2005, 04:49 PM
Fenatastic(sorry I don't have a tilde or spanish keyboard) Fernando was fabulous!! He played with great determination and guts. Did you see his orgasmic shots? Wow!! All his shots were firing, the forehand, and especially the backhand down the line were really exhilirating to watch. I must admit Baghdatis played well and gave Fena a hard time, but there was no doubt that Gonzo will prevail. Isn't it fantastic, or shall I say, fenatastic that he has now joined the elite club and won three titles on three different surfaces. Now, I hope he is not too tired to win the doubles with Agustin. Vamos Fena!! Also buena suerte for next week. I hope back to back titles :worship: :) :worship:   :haha:

10-30-2005, 05:03 PM

Yes he is so cool. He just was calm in the whole match. Congrats to Fena, and to Marcos for playing well.

I like that Gonzo is thinking and is more calm when he plays and he doesn't go crazy and make a lot of UE with his forehand ;)

We were very happy for him. I hope we'll see him tomorrow evening after his practrice (if he comes to practrice), cause he'll arrive maybe around 12.00 at his hotel. Gonzalez Wins 'Double' Crown in Basel :worship:

Fernando Gonzalez claimed the rare ‘double’ crown as he won both the singles and team titles for the first time in his career at the Davidoff Swiss Indoors on Sunday.

In doing so, Gonzalez joined Roger Federer as the only players to have won the singles and doubles titles at the same tournament this year. Federer did the ‘double’ in Halle, defeating Marat Safin in the singles final and teaming up with Yves Allegro to defeat Safin and Joachim Johansson in the doubles final.

The Chilean started his day by earning his third ATP title of the season, ending qualifier Marcos Baghdatis' impressive run to the Basel final. Gonzalez defeated the Cypriot 6-7(8), 6-3, 7-5, 6-4, in a match that took 2 hours and 59 minutes to complete.

In the first set tie-break, Gonzalez failed to convert two set points, as Baghdatis held on to win the set after 63 minutes. The fourth seed got back on form in the best-of-five final to take the second set, but watched his lead evaporate in the third when Baghdatis fought back from a 2-4 deficit to take a 5-4 lead. With experience as his guide, the Chilean bounced back to win the last three games and clinch the set. One break of serve was enough for Gonzalez to seal the fourth set and the title.

By winning the final, Gonzalez moved up to 13th position in the INDESIT ATP 2005 Race, 56 points behind Nikolay Davydenko in the seventh position and just eight points behind Marat Safin in the eighth spot. He could earn a berth at Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai with another stellar performance in Masters Series Paris next week.

Gonzalez, who was making his fourth ATP final appearance this season, improved his record in Basel to 9-2 by winning his seventh career title. In 2005, he also won the finals in Auckland and Amersfoort.

Baghdatis, playing in his first career ATP final, was attempting to become the ninth first-time winner this year. The 20-year-old was not only the first qualifier to reach the Basel final but also the first player from Cyprus to reach an ATP final.

His previous best result this year was making the quarterfinals in Tokyo (l. to Ancic). He also reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, where he lost to World No. 1 Roger Federer.

Baghdatis' road to the final included upsets of eighth seed Tommy Haas in the second round and second seed Nalbandian in the quarterfinals. The Cypriot convincingly defeated Nalbandian, who had reached the Basel final the past three years, in straight sets on Saturday.

In the doubles event of the Davidoff Swiss Indoors, the Chilean teamed up with Argentine Agustin Calleri to defeat No. 4 seeds Stephen Huss and Wesley Moodie 7-5, 7-5 in 1 hour, 26 minutes. The duo, playing in only their second tournament together, reached the quarterfinals in Vienna in their other outing.

2005 Wimbledon champions Huss/Moodie, who have already secured a berth at the Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai, were playing in their second final as a team.

Gonzalez: “I’m really happy. It’s my third title this year and my first indoor title. I’m playing good tennis and I have chances to go to Shanghai, this gives me a lot of confidence.”

“It was tough. The first set was really close, I lost 10-8 in the tie-break having had a few set points. After losing the first set I was really tired but I felt confident. At the end I was really nervous.”

On his chances on qualifying for the Tennis Masters Cup: “It will be tough, I have to win and the others have to lose. But I don’t’ like to think too much about it, I’m just trying to play my game and win some matches.”

On winning the doubles title in Basel: “Today I was playing really good with Agustin. It was a really good match and I’m very happy.”

On winning the ‘double’ in Basel: “It’s the first time I do this. I’m very happy, I played great tennis all week and today was the best day.”

Baghdatis: “I lost today but I feel great. I played a great week and I had some lovely emotions here.”

“I was tired, my leg got tired in the second set. I’ve played a lot of matches this week and I gave a lot in the first set. It was tough out there but I just fought, I just ran and tried to get all the balls back. That’s what I did and that’s why I’m proud, I don’t have any regrets.”

“I knew that my parents could watch me today, that makes me happy because they share my match with me. I didn’t share a lot of things with them because they are so far away. So I’m really happy that they could see my match today.”

“All professional players want to be No. 1 and to win a Grand Slam. That’s more like a dream to me. My goal is just to play tennis and have fun."

Calleri: “I feel good, Fernando is a very good partner. For me this title is a very good finish to the year. I’ll try to play more doubles with Fernando next year.” :yeah:

10-31-2005, 11:05 AM
Gonzo has just moved to the top of my favourite plaers and number one player in my personal ranking. This is an idiosyncratic system I developed, purely subjective. It's based on how much pleasure I get by watching a particular tennis player play. Well done Gonzo. Yes, I hope he and Agustin will play more doubles next year. Can you imagine playing 2 superlative matches in one afternoon.

10-31-2005, 11:16 AM
Go Gonzo!!!!

10-31-2005, 04:02 PM
