Yeah I cried... It was a great moment ;)

But honestly I cry even when players I don't really like that much win a GS for the first time ;)

Naldo!! I am so happy for you!! You are Andy's number one defender and supporter on this board. You deserve all the happiness because you have always believed that Andy could accomplish this. I wish I could just give you a huge hug right now. :)

Whoa, what can I say, I didn't get up early for nothing. The match was great, Ferrero did ok, I don't think that was his best. Lots of rallies ended up won by Andy. But all the same, I can't be happier. Congratulations!!!!!! Andy really deserved this champion.

By the way, I thought those emotion were kind of cute. God, I've never seen him crying since French Open 2001.

Gah, I was at work, but we had it on TV!! Still, I had to temper my excitement cos today we broke a really rough story and it was torturous ;)

But inside I was screaming during every point :D

Congrats Andy!! We love you!! :bounce: :hearts: :bounce: :hearts: :bounce:

Rebecca's a little tired after
her
hormone-induced Andy insults in wtaworld/menstennisforums, etc.
She was prepared to "slam" (her word) Andy if he failed to win.
The only slam he got was a Grand Slam.

Even "brainless" Andy flattened
that god Ferrero. I can imagine Ferrero winning Wimbledon
too. LOL
9999 more Andy threads flood GM.

Congratulations to Andy Roddick on winning the 2003 U.S. Open and his frist grand slam title! :D He truly deserves to be the 2003 U.S. Open champion. :) Andy had a very tough draw and he had to endure the seemingly endless rain delays and match postponements and that had to be very frustrating.

And he played under great control in the final. I was pleasantly surprised how well he played.

Andy Roddick has been put under an immense amount of pressure by the American media to be the next great American men's tennis player. But he's handled himself with class and dignity. He's even learned to control his emotions. And he's starting to fulfill the American media's great expectations. But he doesn't need to be the next great American men's tennis player. He just needs to be the best tennis player he can become. And the rest will fall into place.

Well done Andy! :bigclap:

andylover_16 go to yahoo.com and go to the tennis section and go to the pictures, find whatever roddick picture you want, im guessing the one with his us open title, and right click on it, but leave it regular size, views its properties and copy the adress written. then go to the avatar section here and paste it where u put the adress for a personal avatar and voila

I just saw the Bestdamnsportshow with Andy yesterday. He got teased for wearing the visor
and for crying after winning. Ljubicic issue: Andy joked, "it's too bad he disappointed so many other guys."

To Tom Arnold, he said "I don't wanna get it on
with you!" after Tom said he could return Andy's
serve, & let's get it on.

Tom asked, "Were the queer guys for the straight guys at your
house?" He said, "No, they were at your house."

I missed the Regis and Kelly show with him. GRRRR

I didn't want Roddick to win the US Open.

You all should admit that Ferrero is, in general, much more complete than Andy. Ferrero is great in all surfaces; Roddick is horrible on clay (why? simply because serveis not important there).

Andy is almost nothing without his serve.

Despite saying this, I admit Roddick deserved to win the final (also because Ferrero didn't play his best).

ˇVIVA JUAN CARLOS FERRERO!

Thanks for posting those positive words. :)

Ferrero is a much more experienced player than Andy. Many people also doubted Ferrero's ability and mental toughness until this year. I think he's proven that he is a force even on hard courts.

Andy isn't horrible on clay although I will agree that it is his worst surface. He's won at least three titles on that surface. Granted, two of those were the U.S. clay court championships, and for one of them he had to beat Pete Sampras (who had defeated Agassi in the semifinal) and he also is no great shakes on that surface. He also won what? St. Poltens? I think that is right. So, to say it is his worst surface is correct, but he's not altogether horrible as your post so winningly suggests. :)

Star, he has won 4 titles on clay. The one that you forgot to mention is Atlanta during his first year.

Yeah! How could I forget that? Did he beat Sampras in that tournament? I remember that is the first thing that got me liking that.

But Atlanta (rip) was green clay.

Deboogle!.

he beat Pete in the US Mens Clay Court - not sure which year (2001 or 2002) but I'm pretty sure it was in houston b/c on tv here in the promo ads for Houston they show Andy and Pete shaking hands at the net

I think he beat him in Atlanta too. I know he beat Sampras once before he beat him in Houston, 'cause I was there to see him beat Sampras for the title in Houston, and I know he had already beaten Sampras before that. It was 2002 anyway. 2001 was when Andy won it the first time and when he offered to buy tickets for everyone who stayed for that very late night rain delayed match of his. :)

Hilarious!!
Crazy Canuck (Rebecca):
I was winning money... until I dropped about 30 bucks on Nalbandian when he was up 4-2 in the third at the USO ;) That might explain why I was so pissed off after that match

Crazy Canuck
I should point out that not ONLY did I bet on Dave to beat Roddick, I laid on him to win the USO at that point as well. Double whammy!

Wildcat Bob
Rebecca, all the blame goes to the USTA and that dumbass fan during the tiebreak...

Crazy Canuck

Nah... David had no excuse not to win one of the next two sets.

Hence the mention of the USTA...

I'm trying not to be controversial, dont' encourage me you two ;)

Yup, he beat Sampras in Miami 2001, and in Houston 2002.
