Score of Paes/Zimonjic v. Dent/Ginepri currently stands at 6-1 1-6 4-4 40-15....

It's more than a little amusing that this tourney wasn't even gonna HAVE doubles and now they are using the normal scoring!?

It wasn't on the list of "test" places.

I know but it's still amusing, considering they were all "we're not gonna have doubles in solidarity of the changes" and then they go and not only have doubles but use the regular scoring

or, maybe I'm just easily amused................ :bolt:

Even though the tourny is not a test site, it is still ironic I think.

Its an ITF tournament. Only ATP tournaments are testing the new scoring.

say huh? Since when is an ATP Masters event an ITF event. That doesn't make sense, Fee :p If it were an ITF event, they wouldn't have had a broo-ha-ha over the ATP lawsuit and the scoring changes in the first place!

To clarify, Masters events are jointly owned by the ITF/ATP/Grand Slams. The ITF has not voted on the ATP doubles scoring changes, so it can't be used at their events. The lawsuit was just a lame excuse to save a few bucks anyway. Tiriac is a bit of a nut, isn't he?

doubles should be played keeping this scoring method!!!!!!!

To put it mildly :) His press conferences are always good for a laugh.

:woohoo: As someone who just played a normal scoring doubles match last night herself, I'm excited (despite the fact we will not get to see a minute of doubles coverage on TV :( ).

Also nice to see "normal scoring" is not keeping top singles players from entering the Madrid draw: Nadal, Roddick, Gaudio, Puerta, Ferrer, Blake, etc. :yeah:

I seriously doubt the ITF will ever approve these changes, they are much less :cuckoo: than the ATP.

He certainly is a character. I remember one year when Becker was playing in the USO and they had Tiriac assessing Becker's play. He said he wondered why the greatest grass court player in the world would want to play as a baseliner since Becker was staying back a lot. He was either drunk during the interview or doped up on some pills. He was a character.

I doubt the normal scoring is a put off... The very 'considerate' scheduling might... :o :retard:

not quite correct
its only the TMC in Shanghai which is a joint ATP/ITF venture.
got that deal in place when they merged the ATP World Champs and the Grand Slam Cup.

all the 9 TMS are ATP only.

Ahhh well I like the double and I dont think that having the shorter scoring just spolis it, also they should have the double tournament.

I doubt the normal scoring is a put off... The very 'considerate' scheduling might... :o :retard:Yeah, and Nadal pulled out due to his injury. Who the hell knows when they might decide to put Andy and James on the OP, etc. For the top players to play more doubles, it also has to be worth their while (aka if a player is playing to get match play in for their singles game, the doubles match should be scheduled BEFORE their singles match.:o)

Well, that's fantastic news that regular scoring is being used!

Wait, they're not using no-ad scoring as well?

That's great! :) Really... it's great for doubles.
I wonder why they didn't choose to use the new scoring, or why the ATP/IFT didn't force them
