I was never a huge Ivan Ljubicic fan, so this is from an objective point of view and I'm not trying to be a fanboy, but this is just something I noticed today after watching his straight set route of Juan Carlos Ferrero today in the Vienna final.

I've seen Ljubicic play several times before, but I had never noticed how effortless Ivan Ljubicic's game is. His big serve is very technically sound, his forehand seems extremely natural with a straight arm extension and follow through. HIs backhand is long and flowing, maybe this is the reason he is able to endure more long matches than most guys his size.

Well...I'm not a big fan either, but I am impressed with the fact that he won this tournament without losing a set...and perhaps without dropping serve.

An impressive performance no doubt which makes it even more unbelieveable that that he just doesn't perform at the big tourneys. Hopefully he can change all that.

He can play in rallies just because he is Croatian and you don't have much more surfaces except clay in Croatia. I may be wrong, so maybe some Croatians would enlighten, but I guess that it's the same as in Poland, where clay courts are 98% of all surfaces

Yes. It is mostly clay, thats why Ljubicic has more wins then loses career on clay

most courts are clay. we have a couple of hard courts (very, very few) and like 2 grass courts in varazdin (where karolina warms up for wimbledon)

This year is realy special for Ivan, he is so sure of what he has to do during matches! He has everything under control! I'm not so nervous watching him play, as I was before!
