It has been almost 2 years since JC Ferrero won a singles title, can he break the drought tomorrow tomorrow? He will be facing either big serving Ivan "the terrible" Ljubicic, or compatriot Tommy "gun" Robredo.

the final is best of 5, you really thing Ferrero could beat Ljubicic in straights.

When Ferrero can bring this performance tomorrow again and maybe has saved his best stuff for the final, Ljubicic must really be aware of him; I think we are guaranteed a good and hopefully interesting final. (I think Ljubicic might struggle against Robredo today, this ain't so easy like the previous rounds.)

I think Ferrero has a good oportunity to win the title tomorrow . I have seen Ljubicic tired during his match against Robredo and if Tommy had been more intelligent Ljubo was beatable today . The key has been that long game ( 11th ) in the first set when Ivan seemed to be very tired making a lot of u.e with his forehand, and Robredo lacked aggressiveness in those break points . If Robredo had broken Ljubicic in that game i saw Robredo as ther winner of the match . In the second set Robredo lost his concentration in the first game, Ivan broke and the match was almost over .

Ferrero is playing very solid and Ljubicic hasn't shown a great level today besides his physical condition seems to be very low, then i would bet on Ferrero for tomorrow.

A player like Ferrero had defeated Ivan today , and if Robredo had a good mind and not the shitty mind that he has , Tommy had won the first set breaking in that long game when Ivan seemed to be Santa Claus giving Robredo a lot of presents with those silly forehands into net . Tommy winning the first set , and in the worst of cases reaching a third set, had defeated Ljubo since Ivan had been physically dead.

if you really think about that match, if not for the 40-0 = 21 min game- Ivan won easy. up to that pt, holding serve easy, 2nd set, had bp every time Tommy served.

Robredo had that huge chance in the 21-minute game to break and take the set. Had he done that then I think he would have won the match. He was deflated in the 2nd set and Ivan wisely took control.

Ferrero plays well indoors and has played well all week. He will present more of a threat with his returns than Robredo and he is freshenough to contest a 5-set match. I don't think Ivan is and he will be thinking to his match on Tuesday. Ferrero to win for me...sorry Jerry ;)

Tommy's mental strength is really poor and after losing the first set his mentality went downhill in the second set . The first set was very closed and Robredo had a great oportunity to break in the 11th game .
Ivan played badly and Robredo more badly because he didn't know how to take of advantage of Ivan's bad day and fatigue . But please do not concentrate only on the second set because that isn't to be objective , since in the first Ljubo suffered a lot and if Robredo had took advantage of his break points the result could have been different.
In the second set Robredo just gave up.

Obviously with both players playing at their best Ljubo is superior in indoors, nobody disagree with that truth, but if you don't want to admitt that the match could have been very different if Robredo had broke in the 11th game you aren't objective

Latest quotes after the semis:

Ljubicic:

"I had difficulty moving on the court because of so much tennis in the last few weeks," said Ljubicic, who beat Gael Monfils to win his second career title in Metz last week.

"I didn't actually feel tired. I just felt my legs were a little bit heavy.

"When you come from a long week as I had in Metz you want to win in straight sets as much as you can, and I'm in the final without losing a set so it definitely helps me to recover."

"Of course I feel a little tired, but I have been playing great and I have been able to keep the feeling from last week going," said Ljubicic.

"I have been sleeping okay and still feel good, and I still have a chance of qualifying for the Masters Cup (the tour's year-end championships) so I want to keep it going."

Not sure that this is the optimal surface for Ljubicic. The Vienna court isn't that fast. The court in Stockholm is much much faster, for example. I just watched the second set today, and Ljubicic had big problems holding his serve. Look for Juan Carlos to be able to take better care of his breakpoints tomorrow!

I had no idea this would be best of 5 sets. Looking ahead, that's really bad news for JC. He needs to do well in Madrid, if he's to qualify for Shanghai, but now he's going to be so tired next week. To make matters worse, I don't think he'll be seeded which means he won't get a bye to the 2nd round.

Best of 3 sets, I'm sure Ljubicic would win. But since it's best of 5, I think it will be 50-50. JC will obviously be the fresher of the two and Ivan looked a bit tired, playing a few lazy shots. The key will be who plays the tie-breakers better, I have no doubts there'll be a few in the final. Ivan will have his big serve to help him but JC will have to work hard for most of his points.

I predict 6-7 7-6 6-4 6-4 to JC.

Either Ferrero or Ljubicic will win this in a very tight match, the scoreline going something like this - 7-6 (8), 5-7, 6-7 (12), 7-5, 11-9 (if there's a fifth set tiebreak, then the tiebreak will be something like... 7-6 (15)). Tennis wins! :)

Ivan played like crap today and Robredo still had no chance to win.

Ljubicic did not play like crap and Robredo neither. For large parts it was an enjoyable match and it was close untill the end.

As the gambler said it's Ljubo's M.O sadly. I mean if he had something resembling 2 decent results in a Slam or a TMS, then he'd be in the top 10.

In theory he should be able to do well in these last 2 events, but I will believe it when I see it.

Credit to Ivan, he played a very Sampras-like match. He never looked like conceding his serve and he played all the break points very well. He seemed to raise his game very well for all the important points.

JC made his worst mistakes when it really mattered. He didn't play badly but there was nothing spectacular about his performance like there use to be. Had he put that smash away during that 36-stroke rally, they'd be playing a 4th set now.

The real question is: how high would he be ranked if he performed just as well at the Slams and Masters as he did at the International Series?

And it's not because he plays badly in 5 set matches - today and all his DC matches prooves it. He seems to have some problem playing in the important tournaments. It's a shame because when you look at his game, he has no weaknesses. Serve, forehand, backhand, volleying and even his movement can be very good when he tries. He should be a top 6 player.

I had liked Ivan before, but some of his so-called fans being complete asses for the past couple days ruin being able to like him now. The title of this thread really should be "How much further can Ivan's fans climb up his ass."

Don't get me wrong, Ivan deserved to win today, but some of you need to shut the fuck up already. You'd think he just beat Roger in the finals of Wimbledon from the way people have been going on and on and ON.

Yes, you don't give a "fudge". That's why you just responded to his post to tell him to "fudge off".

Maybe you wouldn't take so much shit everyday if you could actually post with some tact.

ill keep that in mind for next time :yeah:

i respond like that after he wins, cuz before he plays trolls say he has no chance to win :), and if he does not win, they would be all over it. so i do it 2, 12 match win steak has been good :)

A few more Ivan bootlicking posts from RDucky and the others, and soon the croatards will have officially out-tarded the Fedtards. ;) :p

You're a worthless piece of shit, really. "Croatards?" What the fuck is that?

Why do so many people hate Ljubicic? They seem to just want him to fail. When his fans celebrate a victory (on a TENNIS board...) they get pissed off. Hell, theres a TITLE to this thread, if you dont like it, dont CLICK on the link.
