I think he's still injured. His leg which made him withdraw in the quallies of Metz must still bother him. Not a good situation to face the Giant Karlovic...

Nice stuff big Ivo. Novak needs to improve his serve and then he will have the complete package. He didn't serve all that well at the USO and still had a great tournament.

Karlovic is actually a rather entertaining player, in an amusing way that is. It's hilarious, watching him attempt to actually play tennis. You know, groundstrokes, coming to net and using a strategic approach. We all know that he has the serve down, but tennis is as much a game of chance as a game of skill. Anyone can get 1 lucky break and for Ivo that's all he really needs.

It's tough not to like the guy though, he seems quiet and humble ... unlike that other guy on tour with the 150mph serve <whistles innocently> ... what was his name again? Roddick/RoboRod.

Anyway, good victory for Karlovic, but a tough opponent to face when you're fairly new on tour and haven't seen him before. This would be a tough task even for Federer, nice effort Djokovic. :)

When Agassi is served to his reach he returns best. But when Karlovic going to corners where Agassi has to move he has lots of problems also.

he's just a ace machine but i've never thought karlovic had much of a gane to him, maybe cos you don't see it enough cos he never gets a game going!

I love being a Karol fan... unlike you my life is not dependent on whether he wins matches. I never feel the need to insult him when he loses, as you and your posse do with Mario.

I think so too. Everyone who meets him says he's a really friendly shy guy.
I really enjoyed watching some of his matches this year (eg Hewitt at Queens this year). Sometimes I think it's just fun to watch his opponents get so frustrated.

At least he's not so irritatingly petty as you seem to be - I mean, he could easily go "Ljubicic - never been past the third round of a Slam; Ancic - sucky LOL; Karlovic - nothin' but a serve :D; and so on," but he isn't, is he? While you feel pressured to use a player's losses (one that inexplicably happens to be one of his favorites) against him. And at least he supports said player despite such losses.
