I ask this since he always seems to be injured at this time of the year :fiery:
At least he has the #1 ranking secured so he doesn't need the points urgently.
Still, I would like to see him win the nidoor fall events at some stage in his carreer......

Don't know, seems like he's trying awfully hard to comfortably keep his No 1 ranking while playing the least amount of tournaments possible. :tape:

He clearly seems to badly want to win Basel, so I would be shocked to see him not play there whenever he's healthy. He clearly likes his season heavy in the earlier part of the year so maybe he just doesn't care. Whatever, gives someone else an opportunity at those titles

But that's making the assumption that he pulled out of these tournaments because he doesn't care or just wants to rest, not because he's injured. OK, maybe because he's got #1 locked up and these aren't GS events so he doesn't need to "play through the pain", and it's easier for him to justify withdrawing. I could understand that if it was one tournament (like Roddick withdrawing from the event in LA, but then playing the following week in Washington), but not all three. Especially when in all his interviews after USO he said that he was "fresh" because he took his "rest" after Wimbledon and his intention was to play the rest of the year. And if he was just pacing himself, you think he'd play Basel over Thailand. You've got to believe he wants to win his hometown event rather than just being there as a spectator.

Will Federer ever play the indoor masters and Basel again?
rhetorical question I suppose

By this time of year, he's been pretty deep into most of the tournaments he's entered so I think at some point soon he'll be there. He has many years ahead of him so don't count him out before he retires.

I sure hope so, I am sure he sure hopes to have that Basel trophy among the many he already has before he calls it quits. I am so sad not only because of his injury but for the fact that he wont play in Basel, as I said before my paternal grandmother who lives in Luzern got tickets for a very cheap prize and she was gonna take pics of him for me. But I guess since she lives in Switzerland she'l always have the possibility of getting the cheap tickets for me in the future whenever Fed is healthy and plays his home tournie.

Federer will have plenty of time to play and win the indoor masters events. Roger does usually play well indoors.
