Solid win for Nalby! :yeah: Could have been easier though. He was leading 6-4 3-1 but Seb came back.

Nakby has a specialty...he doesnt finish off games he's leading

somehow he keeps making matches longer and longer...

he pays for it in grand slams...in the first rounds against "easy" players..he keeps getting into 4 and 5 setters

at least after he misses several MP's or losses a set...he comes back and win...not break down and lose...like one...(GG gaudio)

I was following the match on Live Scores (trying to refrain from chatting :o ) so I didn't know about those MPs.

at least he won the match
I wasn't watching complete, but he seemed to be playing agressively also
not being too tentative and defensive, that's important for Nalbandian and then he can dominate matches against most opponents

It was 6-3 in the end but a very solid performance. I was so upset when he didnt finish the tiebreak he was up 5-2 and I had like 6 minutes before catching my bus to go back to class. I left and actually missed my bus, so I didnt go to class, I came back he was leading 3-1 in the third. That backhand was lethal today as usual, too good for Grosjean. Nonetheless, great stuff from Nalbi.

Nalbandian is naturaly a counter-pouncher, he gets realy fueld only when he needs to spoil the oponents game, but he has problems when he is leading - expecially when he is comfortably leading. It was again obvious in this match... I wonder if he will manage to ever win any slam?

Sorry, but this was not a solid win. Had he finished Grosjean off at 6-3 up in the TB, we could call it so. I just hope he has a "solid win" against Eitzinger today.

You're right...he does need to find that "second gear" when he's ahead.

If Nalby loses 15 lbs he'd be a top 8 player easily. And this isn't because he's badly overweight or anything, but because his style of play requires good speed.

He still had a solid finish. And on the whole, beating a player like Grosjean is a good win.

You're right about this. Anyway, I predicted the first set correctly in today's match. It's the second set that I got a little too ambitious about.
