No, we don't get Stan's match on TV, but I hope he fights and fights!! Go Stan!!!!!
i had sth to do out of home just now, and back!
seems Stan's match isn't that bright, lost the 1st set, and one break behind in the 2nd set. but the most important thing is KEEPING HEALTHY!! i hope that medical call is only a massage for relieving muscle nervousness, nothing serious!

He was bageled by Massu at last set :bigcry: my heart broke.

I hope nothing serious to his foot, at least he can get over it to play DC. Next tourney will be Romania Bucharest, don't know if he will play it or not, guess we need more days to know sth from his website.

Get well soon, Stan  you still play a good USO!

hope so. Romanian clay tourney do not have many big names, it will be a good chance for him there.

aww, if he wasn't injured i'm sure he wouldn't get a bagel in that 3rd. still, making it to the 2nd round of the USO is something to take pride in. hope he comes back better and fitter.

Stan's injury isn't serious. In Gstaad he got injured on his right foot and the pain comes and goes away. He said "it is not serious but annoying, for sure" ;)

Phew! It was Stan's words on TV after the match

I am wondering... we asked for a Stan forum quite a while ago, but did we get a reaction of Amanda on this?
Now the Djokovic fans asked for a forum some time ago, and they did get the forum at once, and they have hardly more posts than we have: 1,414. So why did he get a forum, but didn't Stan get his?

Nymeria
09-20-2005, 11:54 AM
I don't know if it is less active, there is only a difference of a few hundred posts, they got like 1500 in total, we are over 1000 as well. And I am sure we would post more if we would have an own forum for Stan and could have a real chat thread etc. So I would say Stan really deserves one as well

Yukio, what you posted in the Stan forum request thread seems quite true, I mean the part where you said that posts of some posters have a bigger influence, some posters can get what they want easier than others. It might not be like that, but it really seems to be that way.

And I did have a look on the different playerforums, these all have less than 1000 posts, or have just a bit more (those got the number of posts between brackets). I didn't look at the other stan threads in this forum, and did only look at this thread, but still we got more than all these:

Blake (1067),
ginepri (1173),
dent,
gambill,
philippoussis,
youzhny (1067),
davydenko,
lapentti,
puerta,
zabaleta (1219),
cañas,
costa,
Mathieu,
clement (1201),
srichaphan,
ljubicic,
hrbaty,
novak,
berdych

 so I would say Stan deserves his forum!

I can't believe they even never look into Stan's cheering thread until now. I formerly thought Stan's forum hasn't been approved for so long time is because his ranking, popularity, or sth else we didn't do it enough, but from Gravity's post, the request itself seems totally be ignored.

What a match Stan made :worship: I can't believe he won in straight sets :worship: What an ambiance in Geneva, that was really great!! Stan made a lot of unforced errors but it was coz he had to distress from the pressure sometimes. Otherwise he kicked Murray's ass and I AM SO PROUD OF STANY!!! :worship:

Oh and Murray was fucking up with his dropshots of my ass :fiery: He made this sooooooo many times that I can imagine how Stan was angry coz he couldn't do anything!

So happy right now

Hey hun :smooch: Yeah was great there, though more ambiance during Stan's match coz Roger's one was too easy :p But he got a standing ovation anyway :p

Yeah I read that, you rock Sweetie  Nice you can watch tomorrow's and Sunday's match :) Maybe you'll see some of us in the crowd  we are behind the Swiss Team corner, a bit upper... Try to catch us :p

I am in the middle of busy situations now. I have got tomorrow and Sunday free, but the next whole week is with lots of action. I knew I was going to be busy. So, I decided not to buy the tickets... It seems that I didn't win the tickets, either, from TSR... :o Well, I am also cheering as much as you guys are doing there (me in front of TV)! :)

So happy right now

 s to KarloBeckFan ( ;) ), RF, Paulie, oneandonlyhsn, Sweetie ( ) and NOVA ( )

Hi Nathy!!!!!! :D :smooch:  You must enjoy the day a lot!!!! Swiss's two winnings, Roger's is too easy and no suspense for sure, but Stan's straight sets victory is really great. To be frankly, I am a bit worried before the match coz Murray is not bad on clay, and he has good fighting spirit. I thought it could be a 4 sets or 5 sets match again, but yesterday's Stan let me know I should put more confidence in him. He surely can DID it!! :woohoo:

 Keep enjoying the matches at weekends Nathy!!

He usually only list Swiss tourneys and big tourneys on the schedule. Maybe Metz and Vienna were added temporarily, some adjust to the schedule. He didn't list New Haven in the schedule either, but he did play it.

Thanks Neely, I know you can't create forums, and I thank you for your support. I think the only thing we can do now is waiting, but we've been waiting so long already.

I just think it's unfair, but also explainable, that the players the support get a forum a lot easier. But I also know, that if they keep making forums this board will soon be extremely big with unused forums. And they can't delete forums that easily, coz that is unfair for those fans. Well I'll see what happens...

As promised the headlines of Stan's video:

"Pardonnez-moi" 1st October 2005

Stan takes a week off to rest after the DC Tie against Great Britain. He said he got little injured on Sunday (spread the ankle). After being asked what is an after-DC week like he said he is taking the pressure down, sees his mates and stay still, in Switzerland. About the DC 2006 draw he says that Australia is a big nation so it's gonna be tough but to play them at home it an advantage they have to consider and if Roger plays (what Stans hopes) all can happen. And he precises that a team with or without the world number one isn't the same. He's been asked how would he feel mentally before a match against Hewitt for example and he says he got a ot of motivation to play such an opponent, he always looks forward to playing a big match in front of the home crowd, it is such an ambiance! The journalist says his colleagues (coz he sucks in sport :p he says this himself) tell him that Stan seems shy but once on the court he is really offensive and Stan agrees saying his way of playing is really going to get the point, not waiting for the other's error. And then he says he is quite shy in real life whereas tennis has always been there for him to get all his emotions out of himself.
The journalist asks if one needs to get angry to fight in a match and Stan says no, no need to get yourself angry before a match but sure, you need to stimulate yourself during the game. Another question is, is it necessary to hate the opponent :p Stan says no he doesn't think you need to, himself has no really ennemies and he takes care about himself, no matter who is the opponent. And when being asked who he doesn't like in tennis, guess what's his answer :p Andrew Murray :p He says he doesn't like the way Murray behaves on a court (too "show-man", never stop complaining about every little thing"...) He has a good relationship with sports reporters (at least at the moment, he says :p ) He has never had problems with the "trash press" (Sun, tabloids) so far, coz what interests people at the moment is his sports life, he has never been asked about his private life (GF and so on :p )
Then some sponsors talk (where he says "I haven't the driving licence yet but I already got the car :p" ) His goal 'til the end of the year is to be in the Top50 but it wouldn't be the end of the world if he didn't manage to. Then some talk about money where Stan explains: first his parents have all paid so that he could keep on playing, last 2 years he could pay himself what he had to and since the beginning of the year he is earning money, properly.
The girls/women's look on him has change and he says it makes it all easier since he is better known (when he was 15-16 he had absolutely no success at all with girls) :p and says it's revenge time  About the personnality, being "shy" (or not really a show-man) can be a problem in the USA with the sponsors. Stan says someone like Roger isn't that known there and a Roddick for example is much more interesting for the sponsors (well of course he is American....) or a Nadal that makes some show. And a funny thing about Kournikova: the journalist asks if thinking too much of what's around tennis can be bad for a tennisplayer (with Kournikova as example) and Stan answers that she wasn't bad at tennis but she realized she would earn more money by "showing her ass" (Stan's words) than by playing tennis :p
About his childhood he said he was very happy as a kid, he loved to help his father on the tractor (they lived in a farm), he rarely had fights with bros and sis. The farm still exists and they sell bio products now. He explains then who are the Zavialoffs and says their relationship is maybe even beyond brotherhood, stronger than that (they live the 3 together, in Lausanne). When having free time he says they often go out but without exces coz Stan knows what he wants and where he wants to go so he doesn't play dumb when being in a nightclub or so.
He's been asked if his "final goal" is to be number 1 in the world and he says no, he can't really think about being the best of the world. He doesn't like to have precise goals, for example beginning of 2006 he won't say "In the end of the year I want to be in the Top10" coz if he wouldn't manage to it would be a failure and he doesn't want to fail. He plays and see where he gets... He began to play tennis thanks to the Zavialoffs who were playing and coming regularly to Stan's home when he was little (he began at 8 which is quite late). The player who was a model for him was Pete Sampras who he unfortunately has never met coz Pete retired when Stan began coming up in the ATP.
He has a good relationship with Roger also, they are mates outside tennis and on a court Roger gives a lot of advice to Stan. And the reason why Stan appreciates the most training with Roger is that, he is so good that he makes other highering their level of play. For Stan the players ranked between 10 and 100 (almost) have the same level of play, what makes the difference is their ability to handle key moments during a match. A question is "Did it happen to you that, before a match, you knew it was lost in advance" and Stan hesitates... and says yes, in February he played Roger in Rotterdam and he knew he couldn't beat him so all he wanted is to enjoy the time spent on the court, that's all. His big memories are... his victory against Murray :p He says it will remain a big memory coz with all the ambiance he won a key match and his first DC victory, also his FO this year when he lost to Puerta.
Next step in the real life is... the driving licence :p He didn't do it 'til now coz he travels a lot and doesn't need that much to drive but on the 6th October he took the theorical exam (hope he got through :p )

Thanks a lot for the translation Nathy!!!! :worship::worship: I really appreciate what all you have done which takes you a lot of time

The interview is really amusing and has a lot of fun to read :rolls: now I know why he looks so unhappy when shaking with Murray in that pic  Stan has cute personality (at least from this interview :p ): low profile, practical, and friendly. Even if he can hardly be a very top player, I (of course all his fans) really hope he can achieve the real success of his career, at least what he thinks it's successful.

Allez Stan, fighting for the driving licence!! :woohoo:

i don't think Coria play bad these days, doesn't he? but his serving is really......he still can play well on hard court. If Stan has to face Coria in 2nd round, he has to keep down his UE, otherwise Coria will have the edge.

You are 100% right there, it's esp. Guille's serve I have heard, can't say too much coz I haven't seen a lot of matches, but that's what they've been posting in Guille's forum. They're not too optimistic there about Guille's chances this tourny. Keeping UE's down would help Stan. But let's first see what happens the first round before talkinga bout the 2nd

I watched Guille's live matches in China Open one month ago. Yes, he got a lot UEs, but I don't think his serving is weak. The speed and power of his serving is much better than last year, but it's not stable, very unstable, that's why he got so many UEs. I think he may need a period of time to adapt his serving strengthen, maybe the period is not short, but once his serving can be stable down, I am sure he can do a very good job even on the hard court.

As to Stan, yes, Vliegen is also not that easy to face, at least we shouldn't look him down  if Stan can face Guille, that match will definitely be good to Stan, he can learn a lot from the match against a top 10. :yeah:

Stan's biggest advantage is he played in his home country, and he can always play well in Switzerland. If he keeps his confidence and the fighting, I even won't be surprised he beated Coria in 2nd round. :) but let's just see the 1st round first. Good luck to him!!!! :bounce:
