Hey guys, pretty good predictions. those of you who put Andre at No. 2 weren't so far off -- it wasn't expected that he would take time off to be with Steffi and the new kid for two months. And I don't blame anyone for thinking that Hewitt would be in the top Ten. What a huge drop he has taken so quickly --- also partially due to taking time off.

Should we predict for next year?

Federer
Roddick
Ferrero
Hewitt
Coria
Agassi
Nalbandian
Moya
Novak

Deboogle!.
11-18-2003, 08:53 PM
lol you can, I'll sit by and watch. But here's my .02

I think Nalby could go higher than 8, especially considering his records against many of those guys and assuming his wrist heals FULLY. I don't know if I see Novak hanging around, but maybe, plus - Grosjean, Paradorn, Fish, Massu, and everyone pretty much currently between 11-20 has the potential to move up into the top 10 next year IMO. Some of those guys moved a lot without being that consistent so if they can put it together for titles and in the majors, they'll move up there. Plus there are a lot of wild cards further down. If Dent stays healthy, if Ginepri keeps improving, they could be factors. Same with Lopez, Gaudio.

Is it 2004 yet? It's going to be so exciting!

J. Corwin
11-18-2003, 11:07 PM
I agree but I highly highly (highly?) doubt Ginepri will be making top ten next year (same with Lopez). Dent...meh. I don't see him being consistent enough.

Agassi is gonna have a tough time keeping himself in the top 5 with all these young guys moving up (and some have passed) on him. He's barely #4 now, and that's with all his AO points intact. He'll have to find a way to do really well in the second half of the season.

Deboogle!.
11-18-2003, 11:19 PM
I doubt they'll make the top 10 next year, I just meant that there are so many good players challenging them and capable of BEATING the guys currently in the top 10 (ie, Dent had huge wins over Andy and Ferrero in tourney finals, etc.) that they could play a factor.

1. Federer

8. Grosjean

It depends how much he decides to play. He regularly has one of the best, if not the best, win-loss percentage of any player --- even this year. But he doesn't play nearly as often as the others. So if he decides to take a couple of months off next year like he did in 2003, then I agree with you, Top 5 will be hard to maintain.

Oh yeah. It's so impossible. But I thought it would be fun, and though I don't normally predict, I didn't think it would be fair to ask others to do it without putting myself on the line.

But I think I want to redo it and put Schuettler in the top ten.

If Tim gets a lil more consistent (ie breaking the bombing out the first round of USO curse) he can make top ten some time.

Nope, but he has been known to continously exit the first round.

Well, twice to be precise - but he did have his worst ever defeat there in 99, when he was a Top 10 player and lost in straight sets in the first round to the then-unknown Canas. I'd say this year was more of a draw-making curse: getting the huge tournament favourite in the first round wasn't exactly brilliant luck.

I am always floored to see how many people visit Andy's forum.

I never think to go to the forum for a player that isn't one of my favorites. :)

But please join in Sjengster! Give us your predictions too. :wavey:

One way or another star, this forum is always very interesting... heck, even the most extreme posters on here seem balanced compared to the worryingly fixated Dirk over on the Federer forum (just read his latest oh-so clever Ninja adaptation in there to see who's been watching too much Peckinpah recently).

Predictions... I reckon the Top 4 won't change much, Coria will probably surpass Agassi. Schuettler will finish lower than this year but still in the Top 10, Moya and Philippoussis will drop out. There, that's my considered and very vague opinion.

Deboogle!.
11-20-2003, 11:17 PM
lol sjengster your predictions make sense to me, based on how we can judge right now anyway.

I don't go to other players' forums who I don't particularly care for, but I think it's cool if you want to come here, because it's pretty clear you're not going to come and attack (like some people seem to do once in a while).

And I think a lot of the "haters" from GM don't realize how even-keeled and reasonable most Andy fans are, they only see us at our pissy defensive worst

You're always welcome. I was just surprised, that's all. I will say one thing for the posters here: I hardly ever see anything negative posted about any other players.

I think we should keep this thread going and just update our thoughts about the top ten from time to time.

Deboogle!.
11-22-2003, 01:30 PM
good idea star :)

And I'd never go post anything about a player like some of those people do. There are a few players that I intensely dislike but no one here could probably even know who because I just don't talk about it. Some people need to learn a little tact when there are people with different opinions around
