What tournament wins suprised you this year? For me, it was Nadal winning the title on hard court in Montreal - against Agassi of all people.

What's your choice for most suprising tournament win in 2005?

Croatia handing it to USA Davis Cup. but not a suprise to Croats. we saw it coming. USA was just to cocky.

Definitely Serra in Bucarest. He had never passed the second round in an ATP-tournament before! It really was a win out of the blue.

But I agree with all the winners mentioned by Grinder (+ Monfils in Sopot and Moodie in Tokyo)

Moodie in Tokyo !!!

This was the first and will be the last time in my life that i bet money on Ancic :sobbing: ... although Moodie made me to win a lot of money against Nieminen ;)

Ancic , one of the most overrated players that i know :o

Actually, since Moodie has beaten Ancic previously, I was not at all surprise. Moodie also deserved the win after beating the people he did.

For me: Slovakia making DC finals :), Gasquet winning Nottingham :), Wawrinka making Gstaad finals, Serra wins Bucharest, Davydenko's rise into the Top 6 :), Tojo making a GS semifinal again :), Monfils winning Sopot, Bjorkman winning HCM, and Moodie winning Tokyo!

Moodie is a South African, I think the Aussie you are referring is his doubles partner who is stephen huss.

Davydenko's rise into the Top 6 :)

I posted about this earlier. His rise into the top 10 has been pretty astounding.

The three veterans Carlsen, Arthurs and Bjorkman winning in Memphis, Scottsdale and Ho Chi Minh City.

Serra's win in Bucharest and Moodie's in Tokyo.

I suppose Ginepri's win in Indianapolis was a bit surprising.

I didn't think Gasquet would win his first ever title on grass in Nottingham.

Slovakia or Croatia lifting the Davis Cup is possibly the biggest surprise.
