Very good game from Yvan. If he plays like that in final, he will be hard to beat.

Out of Acasuso Santoro Soderling Davydenko, only Santoro has broken his serve this week.

It's hard to believe this is the same Ivan Ljubicic that has never gotten past the third round of a major.

ever since the 2002AO, the 6-4 6-4 *5-1 40-15,...lost in 5. haunts him in GS every time.

majors, TMS count 2? few SF in those. one on clay

No, not really, some players play well in Slams and others don't.

Why? I don't think Monfils would stand a real chance against him even with the crowd or anything anyway...
But what would be great about a Ljubicic v Hrbaty final would be because of the perspective of the DC final coming, Slovakia v Croatia...I agree. ;)

Good to see you are awake Mr Seinfeld, plus you know I love the pigeon thread :)

Gael is at home and that will help him more so than it would Hrbaty.

No, not really, some players play well in Slams and others don't.It is surprising, especially for a top 20 player. Almost every player in the top 20 have at least gotten to the fourth round of a slam. The only other player besides Ljubicic in the top 20 that has never gotten to the fourth round of a slam is Radek Stepanek.

Stepanek has only been there recently and so has Ljubo, it happens there are players who play well in DC and Slams at times, but don't do much elsewhere.

This year Ljubicic has only played well during Davis Cup and a few optional events. He's done basically nothing in TMS evens and the majors. I think his best TMS result was a quarterfinal loss in Miami to Nadal.

Then you have players that are quite the opposite, like David Nalbandian. He pretty much just shows up during the majors and has made it to the quarters of the Australian, fourth round of the French, quarters of Wimbledon and quarters of the US Open.

I belive that Ivan will get over his GS bugaboo sooner or later. He has to sometime. A QF here or there at least. He's got too much game not too.
