Rest of the second round...

Voltchkov d. Zib - 6-7(7) 6-3 6-4

Agaev d. Rehnquist - 6-1 6-3

Dell'Acqua d. Hadad - 6-4 7-5

Ram d. Ascione - 4-6 6-4 7-5

Quarterfinals

Agaev d. Voltchkov - 6-4 4-2 (ret.)

Soderling d. Phau - 6-4 6-2

Ram d. Dell'Acqua - 7-5 6-4

Kratochvil d. Okun - 6-0 4-6 6-3.

I assume Voltchkov got hurt. Let's hope it's not too bad. I can't understand why he entered this tournament. He was entered in a bunch of international events coming up. With his ranking, it's not like he needs the points or the money.

I'm not going to post all the doubles results since I can't cut and paste from PDF. But it's an all Israeli final, with Andy Ram and Jonathan Ehrlich going up against Amir Hadad and Harel Levy.

It will be interesting to see how Andy and Jonathan's partnership evolves. They've picked up a sweet doubles ranking that should allow them entry into the ATP tournaments. But if they want singles careers, they still need to improve their rankings on the Challenger circuit. Based on recent performance, it looks like Andy is ready to boost his ranking up a few notches, while Jonathan needs a bit more work at the Futures level. It would be too bad if this breaks up the partnership. But doubles is like that, I suppose.

Also nice that it's an all Israeli final in Turkey, a Muslim country that has always had good relations with Israel.

Andy is indeed in great shape lately. Too bad he couldn't qualify in the US Open. Good luck to him vs Kratochvil :)

JPhurst - I think Andy always was a better singles player than Yoni. He (Andy) was ranked 150 or so but suffered from a long injury until recently. I don't think Erlich ever reached higher than #200.
