Quo vadis, Roger?

This is sad, Roger losing out in the first round (again!) in Toronto. I hope he'll ponder on this and work out to keep his play at an optimum level. Any suggestions, ideas, from anyone how he might improve his game? He was so brilliant in Hamburg that you'd think he can only get better...

Well I believe it's all in his head (besides that Canas must have had a great game as well...).

For me it seams, that he's no longer able to play free. He thinks to much. Tries so hard to play a great game, but the harder he tries the more UE he's making. And the more UE's he makes the less confidence he has. With no confidence it's kind of hard to play "free".

Just to bad that I don't have any clue how to break this circle.

Just hope Roger keeps trying. All of a sudden he'll play again like he used to and he won't know why, just as he doesn't know why he looses all these matches right now.

Lass den Kopf nicht hängen Roger!!
Good luck next week!!

Yeah, Daniel, where's everyone?

So, after Totonto he exits (once again!) in Cincinnati in the first round. News has it that he flew back to Switzerland, to chill out for a week, skipping DC. The break would definitely do him good...
Hope he had a good 21st birthday celebration.

Well he seams to come back slowely. But as soon as there's a bit more pressure on him, he blocks again....

....well that's how I see it. (I'm saying that without having seen his match against Max...)

But hopefully he'll be able to take out the good things from the matches he actually won!!

In every game there's pressure, and for all tennis pros there's pressure, on and off court, he just has to deal with it and handle it properly...then he's on his way. Yeah, i missed the live match too but with this rain i have an excuse to stay indoors and watch the replay on TSI.

Oh well, charge it to experience, eh? There's more tournaments coming...

Pssst Mrs. B
There might not be a replay as Roger played on a court with no TV cameras.......... otherwise SF DRS 2 would have shown his match but they appologised that they are simply not able to.....

oh, okey...:(

but knowing he lost perhaps it might be better not to have seen it...but i mean, a court without cameras at the USO for a Fed-Mirnyi match? Where did they put them?
tsktsk...these Amis sometimes... ;)

Well, Roger IS bouncing back after his lousy summer...making it to the 4th round of the USO, winning the Davis Cup tie against Morocco, quarters in Moscow against Marat...let's hope Vienna will be even better. One match at a time, Rogz...i'm sure you'll win another tournament pretty soon, when no one's expecting it...;)

Well Vienna draw doesn't look to bad. But match after match he has to play and hopefully a few more than he did in Moscow ;)

Goooo Roger goooo

Roger is definitely out of his slump, he's the winner in Vienna and rightfully deserved it playing his brilliant game with a touch of luck, the matchball was a shot that hit the net and went to the opponent's side...

6-4, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4

after his summer slump it's so good to see him end the season going to Shanghai with the best of them...what an accomplishment. And the best is yet to come. ;)

Well done, Roger!

:) My sentiments exactly, Mrs. B.!! We're so proud of him -- think of how PL, his family, Mirka and PC must feel now!! There was an article onHeinz Gunthardt's thoughts about Rogi:

November bekannt geben.

Sorry RF I'm running out of time otherwise I would have translated it for you.

Heinz Günthard just says it's a great accoplishment for Roger that he made the qualification for Shanghai in the last moment. He even can win the title there as he always played well indoors. About his not so good summer he says he only lost a few matches in a row. That can happen not that big of a deal.

Well wish you all a terrific weekend!! Keep cheering for Roger!! I'm getting prepared to reread 40 pages when I'm back monday ;-)

Now let's go Roger let's go!!
Give Hewitt a nice lesson!!
Allleeezzz Roger you can do it!!
Just fight fight fight!!!
Goooo for it!!!

:) Now that's impressive!! WOW!! ROGI, you are incredible! There's a pic of Rogi in Vienna in front of the big ferris wheel, and also when he won the tournament -- in my Fren tennis mag!! Do you realize the last time he played Moya was in the Semis in Vienna and he ran through him in straights 62 63?!!! Keep that in mind, everyone!! :D
