:yeah: Good first set from Roger, although his BH went a bit AWOL in the second.

Still, good showing from Murray. At least it wasn't a repeat of the DC match. ;)

Nice stuff from young andi!
He has great chances for the future

But it is tough to play first ATP final against a No.1 world player with so much more experience, and more talent. Hopp Roge ALLEZ!!!!

Well, I've never heard of either of the records you mentioned - in fact I don't even know what that DiMaggio's record means. He hit the ball in 56 consecutive games or something? :)

Karelin's dominance was incredible, and it went on for 13 years...

I'll give you a comparison:

During Tiger Wood's 142 consecutive cuts made streak, the second longest active streak was at... get this... 18.

As for Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak in baseball, anything over 25, is rare.

Both were incredible feats.

Just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't impressive, nor does it mean they aren't records from "REA"L athletes. I mean, how can you in one post say they aren't "REAL" athletes then admit in another that you had no idea about either record, nor did you have a clue about the sport DiMaggio played?

Yes he has arrive only one week ago from a time zone which is 6 hours behind. For me, it takes about 1 week until I can get into new time zone properly. I don't know how these players are doing it. andi has also come from the Swiss time zone to Thailand

Chloe, this one is not of high risk given Roger reached at least quarters in alll his tournies, it's pretty feasable. Who the helll will beat this guy at this stage. The only real chance is Rafael in Roland Garros or Rome or Monte-Carlo...

I said: "nor did you have a clue about the sport DiMaggio played?"

My point still stands.

You criticized a record without 1) having heard of it before and 2) having absolutely no idea what significance that records holds in baseball.

That? Is ignorant.

Which was my point all along, and now I've spelled it out.

Asked if he expected big things from Murray in the future, Federer said: "Absolutely. That was a very tough final today.

"I also lost my first final when I made it to the tour (against fellow Swiss Marc Rosset in Marseille in 2000). I lost 7-6 in the third set so that was also very hard.

"This will definitely be a good experience for Andy. He'll become a good player, I'm sure of that, and I wish him all the best." :)

Now if anyone complains that Roger used "good" instead of "great" I'll smack 'em.

"He's got a repertoire of shots, he has slice, and his volley is alright. He reads games well," said Federer. "He has potential to become a good player. Consistency is what's missing in his game, and he's not 100 percent sure of his game."

Well done Roger :) He really is incredible with all the records and streaks he is piling up :worship: Hopp!

Andy!! Well done on this week. A Scottish player in an ATP final?! That really did happen right? ;) I'm sure there will be plenty more finals ahead and he really played well in the second set. And his post-match comments were very remarkably free of arrogance and full of respect for Roger. Go figure.

Andy's game continues to improve. He's more talented than I had previously thought. He posses a great return game. If he can find a way to get that 1st serve % up consistently, he could be a real force.
