Central Districts have owned the SANFL the last few years and there's no reason to suggest why this won't happen again. They are lining up for their 6th Grand Final appearance and looking for their 5th flag in 6 years.

The Eagles finished second on the ladder, however, 3 of the last 5 SANFL Grand Finals, Centrals have rolled them. The Eagles havn't won a flag since 1993 and I can't see it happening today. Centrals own this team and own this team in Grand Finals aswell. They met 3 times this year, Centrals won 2 of those encounters.

Centrals all the way.

So my bet for the SANFL Grand Final.

Central Districts -23.5

Pound the living shit out of that. Centrals will roll.

I'm predicting Centrals by about 36 points.

Central Districts 3.3.21
Eagles 2.1.13

Goals

Central Districts: Schell, C.Gowans, McCabe
Eagles: Cicolella, Lomas

Central's started that quarter off in excellent fashion. Schell kicked a behind in the opening minute, then Chris Gowans got the Dogs first goal. At the 12 minute mark, Centrals kicked another goal through Schell and had a 14 point lead. At the 17 minute mark, the Eagles got their first goal through Justin Cicolella. 5 minutes later, Brodie Lomas snapped a goal for the Eagles to bring the margin to 3 points.

To Central's credit, Luke McCabe kicked a long goal for the Dogs straight after and the Central's take an 8 point lead at quarter time.

The second quarter began like the first, but with the Eagles dominating play.

Fergus Watts marked and goaled at the 3 minute mark to take the Eagles ahead by 4 points for the first time in the game. Six minutes later, Watts kicks his second goal and the Eagles have a 9 point lead. Dominating the play. Centrals were looking lost. When Brodie Lomas goaled for the Eagles at the 14 minute mark, things were looking dark for the Dogs. They were 17 points down.

However, from that point onwards, the momentum changed. Chris Gowans, Luke McCabe across the backline and Marco Bello brought the Dogs back into the game. Chris Gowan's goaled and then 3 minutes later, the hard work of Chris Gowans gave Marco Bello a goal and the margin was 5 points. Unfortunately, Justin Cicolella snapped another goal for the Eagles to bring the margin back to 11 points. The Dogs still had all the play thanks to the the trio of key players stepping up. Daniel Schell had a few attempts at goal and missed them all. Now we know why he didn't last on an AFL list. Not long after, Daniel Healy marks outside 50 and kicks a long goal and the margin is 4 points.

Near half time, 31 minutes gone, Heath Hopwood goals for the Dogs thanks to a pin-point pass from Chris Gowans and the Dogs take a 3 point lead heading into half time. It was a magnificent fightback from the Dogs in the last 10 minutes of that quarter after the Eagles dominated. That's why the Dogs have won 4 out of the last 5 premierships. They don't give in. Gowans, McCabe and Bello are solid and are clearly Dogs best players.

Half time

Centrals - 7.6.48
Eagles - 7.3.45

Goals
Centrals: C.Gowans 2 J.Gowans McCabe Bello Healy Hopwood
Eagles: Watts 2 Lomas 2 Cicolella 2 Inkster

Why am I nuts?
because you seem to lose too many bets as it is, and betting on something with a high number of variables like the SANFL is not advisable.

The third quarter started with some heated battles. A few blood rules and tough football. Both teams had chances to kick goals, however didn't make most of their oppurtunities. It was the 8th minute mark, which a team finally breaking through, the Eagles via Mark Passador, an excellent goal kicker and a top player. That goal gave them a 3 point lead and the next goal was the telling factor in the game.

It's a case of a classic football arm wrestle with the match going either way. Eagles had a chance to put on another goal via Fergus Watts, but he missed. Luke Cowan finally goaled for the Centrals at the 19 minute mark and Centrals looked to have the momentum once again. 2 point lead in an arm wrestle 3/4 way through the third quarter. It was a telling goal. Lomas missed a reasonably easy shot at goal and the margin was brought back to 1 point.

25 minute mark, Luke Cowan snapped another goal, giving him 2 telling goals in the last 5 minutes to give the Dogs a 7 point lead. 2 minutes later, James Gowan's goaled for the Dogs from 70 metres out and the margin was out to 13 and Centrals looked in control. Fergus Watts hit the post yet again soon after and the margin was back to 12. The Dogs had a chance to put the game away soon after because from the kick in, they got the play and made it to their forward line and Steinberner was running into an open goal and missed.

At 3/4 time, Centrals have the game controlled. To me, it looks like that Centrals will blow them away in the last and secure their 5th premiership in 6 years. Can't see the Centrals blowing the game from here. Their 5th premiership in 6 years should be about 30 minutes away.

3/4 time.

Centrals are definately about to secure their 5th premiership in 6 years. Their 4th over the Eagles in 6 years. Their other premiership of course coming against Westies in 2003 and their only loss, was to Sturt in 2002.

This team have dominated the SANFL since 2000. They're a team of champions. Lets enjoy the last 20 minutes of the game and see them win yet again.

26 points.

I'm concerned now about this margin. It could be over 9 goals. Eagles are tired.

Centrals started the fourth quarter off in excellent fashion in the first 42 seconds. Schnell then followed 8 minutes later. At the 10 minute mark Chris Gowan's goaled and gave them a 32 point lead. At this point in time the Eagles were looking tired and Centrals had all the legs. Central's then missed a few shots at goal and the margin was out to as much as 35 points. Paul Lindsay goaled for the Eagles at the 15 minute mark to reduce the margin back to 28 points. Schell kicked a goal from an assist from Gowan's and the score yet again went to 34 points.

Mark McKenzie finally goaled for the Eagles to reduce the margin to 28 points. The Eagles still had a sniff, but it was virtually impossible for them to snatch a win from here. Tim Inkster kicked another goal for the Eagles and at the 27 mark, they were down by 22 points and had a sniff at victory.

To the Dogs credit, they settled and Schell kicked his 4th. Siren went soon after and the Dogs won their 5th flag in 6 years by 28 points.

Luke McCabe, the former Hawthorn Hawk, playing 138 games, was Central's best and to his credit, was awarded the Jack Oatey medal for BOG.

About half a dozen of these players for the Dogs, probably won't play on next year. So we could be seeing the end of a fantastic team today. Fitting they win another flag. They deserved it. No one could match them.

Congratulations Central Districts Football Club
