Good luck to Robby in Japan. I am new here and I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I don't really know much about the way things are done here. Why is there what looks like a red flag by my name? And what is vCash? Any help any one can give me will be appreciated.

Éowyn
10-03-2005, 02:19 AM
the flag is where you said you live! it will appear as the flag for wherever you put as your country! you can change it in yoru profile! hence why mine is the croatian flag even though i live in england lol

vcash (virtual cash) is used for vbetting (virtual betting) and will eventually be to be buy things like name changes etc. if you click where it says vcash you will be taken to the vbookie (virtual bookie) where you can bet it on players to win and increase it!
it will also increase with posts :)

and welcome :) :wavey:

Hello Everyone. Thank you for all the information. I'm sorry to be such a bother just starting out in here. Somehow a mistake was made with no disrespect to the people who that flag belongs to and I have no idea who that is I am from the U.S. So I will correct that. And start to follow the Tournament in Japan. I do hope Robby can do well. He seems to get overshadowed by some of the other U.S.
players. I looked long and hard for a good Robby site which I think this one is.

Yes, you´re right. IMO Robby has got a nice draw, except for the fact that he has to face Gilles sooo early. :o He could make it to the semis here if he steps up his game. I´m still a little bit dissapointed about his loss against Andy the second, that´s why I´m happy that we have another tournament to look forward to. :yeah:

I don't know why, but I have a nervous feeling about Robby in Japan. I'll probably feel better once I see his name on the schedule. Perhaps I just wonder if he's still second guessing himself after the loss to Andy Murray last week.

The Star Forums messageboard used to be the only board that was linked on his official site. Try http://on.starblvd.net/meet/robbyginepri I usually just go to it from my JanMike board, so I don't really know what the url is, duh. No one's posted there in ages.

How are all of you following Robby while he is in Japan?

We find the tournament's official site, and they usually post players' info there and update it daily...sometimes scores for matches are even posted up-to-the-minute while they are happening... :) The site for the Japan Open is: http://www.jta-tennis.or.jp/aigopen/e/index.html

I know all of you are probably going to think I'm a big pain and wish I hadn't found your site. But I got the site for the Tournament, but the time of the matches is that the time in Japan? If so how do I know when Robby is playing? BTW I live in the Eastern part of the U.S. so I'm on Eastern Time
actually what we call Daylight Saving Time right now. If this message hasn't totally confused you, I hope you can help me. I'm sorry I'm so much trouble

You have to look under "current tournaments". There you´ll see "AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships". You have to click on it and there will be a thread called "Friday OOP & scores". That´s where you can follow the matches. I hope I was able to help you.

that is a very disappointing result! he shouldnt be losing to players like murray and phau :(

Robby damns himself to Hell sometimes, I hate when he does that!...once he loses his confidence, it's over for him...he can't seem to focus on making the shots and serving the aces that he is capable of...

He needs to quit getting into an emotional zone when he is down...He needs to concentrate and believe in himself...

Éowyn
10-07-2005, 05:24 AM
i don't think his problem is that he gets himself down at all! usually his problem is he puts too much pressure on himself thats what happned the first time his ranking was nice and high. he started thinking things were easy and knew he was expected to win and he let it get to him  i do think it's a pitiful result and i'm disappointed but that being said he's never been his best at this time off year! and he's defended the points he's going to lose on sunday! i'm more disapppointed that he isn't playing anywhere next week :(

idolwatcher1

well, this is related to what I was saying...When Robby gets into that "emotional zone", he is letting things get to him, this includes pressure...When he starts to feel that the momentum isn't going his way and that he might soon lose the match, he wants to throw his racquet down...he gets emotional to the point that it hinders his game and often gives more confidence to his opponent!...This is the opposite of what he should be doing...He needs to pour all of his concentration into his game (serving the aces, controlling the ball and playing the winners) and NOT on anything else...

Fee
10-07-2005, 05:54 AM
Well none of us were there so we have no idea what happened. Phau lost to Scoville Jenkins at the Aptos Challenger in July, the ATP is odd at times.

Its possible that Robby just doesn't travel well. He's played two weeks in two Asian countries and it could be a little bit of culture shock, or lack of adjustment to the food or anything else. It's true he's never done really well after the USO, so any matches he wins at this time are kind of a bonus at this point. Perhaps he'll come home for a few days then head over to Europe and finish out the season really strong.

idolwatcher1
10-07-2005, 06:03 AM
Fee, I agree, it is possible that Robby doesn't travel as well as others...hopefully, Robby will take his two recent Asian experiences and be able to learn from them and become better adjusted the next time he plays there...I also hope he sees his sports psychologist again...After he won against Muller, he admitted that he didn't feel his strongest...I'm sure he will only echo this comment after today's match...

bavaria100

Robby :smash: Another blown chance to make it to a final. :o I can´t believe it that he lost to Phau, even though he seems to play the tourney of his life (right now, I wouldn´t be surprised if he beats Mario tomorrow). I think Robby is mentally exhausted after his great american summer hardcourt run and his 4 5-setters at the US Open. I think that took very much out of him.

16681
10-07-2005, 12:59 PM
May be Robby was being kind. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm so tired after last night that I can barely keep my eyes open  I think Robby just needs a chance to rest and settle down some. So I am glad he will

to be honest i don't think he would have made the final! i think mario would have taken him out, but he shoudl have made the semi

16681
10-08-2005, 12:27 AM
I thought at the U.S. Open Robby had found the balance between enough pressure to make himself play hard and well, but not too much pressure that would just make him nervous and uptight. But if he had found the balance I think he has since loss it. I hope he can get it back.

Éowyn
10-08-2005, 01:08 AM
i wouldn't say that! see at the uso there was really no pressure on robby! he was unseeded the last 2 tournaments he has been a major seed, theers also been alot of adjustments for him to make and lets face it befor eteh uso getting to a quarter-final would have been a greta reuslt! i'm still disappointed but i'm also proud of him for kepping the good run up

16681
10-08-2005, 02:03 AM
Yes I see your point. I hadn't thought of the fact that Robby was used to being unseeded and now he has been in Tournaments where he is seeded. That would put him in a different frame of mind I'm sure. I do proof read these posts before I enter them and I still come up with mistakes in them

Yes I see your point. I hadn't thought of the fact that Robby was used to being unseeded and now he has been in Tournaments where he is seeded. That would put him in a different frame of mind I'm sure. I do proof read these posts before I enter them and I still come up with mistakes in them :confused:Your posts are perfectly intelligible, no worries. I don't read your posts and think "oh, this person has no grasp on the english language and sounds like she's 12." :p:)
