I can not wait for the ceremony! Does anyone know what time it will be? Unfortunately, Monday is the first day of classes :(

I'm so f*ck*d up about this. Ofcourse it was obvious all along but I'd rather that he never told anyone and just went into oblivion than that he's actually making it official. No, it hurts too much! Did Borg ever make it public that he was quitting? Or did he just walk away, never to come back? Pete should've done that. This ceremony, it'll just break my (and everyone else's) heart and Pete never really came off as a spotlight kinda guy anyway. In any event, Sweet Pete, you're a world class guy in every which way imaginable and you'll be sorely missed... :hatoff:

Don't you just love how that Greenday song can be used over and over again? ...

"Another turning point
A fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist
Directs you where to go
So make the best of this test
And don't ask why
It's not a question
But a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life

So take the photographs
And still-frames in your mind
Hang them on a shelf
Of good health and good times
Tattoos of memories
And dead skin on trial
For what it's worth
It was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life"

It's not very original, but I was very happy that french tv did a report about new life's Pete in L.A, in the show "stade 2".

i also cried when i watched the ceremony, angiel, honestly i also love and miss pete a lot but after thinking deeply, i prefer pete not to come out any more, his body is weared off by playing tennis for so many years, he is also getting a bit old ..... i think he would prefer to remember his last match = 2002 final, in glory so as a fans, although i miss him so much, i would prefer him not to come back any more :)

pete deserves to live a new life, no more practise, no more injuries :wavey:

I posted this on Rogi's forum, but the bottomline on it is still a Pete-statement. Take a look!

Dirk, you will love this

I don't know how to post movies, but this is a really nice "movie" that Jim Courier gives a talk-over on.

Go to: http://www.nbcolympics.com/tennis/index.html

and click on " NBC's Jim Courier offers an in-depth comparison."

Thank you mitalidas I enjoy listening to that and yes I agree with Courier, but only on certain points, but the bottom line is Pete is the best and Roger still have a longer way to before he even can be call the next Pete Sampras,as he said we have to check back in the years to come, know what I like about Courier analyse Pete did'nt even need his skills to win, just his mental strengths.

you're welcome, angiel. I'm a fellow Pete-lover. I feel fortunate that Roger came along when he did, because I almost stopped following tennis when Pete left ....

I know how you feel Mitalidas,,it is the same for all of us who love Pete,my heart is still broken,I dont even watch tennis that much again on TV I just check-out updates about the game,I just hoping that his son Christian will want to play tennis,do you know that some bookmakers in England have bets on him winning WIMBLEDON since he was born? Less than a week after he was born, British bookmakers are offering odds on him winning the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

William Hill rates Christian Charles Sampras a 150-1 chance to add to his father's seven singles titles at the All England Club. He's 2000-1 to beat Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf's son Jaden in a Wimbledon Final

This is what they have to say about Christian, and I quote -"Nobody gets a better genetic chance at Wimbledon than Pete Sampras' kids," William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe said. This is a clipping of a newspaper article a couple of days after his birth.

And what is even more intertesting, his odds of winning Wimbledon 150-1 was the same odds given to players at Wimbledon in 2002,David Nalbandian was one of those players and he was runners-up that year, this boy is just 20-month-old.
