I don't think he will face serious opposition in qualifying. Qualifyer: Wesley Moodie. Soderling section: There are some names that could make life difficult for Robin, like Brzezicki (runner-up in a challenger a few weeks ago), Galvani and young Lapentti. I go with - Qualifyer: Giovanni Lapentti. Browne section: Don't know much about #3, but I have a feeling the qualifyer will come from the Roitman vs. Larkham match (two of my favs :( ). Qualifyer: Todd Larkham. Thomann section: Nico is in good shape. I think opposition will come from Benneteau and Pescosolido. Qialfyer: Nicholas Thomann. Karlovic section: As the potato and all Croations on borad can testify, Ivo is in great shape. I think Bachelot can give him a hard time and hope very much for Dudi Sela too... Qualifyer: Ivo Karlovic. Norman section: Haven't seen much of Norman since Wimby and his great run in Queens. Interesting match there between Baghdatis and Tipsarevic. Qualifyer: Hmmmm, Tipsarevic. Mahut section: Mahut should be able to qualify from here. Kunitsyn is in a slump, so is Hadad and Italians have been waiting for Starace to breakthough for quite some time. Qualifyer: Nicolas Mahut Ascione section (Lots of French seeded in qualifyers): I actually would be surpised to see #8 win in the first round. Dancevic can be quite dangerous. Same goes with Rajeev Ram and Vacek. Qualifyer: Rajeev Ram (wild wild bet). Berdych section: Interesting match for him in 1st round, altough he's in great shape (won challenger or was a runner-up last week). Kwon can be good but will probably be too excited. I actually think the qualifyer will be the experienced Qualifyer: Tomas Zib Verdasco section: Well, Verdasco is in really good shape, after winning nice matches in Long Island and other places. All other possible candidates in his section (Sa, Bastl and Jeff) are in some slump. This is quite a obvious one, then. Qualifyer: Fernando Verdasco. Waske section: Andrew Ilie trys anothe comeback, Noam Okun is in good shape but the not-so-obvious choice goes to Qualifyer: Thomas Enqvist. (Enqvist #26 in qualifying :( ) Van Scheppingen section: I actually think Gilles Muller will finally make some noise here. Look out for Iwabuchi too. Still the Dutchman should prevail. Qualifyer: Dennis van Scheppingen Galimberti section: IMO winner of the match between him and Andy Ram will go all the way. Qualifyer: Andy Ram :) Rosset section: Veteran Marc shouldn't have a problem vs. Kim. Gamonal or Levy could prove more difficult. Qualifyer: Hmmm, Levy? Mamiit section: Tough section to predict there. Mamiit is doing not bad lately but so is Joachim. I think Elseneer will still be the last one standing. Qualifyer: Gilles Elseneer Heuberger section: The last section is of high quality. Ivo did well in Wimby and so did Suzuki. Delgado has been very quiet. Qualifyer: Ivo Heuberger. dagmar7 08-19-2003, 12:33 PM Thanks for the link, typed version of the draw and analysis.:) Best of luck to: Giovanni Lapentti :) Joachim Johansson :) Frank Dancevic :D :D Reasonable draw for Frank...this is a good chance for him to qualify.:D :bounce: Scotso 08-19-2003, 01:18 PM good luck: Giovanni Lapentti :D Michael Llodra Nicolas Thomann Julien Benneteau Jean-Francois Bachelot :D Paul Goldstein Nicolas Mahut Frank Dancevic Frederic Niemeyer :D Gilles Muller Julien Varlet Philipp Kohlschreiber :D Joachim Johansson TheBoiledEgg 08-19-2003, 01:45 PM good luck Thomas Enqvist :) just qualify man :) Dmitry Tursunov :) maratski 08-19-2003, 02:02 PM Go Thomas Weird to see him in qualies of a slam Darran 08-19-2003, 03:36 PM Good luck: Arvind Parmar (hard draw :( ) Martin Lee Thomas Enqvist  DeadRubber 08-19-2003, 06:21 PM Arvind Go beat the Dick :) (Could have had a lot easier 1st round match) Good luck Martin :) Catriel 08-20-2003, 01:35 PM Wesley Moodie RSA (1) vs. Frantisek Cermak CZE Markus Hipfl AUT vs. Jan Hajek CZE Todd Widom USA vs. Zack Fleishman USA Louis Vosloo RSA vs. Peter Luczak AUS (30) Robin Soderling SWE (2) vs. Alun Jones AUS Juan Pablo Brzezicki ARG vs. Rodolphe Cadart FRA Daniel Koellerer AUT vs. Stefano Galvani ITA Slimane Saoudi FRA vs. Giovanni Lapentti ECU (21) Federico Browne ARG (3) vs. Jean-Julien Rojer AHO Ignacio Gonzalez King ARG vs. Maximilian Abel GER Andreas Seppi ITA vs. Michael Llodra FRA Sergio Roitman ARG vs. Todd Larkham AUS (20) Nicolas Thomann FRA (4) vs. Paul Baccanello AUS Dusan Vemic SER vs. Julien Benneteau FRA Mariano Delfino ARG vs. Oliver Marach AUT Sebastian Prieto ARG vs. Stefano Pescosolido ITA (24) Ivo Karlovic CRO (5) vs. Takahiro Terachi JPN Jean-Francois Bachelot FRA vs. Michal Mertinak SVK Dudi Sela ISR vs. Tasuku Iwami JPN Thomas Blake USA vs.Paul Goldstein USA (28) Dick Norman BEL (6) vs.Arvind Parmar GBR Bjorn Rehnquist SWE vs. Jack Brasington USA Vadim Kutsenko vs. Matias Boeker USA Marcos Baghdatis CYP vs. Janko Tipsarevic SER (19) Nicolas Mahut FRA (7) vs. Joseph Sirianni AUS KJ Hippensteel USA vs. Amir Hadad ISR Potito Starace ITA vs. Marcos Daniel BRA Lovro Zovko CRO vs. Igor Kunitsyn RUS (25) Thierry Ascione FRA (8) vs. Frank Dancevic CAN Vincenzo Santopadre ITA vs. Kean Feeder USA Andres Dellatorre ARG vs. Rajeev Ram USA Petr Luxa CZE vs. Jan Vacek CZE (32) Tomas Berdych CZE (9) vs. Chris Kwon USA Tuomas Ketola FIN vs. Jan Hernych CZE Bobby Reynolds USA vs. Tomas Zib CZE Roko Karanusic CRO vs. Jiri Vanek CZE (23) Fernando Verdasco ESP (10) vs. Andre Sa BRA Marcello Craca GER vs. Alexandre Simoni BRA Yen-Hsun Lu TPE vs. George Bastl SUI Frederic Niemeyer CAN vs. Jeff Salzenstein USA (17) Alexander Waske GER (11) vs. Andrew Ilie AUS Ignacio Hirigoyen ARG vs. Michael Kohlmann GER Noam Okun ISR vs. Gaston Etlis ARG Pavel Snobel CZE vs. Thomas Enqvist SWE (26) Dennis van Scheppingen NED (12) vs. Satoshi Iwabuchi JPN Dmitry Tursunov RUS vs. David Prinosil GER Daniele Bracciali ITA vs. Gilles Muller LUX Martin Lee GBR vs. Julien Varlet FRA (22) Giorgio Galimberti ITA (13) vs. Andy Ram ISR Massimo Dell'Acqua vs. Petr Kralert CZE Michal Tabara CZE vs. Jan Frode Andersen NOR Florent Serra vs. Eric Taino USA (18) Marc Rosset SUI (14) vs. Kevin Kim USA Cristiano Caratti ITA vs. Peter Clarke IRL Philipp Kohlschreiber GER vs. Leonardo Azzaro ITA Harel Levy ISR vs. Hermes Gamonal CHI (31) Cecil Mamiit USA (15) vs. Joachim Johansson SWE Danai Udomchoke THA vs. Gouichi Motomura JPN Robin Vik CZE vs. Yves Allegro SUI Ricardo Mello BRA vs. Gilles Elseneer BEL (27) Ivo Heuberger SUI (16) vs. Julian Knowle AUT Takao Suzuki JPN vs. Michael Joyce USA Bjorn Phau GER vs. Fred Hemmes Jr. NED Jamil Al-Agba USA vs. Ramon Delgado PAR (29) Yoel etc. 08-24-2003, 10:02 AM Time to see where was I right and where not at all :p : Moodie section: Got that one right, Moodie qualifyed. Wasn't a wild guess there. :) Soderling section: Kudos to Robin for qualifying. Didn't think he'll make it. :( Browne section: Ouch - who would have thought Abel could pull through such a performance? :( Thomann section: I said Thomann, but also said Benneteau will be dangerous. Benneteau prevailed. :( Karlovic section: Ivo (and me) got that one big time. Nice run for Dudi Sela, though. :) Norman section: Woohooo, I said Tipsarevic and we got Tipsarevic, even if had to work hard vs. Baghaditis. :) Mahut section: Mahut got that one and so did I. :) Ascione section: I though in a wild guess - Rajeev Ram but Vacek was the chosen one. :( Berdych section: Pleasant disappointment here from Roko Karanusic. Bad miss by me :( . Berdych got a LL. Verdasco section: Verdasco blew that one away (but got a LL). Didn't think Salzenstein in a good shape :( Waske section: Of course, Enquist won that one and even got a good draw in MD. :) Van Scheppingen section: pffff, bad bad miss. Tursanov caught me by surprise (I thought Muller). :( Galimberti section: I said the winner of his match vs. Andy Ram will qualify and was right. Andy almost won but Galimberti came through. :( Rosset section: Kohlschreiber ? Who is Kohlschreiber ?. I said Levy - bitter disappointment. :( Mamiit section: I said it will be tough and thought Elseneer will get it, but Joachim showed good signs and won 3 tough matches. Happy for him, unhappy for me. :( Heuberger section: Blew that one too. Delgado's experience paid off at the end (I said Ivo). :( ------------------------- The bottom line - 11 misses, 5 hits and 1 miss that got a LL. dagmar7 08-24-2003, 02:24 PM Time to see where was I right and where not at all :p : .... ------------------------- The bottom line - 11 misses, 5 hits and 1 miss that got a LL. Not a bad job at all...men's tennis is difficult to predict in most cases, and this qualifying draw was almost impossible to prognosticate.:) I'm glad to see Verdasco get a ll, but I was shocked by how easily he apparently lost the match against Salzenstein. I hope it was just a bad day or whatever... Vacek *sighs* That could have been you Frank Dancevic...:( Up a break twice in that second set... | |
