I find Andy serving too big for a claycourt match.......he hould work on angles and construct easy points that way but anyway as long as he wins :yeah: :)

It's going to be tough, though but...allez, Rochus! Komaan, Olivier! Come on, Ollie! :)

Andy is serving ace after ace now  . 5 aces i 3rd set tiebreak and 3 in his first game of 4th set  and it's on clay
What's the record number of aces on clay ?

amierin

Andy might be serving aces but the match is still close. Does Olivier Rochus look like his brother BTW?

And does no one in the States have the ability to teach clay court play?

Yes, you can see that they are related

I'm proud of Olivier...28 aces and all that power against him and the match is still close. :yeah:

I'm sure there are those with the ability to teach clay in the US, but so much emphasis is placed on Hardcourt then grass.

I think every country has it's emphasis. I can say, can no one in Argentina teach grass? I'm sure there is, but their emphasis is clay.

Mangoes I agree. But going forward all everyone is going to do is make us play clay. I think Federer is leading the charge to become an all court player and Nadal is looking to do the same. I just hate to see us get left in the, uh, dust. :)

I know that Andy fired 37 aces on clay at FO 2001 against Chang but i don't know if anybody has done anybetter on clay

Ollie is a very good player. It's not all about Andy being bad on clay.

Dirk
09-25-2005, 03:14 PM
I think it's also Andy since he is bad on clay takes more time to adapt to it then Ollie. Ollie is good for sure but you don't see him contending for clay titles. Of course not having the home crowd is another factor.

Watch all the "Andy sucks on clay" experts disappear now. See you in the arse-clown finals, Dirk.

Ollie is one tough cookie. I knew this match would be difficult. Andy's numbers were terrible too but I'm pleased to see him scrape his way through another win. He's still got a lot of heart left, even after having such a crummy year. :)

Congrats Andy but that point at 2-3 seriously, if you're just a lil' fairplay you'll give that point to Belgium. But they didn't I'm sorry but that just isn't right. But hey whatcha gonna do about it, Ollie amazing weekend and again congrats to the Americans.

Can someone please explain to me what happened on the bp at 3-2 final set? Rochus hits a smash well in, and after a lot of discussion the umpire suddenly says:'game USA'. This weird decision just decided the entire match...

Well unfortunately it's the damned truth, and the Team USA, as well as the ITF officials, should be ashamed of this! We will never know if Andy would have won fair and square, because he didn't!

Well actually, it isn't. You could even see on the faces of Andy and Pat that they knew it was in and they were talking about it on whether they would still give the point or not I think. Guess they choose for the second one :yeah:

A good win for Andy that was also very important for his confidence. Sadly, i could not see any of the matches in this tie. Team USA has a long way to go to win Davis Cup next year. It seems that every team that i can think of would make U.S. play on clay for the ties away. That should provide enough incentive for all U.S. players to improve on clay.

belgium got cheated very very very very very badly. i am an american, and i felt sorry for olivier. that official is awful.
roddick should have given the point to olivier. every shot olivier hit during that point was blatantly in. worst call i've ever seen. worst than the one against serena williams at the US open. (against capriati, a couple years ago).

mj_mj88
09-26-2005, 01:58 PM
one more thing... roddick has given points back before..... i think it was the pressure of playing for his country.... playing for his teammates, not just himself.... to take such an important point like that. either way, that call really ruined a great match.
