i am pretty new to ebay. to me that price is unbelievable...

ebay link (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ROGER-FEDERER-HAND-SIGNED-8-x-10-TENNIS-PHOTO_W0QQitemZ5241005906QQcategoryZ1226QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem)

btw the player is roger federer ;) well!! he isn't dead, hasn't retired, is still able to sign a lot more autographs... what's more, the seller can print a few more of this very same photo, and depends on how the signing process works, can quite easily get it signed again.

Hi Via

The seller cannot print off many more copies of that particular picture.... - as its my picture.... I do know the person that has put the pic on ebay.

Lucky person must have met Roger.... - the picture was "naked" when I had it ;) - I guess I am also confirming the authenticity of the photograph :) -

If I am not mistaken, Roger spreads out autographed pics over his official website...

I don't care about autographs but isn't the point of taking them to later look at it like a souvenir and remember "oh yeah, I met Federer or whoever and he took time to sign me this thing"? But if you buy it, it's quite pointless.

Every person is different. Here's a strange thought! - lots of people cannot understand people that love tennis.

Autograph collecting is a big deal to some people.. Leave them alone to enjoy their hobbies - like you enjoy following tennis.

i don't know, but if you pay for a signed photo, you are a jerk.

maybe... but think about it... here is a scenario.... someone lives somewhere in a different country where he or she cannot get to see their heroes, they follow their hero (be the hero an actor, sports personality, or other famous celebrity) - they see a chance to purchase an autograph of their hero on a good quality photograph or framed memorabilia - this item could make this person's life happier.

Look outside the box - people want different things to other people, and people look at things differently.

Maybe I am an outside the box person... half-full not half-empty - silver line searcher, people have hobbies, just let people enjoy them...

just for the record - I do NOT sell autographs, but I do enjoy collecting them.... - and also just for the record, I have had many chats with players (Gaston Gaudio, Xavier Malisse, Guillermo Coria, Mariano Zabaleta, Carlos Moya, James Blake to name just 5, and I have found that some Players often get a sense of pride when they see a 10x8 photograph of themselves to sign, 9 times out of 10 of them take time to sign it perfectly (artistically even) and ask questions - where was this? who took it? I will have to give you my special autograph now (with a smile). My favourite autograph was from Carlos Moya - http://www.sportfiles.com/photogallery/moya/DC03-02-27.jpg this photograph. He was so proud of the photograph - his whole team studied it - I had a spare copy... which is now in Carlos' proud possession.

hehe louise... i had no idea it's your photo, but it isn't the quality of the photo that i have doubts about! ;) :yeah:

i do not object to buying photos or signed photos for collection either. in fact i'm hunting for one myself. but not of a tennis player, or even someone who's alive lol

however.. on such an ebay auction, there's no guarantee that the seller is someone of your integrity... there are sellers who obviously reprint the same photo over and over again, and i don't think any ebay reputation is gonna guarantee that won't happen, or that a 'certificate of authenticity' necessarily proves that the celebrity concerned really did sign on it. now, if someone truly loves the photo, and wants to pay for a dream regardless, that's fine... but it won't be worth as much for resale value. for me, it isn't worth collecting if i can't be sure of its authenticity or uniqueness. let alone for that much money

interesting story you've told about the players' reaction! i have been planning to do something similar for arnaud clement next year ;) he likes to ask all sorts of questions anyway even when i showed him a 4x6 photo :p and he likes to take care with his autographs. it depends on the person i think.

Hi Via

Shame on me!!! I forgot to add Arnaud to the list.... bad me bad me bad me...... bad bad bad bad me.... I admit my list could be quite long and boring.... but I should have added Arnaud to my previous post - in Gastons place even....

I prefer spending my money on other things, buying autographed pictures on Ebay is a waste of money. I would rather like to get my own photo of a player signed because that's really something to cherish.
