what about the qualies? does anybody have an idea who could play?A good place to start is the alternate list in smucav's first post and also just at the Entry Ranking below the cutoff. It's an AMS tourney so most players in the ranking usually try to qualify :)

Funny thing is - despite all these rumours of withdrawals - nothing seems to have been officially updated about it anywhere at all yet. Normally, by now - there are loads of up-dated withdrawal and qualifier lists this close to a tournament - but this one has nothing  Maybe they'll all turn up after all!

Nadal and Federer will not play IN paris....nadal said that he want to rest, because his knees with same pain, and his first aid is to win Shangai.
Federer said that he will TRY to go to shangai, so Paris i think that is so improbable.

Are any of these assumptions official? It seems they are leaving it very late to annpunce their participation. I have heard similar things myself with Lleyton most probably missing Paris also. Federer and Nadal have TOTALLY dominated the masters series events this year so it would actually be nice to see someone else lift the crystal in Paris.

I would assume that the players not participating have already decided and told the relevant parties, but the Paris event won't publicise the withdrawals until the very last minute for fear of losing advance ticket sales. Like it or not,a tournament without Federer, Nadal, Agassi, Moya and Hewitt etc will be seriously devalued.

just read this on the website.

26/10 - 19h10
Paris-Bercy in brief

New withdrawals, new main draw entrances and Amélie Mauresmo to carry out the draw: get the latest news from Paris-Bercy.

The 20th BNP Paribas Masters tournament, which begins on Saturday 29th October on the courts of the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, has suffered five new withdrawals. They are the Swiss Roger Federer (torn right ankle ligament), Spain’s Rafael Nadal (tendonitis of the knee), the Russian Marat Safin (tendonitis of the knee), the American Andre Agassi (personal reasons), and the Spaniard Carlos Moya (injured right shoulder).

These withdrawals mean that Filippo Volandri (ITA), Gael Monfils (FRA), Davide Sanguinetti (ITA), Nicolas Massu (CHI) and Andrei Pavel (ROM) will now be included in the main draw for the BNP Paribas Masters 2005.

The Australian Lleyton Hewitt, meanwhile, has still not confirmed his participation to the organisers.

From the French perspective, Gael Monfils now joins Sebastien Grosjean in the main draw for the Parisian autumn tournament. Their numbers should soon be swelled by other French players benefiting from wildcards (due to be announced very shortly), while in the event of any further withdrawals, the next in line for entry to the tournament proper is Paul-Henri Mathieu.

Amelie Mauresmo to perform draw

French number one Amelie Mauresmo, currently taking it easy after a particularly packed season, is to carry out the draw for the BNP Paribas Masters 2005.

She will do so in the presence of the Chairman of the French Tennis Federation, Christian Bîmes, and Baudouin Prot, the BNP Paribas Chairman, on Friday 28th October at 18:00.

That's what the ATP gets for having too long of a season.

Players injured, and the guys who are playing are at the end of their rope and just want to go home.

What a shame...

So Llleyton Hewitt will have played in a total of
THREE Masters Series out of Nine this Year!!!

and in one of them he Retired after seven Games

In all fairness, he couldn't keep any food down in Montreal and it was pretty stupid that he played the seven games he did, he should have withdrawn as he was playing against doctor's orders. :retard:

All these "injuries", knocking up his gf, getting sued (has he settled his suit against the ATP yet as well?), acting like an ass at DC QFs vs Argentina, getting married, having huge rows with his susposed best friend, where was the time to play the Master Series events? :o

 But he's still in the Top 5, so now what does that say about the ATP tour? :p

I didn't know about Igor that's terrible.

But the players that are trying to make it up in the rankings tend to make the mistake of playing every week, and that's too much. They put sooo much effort into getting near the top that mentally/physically its too much after awhile.

I know that definitely happened to my Nico, and he's really paying the price for it this year.
