I would love it if he did, but I'm doubtful he ever will. I just hope he wins RG sometime in his career...

Yes, I agree with BG and the others. Perhaps we should have a rule that forbids the posting of articles that quote anything that Pat Cash says, ever.

Yes he is, didnt he say Hewitt was going to win wimbledon '05? As well that he would take control of his h2h versus Federer? So much for credibility?

I am still a great fan of Hewitt but Cash is really full of it.

I don't think it's possible, but what would be already extraordinary for Roger is to detain all 4 slams, by winning AO et RG next year. And that is definitely not that far fetched.

That tirade he went on at the beginning of 2004 accusing Roger's gf of wrecking his career was disgusting. Loser.

First off let me say, it's not impossible people, Federer can do it, it's a small small chance but he does have a chance. I don't think he will though, Nadal is very good on clay and I think it will take a lot of time for Federer to figure him out (if he does), but really, Federer almost had 3 again this year so who knows. He has a tiny chance, but don't put money on it! But whoever says it's impossible for him isn't telling the truth!

He could be right, but would Roger be fully fit for Wimbledon if he went all the way and won RG?

What did he say to make fun of Roger and Mirka in 2004? I never heard about that.

I think he would be. It would depend on what kind of draw he had in RG and whether he had any dog fight matches or just cruised through. In any case if he had the chance to win RG he wouldn't pass that up. As for Wimby....that usually doesn't require as much running for Roger any way.

I don't think that will happen ever again in the men's game... but you never know.

When Laver had his grand slams the surfaces were only grass or clay. The fact the surfaces are more varied with more specialized players for each makes it tougher today. I'd be interested to know what other tournaments Laver won those years, and how much traveling he had to do etc. It's hard for me to believe that back then the tour was as packed as it is today.

For that matter when they speak of the few ATP players who have had a career Grand Slam.....I wonder if Agassi was the only one to achieve it on all 4 surfaces? The other men Budge, Laver, Perry, Emerson had there grand slams either 1969 or earlier. It seems to me this makes Agassi accomplishment even more note worthy.

Well he got to the semis at RG this year and won Wimbledon OK. The difference between playing a semi final at RG and then playing Wimbledon and playing the final at RG and playing Wimbledon is only one match. I don't think one extra match at RG this year would have made him unfit for Wimbledon so I don't think that's a worry.

Right. Especially since grass is his best surface. Like I said though, it can make a difference if he were to get some particularly tough draw in one or the other or both that would take him to some 5 setters.

I would have to wonder if trying to defend all of his titles will be taking a tole. If he HAS to defend those in order to stay #1 that could have an effect as well.

i fully expect roger to win the australian (make up for the mistake of 05), and the go for the "roger" slam at the french which may inspire him to make a great run there...after that wimbledon would be a possibility, but i think the us open could certainly trip him up, ultimately i expect roger to win 2 majors next year...australia and wimbledon and maybe he'll win a 3rd, but i don't foresee a GS next year, although i'd love to have one in my lifetime (i was only 4 when steffi did it)

I hope he does, it would be nice for him to have won every single grand slam. I don't know if he will, with the likes of nadal reigning supreme on the clay.

Rafa = Fed Killa
09-18-2005, 09:03 PM
If Nadal is upset at the RG then yes, if he has to face Nadal on clay then no chance at the Grand Slam.

R.Federer
09-18-2005, 09:09 PM
If rafa had not come up like he has done this year, I will give some reasonable chance to this prediction. But it is a very strong prediction. We have seen this year how a few points can stop someone just in one major. So many things, health, other player's health, draw, weather, peaking, goes to win the slam. I wish the best for Roge, but i also hope that so much presure from persons like pat cash does not trouble him.

Nie to see pat say something positive about roger for once after that stuff he was abusing him with at the 04 AO (mirka, firing lundgren etc) wasnt that the same event where he also slammed Philippoussis about his relationship with Delta goodrem :tape:

Pat Cash needs to be stopped. He's so ridiculous. Nothing of worth has come out of his mouth in years, and he has developed a huge case of "foot in mouth" disease. I remember reading a Fed interview where he said, quite nicely, that he wasn't going to be talking about anything Pat Cash said. And I was glad. The less attention that clown gets, the better.

GIVE THE GUY A BREAK!!!!

I remember him quoting at the Seniors Tour at the end of 02 at the Albert Hall watch out for a kid called Nadal he will be a force within the next few years!!!

You all seem to write this prediction off so lightly as if it is impossible!!!!

Come on guys Federer got to the SF off all Grand Slams last year, it is far from impossible, he has said he is going for RG big time next year, and with Wimby in the bag barring a miracle, it's not that unlikely.

In 1969 Laver won 17 singles titles from 32 tournamentst that he played in - for a very impressive 106-16 match record. So his schedule was intense to say the least and he played quite a bit of doubles as well. His travels were similar to today's including Australia, South Africa, Europe and USA.

As for Agassi being the only player to win on all 4 surfaces, it was a bit difficult for those playing prior to 78 as they didn't get to play a Slam on hardcourts. So it's an incredible achievement for Agassi but shouldn't disadvantage the players from the past in regards to this.

I think he can win a Roger Slam, but not the Grand Slam, that would be too difficult, even for Roger. And yes it is true, Pat Cash is full of bs.
