I really enjoyed almost all of the men's slam finals so I'll have to make up a ranking:

1. US Open 2005
2. French Open 2005
3. Wimbledon
4. Australian Open

1. no need to question why, it's just federer and andre and great players and great tennis.
2. for me, this edges out wimbledon because there was good tennis played here and i like the players in this
3. wimbledon. i enjoy a thrashing andy moment courtesy of roger, but this is no.3 because though roger got to show off and put on an exhibition, a match is still a match.
4. i don't care for this one. both men's and women's finals had styles and people i didn't like.

1) French Open - Mariano Puerta put up a hell of a good fight against Nadal. I don't remember the level of play by either player fluctuating by that much, unlike...
2) US Open - Federer was way up and way down, but up at the right moments. If anything, the match was wildly dramatic as at one point I actually thought the match was Agassi's for the taking. Great fightback from the Fed man.
3) Wimbledon - Federer's terrific play. Totally outclassed Roddick. Cemented Ninja as the king of grass.
4) Australian - Thrilled Safin won, but not too excited by Hewitt being in a big final these days, as he's usually likely to lose.

Federer-Agassi USO final was my favorite because it had all the elements of a great match: high-level playing from both players; an enthusiastic crowd that give it great atmosphere; match had a sense of urgency (He must win! It could be his last chance!), danger (Andre just won a set! Will he end Roger's run?), and was a potential history-maker (re: is already a classic). Pitts current legend vs upcoming legend. Yin-Yang type of personalities. Two firey class acts. Loved it. Already burned it to a DVD for my collection. :)

AO Safin vs. Hewitt. Not as memorable as Roger-Andre but still had a lot riding on it: great atmosphere, great shot-making, a lot of pressure on both players to deliver a win. You felt that at any moment one player could snatch the match away from the other. Enjoyed it much.

RG Nadal vs. Puerta. Puerta played well but even when he took a set off Rafa I never felt for one minute that Nadal was in any real danger of losing this title. There were better matches in the earlier rounds than this one. Last year's RG final is still packing a punch.

Wimby Federer vs. Roddick. Boring, one-sided demolition. Didn't come close to being the brilliant final from the year before. Knew Andy didn't stand a chance this time around thanks in part to Roger's easy draw and getting a full day's rest before the final. :p :nerner:

This I can say with assurity, the Aus Open had the worst final.

The Wimbledon final left me amazed.

The French Final had that balance beam swaying in either direction, so it had a couple of highs and lows. At one point, I thought Puerto was going to run away with the match. Then Nadal came back, then Puerto came back, then Nadal snatched it permanently.................enjoyable match.

The US Open was fairly anti climatic for me after all the promotion and hype.

The French Open, definitely. Because of, the player, the surface, the mood, the quality of the match...

Australian Open-probably because I totally enjoyed the whole tournament, and nothing better than seeing Hewitt lose in front of the home crowd, especially in the final lol.

Well, the French Open for that first set alone. None were that great, though there were many good matches in earlier rounds.

Wimbledon definitely. 1) Cos I'm a huge Federer fan too 2) Cos I was there 3) Cos Roddick got his ass whipped AGAIN and that's always good!

Aus Open - not just the final but the whole tournament.
Nice to see Marat finally win the title after coming close many times before. Nice to see Hewitt loose and nice to be spared a one-sided Federer final.

Not the Aus Open :sad:Only because of the result :p .

I still think it was the best of the four this year, if for nothing else, the outcome was truly unpredictable. Both players played very well and while I, like BG, would have preferred a different result, I believe it to be the year's best.

AO Safin vs. Hewitt. Not as memorable as Roger-Andre but still had a lot riding on it: great atmosphere, great shot-making, a lot of pressure on both players to deliver a win. You felt that at any moment one player could snatch the match away from the other. Enjoyed it much.:yeah:

1. US Open - Tense match, exciting match with great quality from both players, even if sometimes it came in different moments. The crowd, even if totally one-sided, still gave it a special touch, and Federer just shut them up with his brilliance in the 3rd set tie-break and the 4th (even if Agassi had nothing left on his tank). Well, Roger is my favorite player and Agassi is one of them too, so...

2. Wimbledon - Just an amazing performance by Roger. :hearts:

3. Roland Garros - Great match as well, lots of gutsy and quality clay court play, and Puerta fought like he could, but Nadal was too good.

4. Australian Open - I barely saw any part of it, so didn't enjoy it as much as the others.

USO- brilliant, competetive, a great deal at stake- two all time greats one of them a local hero. Had all the recipes for a brilliant match and it was :yeah:

AO- another tense battle with the local hero element in it and until the middle of the third set totally unpredicatable. Also such a pleasure to see Safin at his best.

W- although Roger is my favourite player and he displayed brilliance once again this match was way too predicatable and Roddick never really had a chance.

F- I just didn't see it so I cannot comment any further.

I may be the only one, but I was really enthralled by the Australian Open final, or at least the last 2 sets which featured some really beautiful baseline rallies.

They were all pretty high quality compared to some past years (remember the horror of GS Finals 2003?!)

3 out of 4 finals were not really finals, because they didn't qualify as tennis matches being mismatches and the result was known before the ball was struck. The only final that had any competitive content was AO final.

US Open - Amazing tennis by 2 amazing players, lots of emotions from Federer. That scream in the end just made you realize how badly Roger wanted the title
Wimbledon - Amazing tennis by ROger, pluz I enjoy a good Duck whooping once in a while
AO - Just to see Safin win a GS was enough for me
RG - I loved the 1st set, after that Puerta seemed to go down a bit
