According the organizers Hewitt's accepted an invitation but still not sure because of wellknown reason. And there are Philippoussis, Enqvist and Murray who have a chance to get a wild card.

And what a list... Even don't know whom to support to (allez la Frace or kom igen Sverige?..), although anyway I'm going to visit the tournament.

Why is Andreev playing Lyon instead of this tournament? :(

Anyway, best of luck to last year's finalists, Nikolay, Dmitry, Max, Tojo, and Marat.

good luck marat!if he willl play!

Safin confirmed arriving to Petersburg.

Marat Safin officially refused to take a part in Kremlin Cup tournament because of left knee injury. There are his programme on the official site of the tennis player. A treatment of the injury goes good and in this season Marat takes a part in St. Petersburg Open and then he plays in Masters tournament in Paris and in the final tournament of ATP in Shanghai. This amount of the playing practice will help to define the loads injured knee can sustain. But in the same time Safin hasn't decided yet when he starts his season in 2006 year.
Press agency of St. Petersburg Open tournament.

is lyon a better scored tournement?

NO! :(
Check it out:
Basel - Prize Money: €829,000, 50 race points for the winner
Lyon - Prize Money: €659,000, 45 race points for the winner
St. Petersburg - Prize Money: $975,000, 50 race points for the winner

But who's cared to go to Russia... Federer must play in his homeland, Roddick's raquet sponsor makes him to play in France, frenchies prefer certainly to play at home too - everybody has a reason.

And your Igor... Maybe he has a special reason. Or perhaps he just doesn't like this tournament. He lost in the first round last year according my memories... Anyway he left the tournament with such a face:

WOW! It would be great if he comes!

Marat WILL play... according to his official site at least. But we all know how unexpectedly he can change his mind. Not this time, I hope  I'm coming to SPb for him :) And for Enric Molina... LOL kidding!

Hangdog
10-08-2005, 09:15 PM
That news about Marat is the official one and is everywhere - all sport headlines etc. He'd better to come... Although this guy lost some his reputation and respect here in SPb last year (the story about his lose to Llodra).

Hehe and anyway you're welcome Mara_M, :) nice fan of Russian players =). If you have any other questions just ask, I'll have a pleasure to answer, I'm sad that this thread is so unpopular... Saint-Petersburg Open is a do great tournament!

Dream, merci for visiting ;). Hey, according your words poor Molina has to remember you even since Davis Cup  And welcome to St. Petersburg! :wavey: Super decision! :yeah: ;)

5 players for 2 WC:
Bjorkman (Swe)
Kunitsyn (Rus)
Gabashvili (Rus)
Enqvist (Swe)
Philippoussis (Aus)

3rd WC will go to the winner of local tournament.

Deboogle!.
10-20-2005, 03:14 PM
I'd say Kunitsyn deserves a WC based on his prior play in Russia. Gabashvili too. They should go to the up-and-coming Russians, IMO.

little update to the entry list

Safin is going to SPb as a guest. For sitting on the tribune, visiting clubs etc. The info is from Russian press so it's not 100% official. (And Marat won't play in Paris, that's 99% sure).

First WC gets the winner of the tournament of the best players of SPb Vadim Davletshin (619 ATP). Another card is for Kunitsyn or Gabashvili and the third one is for Philippoussis, Enquist or Björkman (seems for the Australian player).

And that's very sad that Karlovic and Santoro are out from the list...

Okej, will be done if it's possible. I've even visited just now the photo gallery of your player so I'm sure now how does he look like.
